Chapter 42 - Too Late

~Lucy POV~

"But Luce I want to chum you to the store please~ I can walk on my own I don't need these stupid crutches." Natsu stated tossing his crutches over to the side.

"See in perfectly fi- woahhh!" He landed with a thud on the ground as I smiled in satisfaction.

"Told you." I lent him a hand which he gladly took to help prop himself up. He's healing very well but having some difficulty walking on his own two feet.

I was a bit nervous about going to the store on my own but it was just down the road and we desperately needed food. Can't live off takeaways our whole like right ? Although I wish we could...no more cooking...just savouring some lovely takeaways...

I grab the house keys off the counter along with my mobile phone. I watched with the corner of my eye as Natsu pouted at me while I slipped my jacket on. It was beginning to get really cold outside, but winter is one of my favourite months of the year. I just love the feeling of snow under my feet crunching and I love building snowmen. Yes I know, I'm still a child at heart ok ? But enough of that talk. I have to buy some food to feed this beast.

After this meal I had some news to tell Natsu so I wanted to make it extra special. I was very nervous for Natsu's reaction but I'm hoping he'll be as thrilled as I was when I found out.

"I'll see you soon Natsu." I placed a kiss on his cheek while he still stood in a huff. I was about to walk out the door when he spun my round and placed a soft kiss on my lips.

"Lucy, be careful please. Call me if you need anything. I love you." I couldn't help but feel my stomach warm up at his protectiveness towards me. I didn't like it when he was overprotective but I loved it when he was protective...i found it really hot. In fact, it was one of my favourite traits about him. I know that when I'm with Natsu no one will ever hurt me, because he'll always stand up for me. It's such a great feeling knowing you aren't alone to face things.

As I stepped out the door I was hit with a gash of cold air. The hairs on my arms began to stand up as a chill went up my spine.

Can't we just have a takeaway...isn't that special enough ?

No Lucy ! You've to make it extra special.

I walked with determination against the cold wind breathing a sigh of relief as I reached the door of the store.

What could I make him ? Hmm....

I started mentally listing all of Natsu's favourite foods when it finally hit me.

I'll make pizza like the first meal he gave me and I'll make extra spicy chicken wings...although I should be avoiding those.

I began to feel excited to cook the meal for Natsu. I began to pick up the various ingredients off the shelf and placing them gently into the trolley.

I couldn't help but think how much has happened between me and Natsu, but every obstacle has strengthened our bond with one another. I remember the conversation we had about family at the table and marriage...I really hope he's changed his mind. Well he has to have changed his mind.

Once I double checked I got everything I needed I brought the items over to the cashier who was scanning them at a snail's pace with a not so cheery face on.

"Is that everything ?" She asked in the most monotonous voice she could possibly master.

"Yes thank- ." I reply as politely as I can.

"Well hurry up and pay." She rudely interrupted me and it took all my inner self control not to retaliate. This woman deserves a right- why am I beginning to think like Natsu ?! Damn you Natsu Dragneel.

Once I payed up I made my way out the shop and began walking home. The bags were really heavy slowing down my pace which I tried my best to keep fast as it was beginning to turn quite dark. I guess there's no need to be going to the gym at this rate. I've basically lost all the calories I've consumed today.

My phone began ringing in my pocket and I propped the bags down on the floor to answer it.

Natsu.

"Lucy it's been an hour where are you ?" He asked worried but seemed relieved that I answered.

"I'm-"

A rustling in the bush made me jump slightly.

"You're...?"

"I'm almost there, literally just have to cross the road." I say picking up the bags trying to carry them along with my phone.

"Want me to come help you ?" He offers.

"No, no it's fine I'll manage thank you-"

It was then I noticed a tall figure towering over me.

"Lucy ? Lucy !"

"Hello there Heartfilia. Long time no see." Sting.

I stood there motionless as all the images came flooding back. The way he tortured me leaving me almost dead...

"Looks like you remember me. Perfect we can skip the presentations. Oh who's that you've got on the phone with you ?" He said grabbing my phone out my hand. I couldn't move. I couldn't speak. I couldn't breathe.

He's going to kill me.

"Oh Natsu ! Hello. You didn't come to us so I guess we'll just take her for now. Don't worry the rest of your friends have been taken too. Gray was found dead so that's one down. Don't worry Lucy will have Juvia as her cell mate until they both get killed." He chirped.

Gray is dead. Juvia is captured. And now I'm going to be added to the collection too.

"Let her go ! You asshole let them go ! I choose me just let my friends and my girlfriend go !!" Natsu screamed desperately through the phone.

"Too late Natsu. Too late." And with that he cut the line with Natsu and threw my phone in the bushes.

"You won't be needing this anymore Heartfilia. You're coming with me now whether you like it or not."

Help me Natsu.

HEY GUYS !! Sorry for the lack of updates !

Exams are over for now :)

I completely failed maths.
I passed biology.
I passed art and I'm not sure about the rest haha XD

I'll be updating more frequently ! I just have been hammered with homework ugh and assignments :(

But I hope you all have a great day !! I had to give away my Twitter account incase that person was still stalking me :( but it's ok I'll make a new one ! And when I make it I'll private message it so there's no way that that person will know ^.^
