Chapter 24

KATHRYN'S POV:

"Kaaath!" I ran towards her as soon as she got out of the airport lobby. She let go of her trolly and smiled big to me. Pero hindi sya tumakbo. And hindi sya sumisigaw. Tama na nga sigurong ako na lang ang maingay sa aming dalawa. Haha! She just waited for me with open arms.

"Achi!" she said when i reached her and she hugged me.

I hugged her really tight, too. "Na-miss kita, baliw ka!" I laughed while sniffing and while ginugulo ko yung buhok nya.

"Ouch! Sinong baliw sa 'tin? Ikaw nga yung tumatawa at umiiyak jan eh." She separated and tried to fix her scarf around her neck, eye glasses and hair.

Yeah, right. I look crazy here crying and laughing at the same time. Parang ako yung 2 years na nawala sa Philippines to live alone in the US.

"Kasi naman eh! You are sooo stubborn. I still hate you for leaving and for extending your stay. You owe me a lot!"

"Oo na. I bought you make-up - a lot. Okay na?" she raised both eyebrows, as if what she said could already fix everything. Suhulan daw ba ko?

"Kulang pa yan. Meron ka pang dapat gawin to make bawi."

"Ano yon?"

I paused and tilted my head.

She tilted her head the other side, asking "what is it?"

"Be my Maid of Honor."

"I-ikakasal na kayo... ni Enrique?"

"Uh... no. Not him." Then i bit my lip.

My twin sister stopped on her tracks and stared at my face, almost like she had seen some horror.

I knew it.

She could not blame me for not updating her. Sya din naman ang naglayo sa sarili nya, telling me that she didn't want anything to do with Quen after their last conversation over-the-phone.

"Achi, please, wag mo na pilitin na magkaayos pa kami ni Quen. Not now and not anytime soon. Ayoko na." I remember what she told me.

"But Kath, friend ko si Quen -"

She cut through. "Hindi ko naman pinipigilan na maging friends kayo or maging close ulit kayo. Go ahead. I just don't want to have anything to do with him... or with Enrique."

"Wait... Bakit pati si Enrique?"

Hindi nya na sinagot yon. "I'm sorry Achi. The only thing that i want to hear from back home is about Mom, Dad and you. Okay na ko dito. Just give me this."

Kath bit her lip and looked down to her hands gripping on the hand bag.

"Sorry, Achi..."

"Kath..."

She looked back to my face which suddenly broke into laughter.

"Joke lang! Syempre si Enrique! Sino pa bang ibang papakasalan ko?"

Her eyes turned into thin lines and halos umusok yung ilong nya.

"Kathryn?! Ano ba, niloloko mo ba ko?!"

I was still laughing, halos color pink na siguro ako sa paningin nya.

"Pina-prank lang kita, masyado ka kasing seryoso eh."

"Hay nako, ewan ko sayo! Umuwi na nga tayo."

We walked towards the exit and i was still catching my breath.

"So nag propose na pala sya sayo," she asked when we were approaching the parking area.

"Hindi pa."
