Chapter 11 - Dead ?!

~Natsu POV~

I was unable to move. I was surrounded by blood once again, blood that belonged to people I cherished. Her unconscious body lay on the floor. My eyes widened as they scanned her wounds.

I immediately started to panic and my heart began to race. This is all my fault. My eyes were beginning to play tricks on me as I started to imagine my family lying dead on the floor along side Lucy causing me to punch the floor out of anger. I rubbed my eyes to rid the images that I had long tried to forget about but just couldn't. They appeared in my sleep, in my thoughts and every time I closed my eyes. It's my fault they're dead and it's my fault Lucy is going to die as well.

"Natsu ?! Help her, hurry up we can still save her !" Shouted  Gray while shoving me forcefully, shaking me from my thoughts. He went to pick up Lucy bridal style but I stopped him just before he could earning a puzzled look from him.

"I'll do it." I said firmly. I didn't like the idea of anyone touching Lucy apart from me.

"Now is not the time to be jealous Natsu I'll-"

"I said I'll do it." I said glaring at him. He stepped away from Lucy as I walked over to her. I took my jacket off and placed it around her body as I picked her up bridal style. Her pale face heavily contrasted with the red blood and her tear stains were still visible.

"I'll keep my promise Lucy, I won't let anything happen to you this time." I whispered to her as I followed behind Gray.

I gently lay Lucy across the back seats of the car and slid in the back seat myself, placing her head gently on my lap for comfort.

"What will we tell the hospital ?" Asked Gray as he got in the passenger seat and Gajeel turned the car on.

"We're not going there." I said. Gray turned round and looked at me as if I was crazy.

"Why not ?! she's dying Natsu !" He shouted.

"I know how to treat wounds. Take her to my house. Now." I said firmly.

"Natsu but-"

"Just do it Gajeel !" I shouted losing my temper.

"But-"

"Listen, she's missing and people will most definitely recognise her and guess who will get arrested ? Us. And guess who will take her away from me ? Them. So just shut up and drive this damn car to my house."

"Fine, but if something happens to her, it's her blood on your hands not ours." Said Gajeel as he drove to my house. She won't die because I myself will make sure of it. I will not let Lucy die.

Gajeel pulled up in the driveway and as soon as the car stopped I jumped out the car holding Lucy carefully. Gray opened the door for me and I bolted to my bedroom and lay Lucy gently across the bed.

"Gray ! Hurry and get me the tweezers specifically designed to extract bullets, they're in the cabinet in the toilet along with a first aid kit. Gajeel get me a bowl of water and gloves." I ordered them as I cautiously removed the jacket off Lucy. I blushed when I realised I had to take her clothes off to treat the injuries.

"Sorry Lucy, but you'll thank me for saving you later.." I murmured. My face probably marched a red traffic light, this was so embarrassing.

"What the hell Natsu ! Why is she in her underwear pervert !!" Said Gray making me jolt.

"Idiot ! How can I treat her injuries if she has clothes on huh ?! She isn't naked it's only her underwear it's as if she was in a swimming costume." I stated as I snatched the first aid kit and tweezers off Gray.

"Have you checked her pulse ?" Asked Gajeel placing the bowl of water on the bedside table and handing me over the gloves.

"Yes and it's very faint so now I have work to do. Wait outside." I said slipping the gloves on and prepared to start the most important mission in my life. Mission save Luce.

~Gray POV~

I made my way to the kitchen with Gajeel and started snacking on some chips despite what was going on upstairs. I hadn't ate all day. I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket and fished it out. Juvia.

"Hey Gray-sama, where are you ? I prepared dinner.." Spoke the soft but worried voice on the other end of the phone.

"Nadtdggumffd" I said with a mouthful of chips still in my mouth.

"Eh ?"

I gulped down the chips before speaking again. "Sorry was uhm doing some business, on my way now. Bye." I said and quickly hung up. "Can you give me a lift Gajeel?"

"What about Natsu, won't he need help ?" He asked.

"Nah, I think. I don't want assist her death caused by psycho Doctor Dragneel. Come on." I said pulling him out the door as he grunted in annoyance.

"Fine I need to get back to shrimp anyway." He said slamming the door behind him.

~Natsu POV~

I look over at the clock as I stitch up the last wound. It's been one hour since I've been aiding her wounds, yet it felt like days. I take out one of my shirts from my drawer and gently slide it on her making sure I moved her as little as possible to avoid the stitches being open. Thank goodness I knew how to cure gunshot wounds.

I checked her pulse and luckily it seemed to be beggining to go at a steady pace again after having successfully managed to stop the blood loss.

The real concern is will she make it through the night ? Has my aid been enough to keep her alive or is this the last time I'll ever hear her heartbeat.

I strip down into my boxers and lie down next to Lucy. Gray sent me a message saying he'd left with Gajeel, great friends I have...leaving me when I need them. At least they saved my life tonight, if they hadn't intervened then that blonde idiot of Sting would've definitely killed me.

I lay down staring at the ceiling thinking about all the wrong choices I made in life, this being one of my greatest. My eyelids started to feel heavy, giving me a hint that it's time to sleep and stop thinking about all the things I've done wrong in life...so far.

I lean over to give Lucy a goodnight kiss on the cheek which I always do when she isn't awake because I'd be embarrassed if she saw me.

When my lips made contact with her cheek I realised something wasn't right. She was ice cold and her skin looked dead pale. Frightened I take her pulse immediately. 1 heartbeat. 2 heartbeats. Then nothing, only a deadly silence.

"NO !!!!" I shouted at the top of my lungs as tears of anger rolled down my cheek.

This is all my fault.
