Chapter 28 - Date or Distraction ?

~Natsu POV~

I scrunched my eyes as they begin to adjust to the brightness of the room. I had another dream about Lucy last night, except this time if felt so real. It felt as if she was actually here and when she kissed me it was as if I could taste the cherry flavour from her lipgloss. I wish that I could've stayed in that dream forever.

Once my eyes adjusted to the light I looked over to the bedside table where the photo of us lay in my dreams. Wait a minute...if I dreamed that it was there then why is it there in real life ?! It can't have moved from my pocket to the bedside table by itself !

I quickly reached over to the photo and grabbed a hold of it, scanning it frantically for any hints as to who could've moved it.

"Awake early are we ?" Said a male voice from the doorway. I looked up at the ice princess standing there smirking at me.

"Gray ? What are you doing here ?" I asked slightly baffled by his presence.

"I've been asked to check on you by a dear friend." He said walking over to me.

"Tch. I don't need a babysitter. I can look out for myself thanks." I scoffed while holding the photo in my hand.

"You clearly can't. In fact if it wasn't for her, you would've died last night."

"Oh shut up Gray I-....wait....her ?" I asked as my heart began picking up its speed.

"Yes, her. Natsu, Lucy saved you last night. You were drugged by your so called 'friend' Rogue. He's working with Sting and they had a plan to kill you once you were unconscious. Luckily Lucy dragged you away from there before Sting got there or else, you wouldn't even be breathing right now." I felt a smile creep it's way up onto my face. Does this mean she still cared about me ?

"You mean she was here last night, in my house ?" I asked sounding like an excited kid at a candy shop.

"Yes." Gray said in a monotone while rolling his eyes. I couldn't contain my excitement. Last night wasn't a dream but it was reality. The dream would've been perfect, Exocet one thing was missing. Her. She left, again.

"But why did she leave....again ?" I asked in a sad tone. Gray just shrugged and put a hand on my shoulder in attempt to comfort me. "I need to go see her now Gray...tell me where she is please." I begged.

"No, you're staying here Dragneel. If the person she's staying with sees you, you're dead. You're Natsu Dragneel remember. Pretty sure she'd never let you near Lucy. Just wait Natsu, you'll meet with her again.."

"Please Gray ! You have the address and everything. Why do you feel the need to torture me like this ?" I sulked.

After a few attempts of making Gray feel guilty, I finally succeeded. Gray finally handed me over the address.

"Natsu, you can't be seen by Erza or Lucy yet. Please be patient."  I nodded and thanked Gray multiple times. This was better than the red fire engine truck I got at Christmas when I was 7 years old. I haven't felt this happy in a while.

"I promise I won't be seen. They don't call me an expert kindapper for no reason you know." I smiled smugly causing Gray to laugh.

"Of course Dragneel, of course."

~Lucy POV~

"Do you want to visit the girl with the broken leg you rescued yesterday in the hospital ? I can take you if you like." Asked Erza as I plopped myself on the couch after a successful and long shopping trip.

"It's ok thank you, I'm sure she'll be fine for now. I like visiting her at night as there's less people around so less traffic." Yes. I told Erza that yesterday, I was walking down the road and saw a girl with a broke leg sitting outside a bar so I took her to the hospital. I know lies have short legs but I couldn't tell her the truth.

"You're so brave Lucy ! What an Angel you are." She beamed. "So, did you buy anything nice in the shops ? I mean you were there from 1pm - 6:30pm so..."

"Yeah, I know I'm a shopping addict. But yeah I found some really cute outfits ! I was also late because when I was there, I met a boy who asked me out on a date..." Erza spat out her drink as soon as he heard 'boy' and 'date'.

"When are you going out ?" She asked.

"Tonight at 8:30. Oh, I better start getting ready, it's already 6:40pm !!" I gasped while gathering the multiple shopping bags and bringing them upstairs. I heard Erza let out a sigh followed by a laugh.

"Ahh, young love." She muttered to herself in the kitchen. "Better call my Jellal."

I walked over to the mirror and did some final adjustments before grabbing my purse and heading downstairs.

"Wow, you look wonderful !" Said Erza smiling at me while clasping her hands together. "Doesn't she Jellal ?" She asked him as he was snooping through the cupboards.

"Yeah, you look amazing Lucy !" He complimented earning a smack on the head from Erza.

"Baka you were supposed to say 'not as much as Erza !'" She said through gritted teeth while tugging his ear.

"N-not a-a-as much as E-e-rza." He gasped as Erza let go of his now red ear. Wow pretty violent Erza.

The doorbell rang and Erza bet me to the door unluckily. I'm kind of scared for him now, after seeing poor Jellal getting tortured.

"Ah, you must be the boy." Said Erza, in a weird tone. She sounded like a dad talking to their daughters date.

"Yes Madame. I'm Loke, nice to meet you." He said holding out his hand for her to shake.

"Madame ?! How old do you think I am ? 40 ?!" She shouted. I quickly stood between them and smiled apologetically to Loke who looked terrified.

"See you later Erza.." I said giving her a quick hug.

"No. See you before 12am missy." I rolled my eyes.

"Don't worry miss Erza, I'll bring her home by 12am." Said Loke taking my hand.

"YOU BETTER." She boomed causing us both to jump. I slowly closed the door behind us ready to continue our date which already hadn't gone off to a good start.

"So, ready for our date beautiful ?"

"Yep." I smiled. Am I really ready to date someone else or am I just using Loke as a distraction from Natsu ??

Hey everyone !

I'm sorry for not updating earlier but I have a lot of work to do. I go to school and have exams to sit which are really important to me. I need them for my future :) I can't become a lawyer if I don't get good grades haha.

I'll do my best to update more frequently but I can't promise anything. Once a week definetly, if I can do more than that I will :) please be patient x
