I woke up later that day, still cuddled with Michael. I shifted slightly and saw he was still sleeping, and I slinked my way out of his arms. I stood up and looked at him, he looked like such an angel when he slept. I smiled to myself, and headed to the bathroom connected to my room to shower. I smelt like I had been partying all night, probably because I was. I set my phone up in it's usual spot so I could listen to music, and I got in. I didn't take more than ten minutes, and I got out and went back into my room, towel wrapped around me. Michael was still asleep, and even though he was pretty convincing, I still hid when I got dressed. I sat down at the foot of my bed, brushing my hair and humming to the song Fluorescent Adolescent by Arctic Monkeys.
"You've got a good taste in music, Ky." Michael said, not even opening his eyes. I jumped, and hit his legs.
"Jesus, Michael you scared me. I thought you were asleep." He softly chuckled and sat up, rubbing his eyes.
"You've got a good voice too, well from what I can tell from humming. Why don't you sing?" He asked, looking at me intently.
"Oh no, no. Bad experience at a birthday party once. I tried to do karaoke and failed miserably, and I haven't sung in front of people since." I said, shuddering at the memory. I just remember the stares and the laughter, it hurt.
"Come on, can't be that bad. I want to hear you sing. I sing, sometimes." He said, and I just shook my head. "Alright, fine. Shit, you're birthday's coming up soon, isn't it?"
"Yeah, the big 1-7. I'm probably not going to do anything, probably just invite you and the others over for some pizza and a movie." He nodded, then looked around my room. He stood up and walked over to my wall of various band posters and records. "I didn't know you sing." I said curiously.
"Yeah, sometimes I do, mostly when I'm alone though. I never sing in front of people."
"Perhaps I'll hear you sometime." I said, really wanting to hear him now.
"Green Day? All Time Low, Sum 41, Bowling For Soup, twenty one pilots. Damn Ky, I wasn't kidding when I said you've got a good music taste. Shit, is this a My Chemical Romance vinyl? I love them." I smiled and sat back, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear and watching him walk around. He immediately found a bluetooth speaker on my desk and connected his phone, blasting Teenagers by My Chemical Romance. He jumped around my room, lip syncing the song and playing an air guitar. I covered my mouth, laughing at what a dork he was, and discreetly took my phone out and took a video of him.
"I'll strike a violent pose- are you recording me?" He said when he noticed me, and stared at the camera. I started laughing, and he walked over to me, pushed my phone down and started tickling me.
"No, no Mikey stop I'm too ticklish!" I yelled, laughing loudly as he kept tickling my side.
"This is what you get for recording me, Ky." He said, laughing as I did and stopped the video. He stopped tickling me, and I looked at him giggling and smiling. He stared into my eyes, his hands still at my sides. He bent down slowly and kissed me, keeping his hands where they were.
"Um, guys? That's gross." I heard Addy say, and I broke away from Michael and looked at her, freezing. "Eww, Kylie has cooties now!" She said, pointing at me. I smirked and got up from underneath Michael, walked over, and started to wipe my hands on her.
"Nooo! I have cooties now, ew. Get away from me!" She whined, running back to her room as I sat down laughing. I looked back at Michael, and he was already looking at me, smiling.
"What?" I asked. He just shook his head and chuckled softly.
"You've got such a cute laugh." He simply said. I scoffed and picked up a nearby stuffed animal on the ground, and threw it at him.
"You're such a cheeseball." I said, and got up.
"When's your birthday again? Going back to that topic." He said.
"August 7th, why?" I said.
"Just wondering. Anyway, I have to head out. Calum texted me to meet up with him at the beach." He walked past me, stopping in the doorway. "Wanna come with?" I thought about it for a minute, then remembered that Addy was home.
"Sorry, Addy's home and I haven't really hung out with her lately." I said, frowning at him.
"Bring her with you if you want. I'm not intimidated by her, but I bet you Calum would be." I frowned again and stuck out my bottom lip.
"Sorry Mikey, another time." I said, and walked over and kissed him on the cheek. "Have fun with Calum, tell him I said hi."
"One more?" He said, smiling like a little kid at me.
"One more." I said quietly, and kissed him softly. With that he left, and I saw him standing outside my front door. I felt my phone vibrate and saw a text from Michael.
Um, this is awkward seeing as I just left, but Ashton dropped us off and I kind of need a ride to the beach... I read. I laughed, and walked into Addy's room.
"Hey, so Michael needs a ride to the beach, wanna come along? We're just dropping him off and then we're coming back." I said, standing halfway through her doorway. She tore her eyes away from the book she was reading, and got up without saying anything. "I'll take that as a yes." I threw on my flip flops and went outside to see Michael still standing there.
"Nice going, smart one. Really thought this one through." I said, smirking at him. He crossed his arms and looked at me, putting on his oh so familiar smug bad boy face.
"You know you wanna give me a ride, Ky." He said in a low voice. I froze, knowing exactly what he meant in context. I felt nervous all over again, how can he just magically do that? I couldn't let him know he got in my head, so I returned his smirk and pushed past him. Addy ran out of the house as well and jumped in the front seat. Michael stared at her as she buckled up and smiled at him.
"Addy, you're too young to ride in the front, I sit there." Michael said, going to under her seat belt when I said,
"Hey, parents aren't home, and I've gotta live up to my fun sister reputation. Sorry Mikey, looks like she beat you." I said with a smile, and got in the driver's seat. Michael stared at me then, looking at me as if to say 'are you serious?' I laughed and started the car, and he grumpily got in the back seat. It didn't take long to get to the beach, and when we all got out Calum started laughing.
"Demoted to the backseat, huh? Oh that's great." He said, when he sat Addy jump out of the front seat. "Oh, hey kid. What's up?" He said, and held out his hand for a high five. She looked at his hand and then him, then stood behind me.
"I don't know you." She said, and Michael laughed.
"Ooo, rough mate. Can I get one Addy?" He asked, and held out his hand. She slapped it, smiling. Calum pouted and punched Michael's arm. We talked for a bit, and then Addy and I headed out. On the way home, Addy asked me a question I hadn't thought about for a while.
"I thought you didn't like that boy Kylie, you said he was bad." I kept driving, not saying anything, trying to figure out the right response.
"You'll learn this as you grow up, unfortunately, but not everyone is who they pretend to be."
