For once I sincerely felt the need to rain praises on myself, Jomil was succeeding way more than I had expected.

I definitely had an eye for raw talent

A thought that was followed with a mischievous grin.

He called to let me know another label had reached out to him again. Whereas I on the other hand, told him to think hard about it because some of these labels had outrageous contracts, rip-offs!

I had bigger plans, but not sufficient funds. I knew investing in him was going to yield heavy returns in the future, and I had always had interest in the entertainment industry, but was very certain my mother wouldn't want to hear of it; she was only ever interested in me taking over Onex Pharmaceuticals, but I had no interest in that.

I had already opted to manage him, and he made it clear he had no issues with that, as he couldn't thank me enough for my consistent effort and funds I had poured into his single. But I was thinking big, far from whatever was going on now.

I wanted to start a record label of my own, but needed funds; my monthly upkeep wasn't going to get me anywhere, and I knew it. I wanted to build my own identity, not dwell under the shadow and mercy of my mother's husband.

I had a chance with Jomil, but it would be selfish of me to ask him to tell off those established record labels, only to be stuck with me, who was just starting up.

Immediately I got into the sitting room, my gaze fell on him; he was currently having an intense conversation with Hali; obviously, they were talking about their trip.

A solo trip!

I could only wonder why my mum wasn't going with them; it was weird. Because a Christmas holiday should certainly be held to celebrate with my mum, who was obviously the Christian between them. It was always held as a family trip.

Today was the last day of the term; a Carol night was being held, and trust me when I say there were important things to do with my time, and going to the Christmas Carol wasn't part of it.

I had other plans, which weren't PG-13, and which I was going to follow through on under the pretext of attending the Christmas Carol.

"What time are we leaving tonight?" Jamila asked, meanwhile, I wondered where she came from as I observed the balcony.

"You are attending the Christmas Carol?" I asked Jamila because it was not mandatory, as Christianity wasn't the only religion in our school.

"It's always fun," she responded with a smile.

"Rommy!" I recognized the voice instantly. "I knew you would be here."

I turned in her direction as I noticed the excitement on her face disappeared immediately when she sighted Jami; it suddenly turned awkward. It was obvious she had no idea Jami was here because Halimah was avoiding her like a plague.

"Later then," Jami said with a smile on her face and then made for the exit, totally ignoring Hali.

Their relationship hadn't been that great, especially with the fact that their clique didn't like each other, but it got worse since she found us out.
