Chapter 4:
"Good morning, class," one of the teachers spoke up. "I am Ms Lauria and this," she gestured towards the other teacher. "Is Ms Lorec." Ms Lorec gave a friendly wave and went back to fiddling with the computer. The first thing I noticed about them—they were both really short, like, dwarf short.
"First thing we are going to do is switch seats."
Thanks to my incessant praying and good luck, I was paired with Aaron in the last row. Veronica and Keenan were in front of us and Hunter and Tasha to the left.
"Hiya Keenan." I said.
"Hey Ems, how's it going?"
Aaron stiffened beside me. "Nothing much, K. Catch ya later."
I turned to Aaron. "I ran into your brother just now..."
He raised an eyebrow. "Oh really?"
"Yeah, I literally ran into him on the steps. He seems like a nice guy."
He smiled. "I'm glad you like my twin. He can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but most of the time he just goofs around."
"Ah." I scrambled around for another topic. "I--"
I was interrupted by Hunter throwing a pencil at me.
"Yo, Emerald," he said.
"What," I growled, turning to face the brattiest guy in my life.
"Nothing... Just seems like you like Lerr more than friends, that’s all." He smirked.
"Wha—what?” I gaped, lost for words and blushing a fiery shade of red. Was I really that transparent?
"Those blue eyes are really dazzling, don't you think?"
“Hunter,” I sighed. “Go away, please.” Hunter and I’s relationship was always a love-hate one. Even so, he knew when to sober up and stop joking around when he needed to.
He snickered and turned back towards the front of the classroom.
"This year, there will be a school dance held some time before Christmas break. All senior form students are required to attend and they must have a partner." Ms Lorec announced.
My eyes widened. There was going to be a dance?!
"In your PE classes you will learn how to dance. Therefore, I suggest you to pay attention in your Physical Education classes." Ms Lauria said.
Damn... well at least we are going to learn how... I have no clue how to dance.
"You are dismissed."
I glanced down at my schedule. English, Maths, Chinese, Geography and… Something called ML? They only gave the initials of the class to us, so I had no clue what it was... Oh well. I guess they'll explain then...
I walked into my English class and sat down next to Elexia and Laura Carylon, a friend I had known since pre-school.
"Hi guys," I said.
Elexia grabbed my arm and jerked me into the seat. "I heard that Aaron has a twin, hmmm?"
"Yeah he does," Laura chimed in. "He's in my class. I think. Grey eyes, tousled hair?"
I nodded.
"I think his name's Damien, I dunno." Laura continued.
"But I thought his name was Alex?" I questioned.
"No, he said it was Damien. Alex is the name of this weird kid in my class, but if you’re sure he’s called Alex, then I guess Damien is his middle name or something." Laura frowned.
