Song suggestion: Meherbani
है साज़ तू, तेरा तर्ज़ मैं
तू है दावा और मर्ज़ मैं
दिलदार तू, खुदगर्ज मैं
है गीत तू, तेरे लफ़्ज़ मैं

He didn’t question her.
When Meera stood in front of him and said, “Come with me,” there was no explanation in her tone, no softness either.
Sidharth followed her quietly through the hallway and back into the kitchen. The sounds of laughter from the living room faded behind them.
The kitchen lights were still on, the faint aroma of saffron lingering in the air.
She didn’t look at him as she walked in. Her eyes scanned the counter until they found the small white first aid box near the corner shelf.
Without a word, she picked it up and placed it on the counter.
He understood.

Sidharth’s POV
I didn’t say anything at first.
She opened the box and took out the antiseptic cream like this was the most normal thing in the world.
Like we hadn’t been walking around each other carefully for the past twenty-four hours.
“It’s okay,” I said lightly. “It’s not that bad.”
She looked up at me.
Just one look.
No words. No irritation. Just that steady, unimpressed stare.
Yeah. That was my cue to shut up.
So I did.
I leaned back slightly against the counter as she stepped closer. She took my wrist in her hand, turning it gently under the light to inspect the burn.
Her fingers were warm.
She didn’t rush.
She didn’t speak.
And for some reason, that silence felt heavier than any argument we’d had.
And the worst part was… I knew this distance was my fault.
If she was careful around me now… maybe I had given her every reason to be.
The cream was cool when she applied it.
I watched her face instead of my hand. The way her brows pulled together slightly when she concentrated.
The way she avoided looking at me directly.
A few months ago she wouldn’t have done that. She would have met my eyes without hesitation, stubborn and fearless.
Now she was careful.
Like she was afraid of crossing a line that I had drawn first.
This isn’t how I wanted it to be.
Not this distance.
Not this strange version of us where we care but pretend we don’t.
