मैं तो यूं खड़ा किस सोच में पड़ा था
कैसे जी रहा था मैं दीवाना
छुपाके से आके तूने
दिल मैं समा के तूने
छेड़ दिया कैसा ये फसाना

Sidharth’s POV

“Arey Siddharth, what are you doing here?”

I stopped mid-step like a criminal caught sneaking back into a crime scene.

Mom and Badi Maa stood in the hallway, both staring at me with identical expressions. Suspicion. Pure suspicion.

“I forgot something,” I said quickly.

“What?” Mom asked immediately.

My brain went completely blank.

What did I forget?

Important question. One small problem.

I had absolutely no idea.

“Uh… something,” I said vaguely.

Both of them exchanged a look.

The kind mothers exchange when they know you’re lying but are deciding whether to expose you or let you embarrass yourself further.

“I’ll just get it,” I added quickly and escaped before the interrogation could continue.

Behind me I heard Badi Maa chuckle.

God.

I walked straight to my room, pushing the door open quietly.

And that’s when I saw her.

Meera was standing near the dressing table with her back facing me. Her hair fell down her back in loose waves, slightly messy from the morning.

My eyes moved automatically toward the vanity.

The gift box. It was open.

Did she open it?

Of course she opened it, you idiot.

But did she like it? Was it too simple?
Should I have bought something better?
Something heavier? More bridal? Why am I even thinking about this?

I frowned slightly at my own thoughts.

Why does it matter? It’s just a gift.

I ran a hand through my hair, annoyed with myself.

Why am I overthinking this?

Before my brain could spiral further, I cleared my throat.

She turned around.

And for a moment, my thoughts stopped.

She had was still wearing the saree from earlier, but somehow even after all the cooking she still looked…

Beautiful.

Meera had always been beautiful. Effortlessly so.

Even the first time I had seen her months ago, I had noticed it immediately.
