Chapter 29 - Busted

~Lucy POV~

Since we arrived, the only time we both spoke was when we had to order and when we thanked the waiter for delivering us our food. This date was far more awkward than I thought it would be....

I couldn't wait until it was over to be honest because judging by how this date was going, I doubt there will be another one.

"So Lucy, have you ever had a boyfriend before or am I your first one ?" He said as he began chopping his steak, finally finding something to talk about. He could've at least asked me something else instead of invading my personal love life...

Not to mention I almost choked on my spaghetti when he said the word 'boyfriend'.

"Eh...uhm...Loke, you aren't my boyfriend-"

"Yet, my love." He replied winking at me. I think I was meant to blush but all I could do was gag. This was our first date and the first day we even met, he can't just go around saying we're in a relationship, especially without asking me officially. "Now please answer my question."

"I have- I mean I had a boyfriend, until recently..." I said, blushing at the memory of me kissing him while he was asleep. I wonder if he knew it was me that kissed him, or if he even knew someone kissed him. Part of me hoped that he did while the other part of me is still urging me to move forward and forget about him.

The truth is that I never will.

"Why are you blushing Lucy ? Having some weird fantasies about your previous boyfriend or ?..."

"N-no ! I'm here with you now, so why would I even be thinking about him. I don't like him anymore, we're over." Loke smirked at my response and finished up his steak.

The dinner was getting pretty boring, and to be honest I was not enjoying this first date. I played with the rim of the wine glass as Loke began to talk about 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'star-crossed lovers' and 'how fate brought me and him together.' Ugh. Am I in an English lesson or a date here ??

I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the waiter coming towards us with the bill in his hand.

"You're paying your half right ?" He said as he took out his half of the money. I groaned and fished out my purse and placed the money on the table along with a tip for the waiter.

Isn't Loke such a gentlemen ?

"So, did you enjoy your time with me ?" Asked Loke as we got closer to my house.

"Yeah." I lied. It was boring, and I found him too boring as well. Before meeting Natsu, Loke would've been the type of guy I would've loved to date in high school but now, I'm more attracted to people like Natsu....or people that look like Natsu....ok, I'm attracted to Natsu himself. I just wanted to be with him again, more than anything.

"Great. Oh you haven't told me much about your parents ? Where are they ? Did they kick you out ?"
I wasn't really prepared to answer his question but at the same time, I knew it was coming sooner or later.

"They're dead...they got killed..." What Flare said immediately began playing through my head. It hurt me so much, and it still does to this very day. Looking back at it now, Gray is right. I think Flare lied.

"I'm sorry I didn't know.." He said as an apologetic look flashed across his eyes.

"Don't be sorry. It's ok.." I said smiling at him.

"I realise how much I've bored you throughout this date, but I was just trying to figure you out better. How about we start again and I'll show you how fun I can be ?"

"Sure, we do all deserve second chances after all." I smiled.

Even Natsu...

~Natsu POV~

"Oi Gray ! Do I look okay ?" I said as I ran my fingers through my hair attempting to neaten it up a bit.

"Yes, but remember Lucy isn't mean to see you Natsu you-"

"I know, I know. Now please shut up Gray. I just want to see her. Can I go now ?"

"I'm taking you. You're not going alone, especially with Sting out for blood." I groaned annoyed at the fact that he had to tag along. I wanted to go alone.

"Fine, but hurry the heck up." I said shoving him out the door. We swiftly hopped into his car and pulled up across the road of a small but very neat house. The lawn was perfectly cut and the flowers were set perfectly symmetrical on both sides of the house. It seems like the sort of place Luce would like to be in.

"Lucy's room is right there on the right. Just hide in that bush and wait for her to come because the light is off so she must be away." Said Gray urging me to get out the car.

"Wow, chill Gray. What is she doing out at this time ?! It's 11:58am..." I said as I whipped out my iPhone. "I'm going to check if she's sleeping in her room."

"Natsu wai-" I jumped out the car and slammed the door shut, quickly scampering to the window.

I peeped inside and noticed her makeup on top of the desk. I took a closer look next to her nightstand and managed to spot her diary with something lying on top of it. I squinted my eyes but jolted when I heard a sudden noise approaching. I quickly dived into the bush nearby, cursing as I hit my butt on a branch.

"I had such a great time, thank you Loke." I heard a sweet voice say. Wait. Loke ?!

I peeped my head out the bush, looking like a crazy guard dog and managed to get a full view of the front door where they were standing.

Get away from her. She's mine.

"I'd be glad to take you out on a date again. Text me." He winked at her as she giggled.

Stop giggling he's not funny.

"I'll be in touch very soon..." Said Lucy.

"Thank you, I don't think I could stand a day without seeing your beautiful face or hearing your beautiful voice..." He said as he inched closer to her face. He tucked one of her loose strands of hair behind her hair, then gently lifted her chin and inched in closer to her lips and stared at them as if they were the most precious thing in the world.

And then, the worst happened. He kissed her right in front of me. The worst part is, she kissed him back.

I cursed as I ran out the bush. I'm an idiot ! How could I believe she loved me ?!

I jumped back into the car and slammed the door shut as Gray gave me a puzzled look.

"Don't just stare at me ! Drive !" I shouted.

Why are you leading me on Lucy ? Why do you act like you care about me when you're clearly in love with another guy ?

Why did you kiss me and then kiss him ?!

Why are you tearing me apart....

But most importantly, why can't you be mine ?
