Chapter 26 - Friend or Traitor ?

~Lucy POV~

Erza wasn't here again tonight as her and Jellal were going out for a meal and then staying over at his so I had the house to myself. Not having Erza around was boring, but at least I could come in and out whenever I felt like it, not bothering what time it was. This meant I could begin looking for Natsu.

I scrolled through the list of places Gray gave me and decided to start searching for Natsu.

I know, I could just go to his house but don't forget he's an expert kidnapper and I sure as hell don't intend to be falling into his trap again.

I pulled on a pair of white jeans along with a white wooly turtle neck sleeveless top and a pair of black ankle boots.

I decided to take the car since some of these places didn't sound safe at all. The car would provide me a much quicker and safer escape than by foot. I'm sure Erza won't mind me borrowing it for tonight.

I drove down several streets but didn't manage to spot him in any. I'd been looking for half an hour and was just about to give up when I heard a racket coming from the street next to the one I was currently in.

I carefully got out of my car and sneaked to the place where the noise was coming from, hoping that when I turned the corner, I'd see the pink haired idiot himself standing there.

~Natsu POV~

I decided to meet up with a couple of friends whom I used to know from a long time ago and whom I used to go to for the strong booze. I need it to get my mind off Lucy.

I sped off into my car and met up with them. It wasn't long before I spotted them in a secluded street, near an abandoned mall.

"If it's not the Dragneel man himself ! How you doing ?"

"Great, Rogue. You ?"

"I'm doing great man ! I'm sure you'll be even more great after consuming some of this alcohol ehhhh" He wiggled his eyebrows up and down.

"Yeah...now enough talking, more drinking. I need to get my mind off this thing..." I say trying to grab the bottle off him.

"Hmm let me guess ? Girl problems ?" He said pouring some alcohol in a cup for me from a different bottle than his. Strange ?

"Long story...it's for another time. Cheers, lads !" I say taking a sip of the alcohol.

"Cheers !" They all chimed.

I felt someone watch me, but I couldn't make out who. I slowly turned round and saw a blob of blonde behind the bins.

"Lucy ?" I say quietly. The blob stays still and doesn't move. I begin to stand up to look for it but Rogue pulls me back down.

"Oi Oi, where are you going Dragneel ?!"

"I just thought I saw someone and-"

"You're kidding right ? There's no one even there, look !" I looked over only to see that there really was no one there. I guess it's just my imagination playing tricks on me once again.

"Just relax and drink. That's what we're here for." Said Rogue. I nodded and swallowed the alcohol feeling the burning sensation in the back of my throat.

"Another one ?" Asked Rogue holding out the bottle to me.

"Another one." I confirmed as he gave me another bottle.

The process repeated until I couldn't even stand up straight. I made out Rogue and his crew calling someone and then leaving hurriedly. They didn't look drunk at all....wait ? What's going on ?!

I try to get up and call for them but my mind won't catch up with my body. It was then I saw the blob of blonde re appear again, standing over me. She looked like an angel. She had big brown chocolate eyes, and I could see her cherry coloured lips, those cherry coloured lips I missed. Her hair was slightly covering her face as she leaned over me. Although I couldn't see very well, I could tell that she was worried.

"Lu....cy...?" I manage to croak out as I pass out in absolute darkness.

~Lucy POV~

I watched Natsu from behind the bins and my heart raced when he spotted me. Thanks god his friend diverted his attention back to the drinks or else I would've been busted.

I observed them carefully, wanting to slap Natsu for the amount of alcohol he was drinking and wanting to murder his friends for giving him it in the first place. If they were really his friends, they'd be trying to sit there and talk some sense into him....like Gray. Then again, Gray failed to do so, so I guess they wouldn't of had managed either.

"Guys, we can go now. I'll call Sting and tell him Natsu has passed out so he can come and get rid of him."

"What do you mean get rid of him ?" Asked one of the people there.

"I mean he wants to get rid of Natsu for good. Now let's go, I don't want to be caught up in this." He said as his crew followed closely behind.

I couldn't believe what I just heard. Rogue quickly whipped out his phone and dialled a number on it. This guy was clearly not drunk, in fact, he was completely sober !

"Sting, it's me. Yes, he's passed out here. Yes I'm sure he's passed out, he consumed a hell lot of alcohol. Nah don't thank me, thank the chick that dumped him, she left him so miserable that this dude is drinking until he passes out. Yeah sure, see you"

I watched as they laughed and kicked Natsu in the stomach causing him to cough up before heading back into their car and driving off. I couldn't help but feel tears prick my eyes. This was all my fault. It hurt to see him so vulnerable.

I couldn't take it anymore, I quickly ran to Natsu and brushed some spare strands of hair off his forehead.

"Lu...cy.." He croaked out before closing his eyes shut.

"Natsu ! Natsu ! Wake up ! Natsu ! Sting is coming ! Wake up please ! Natsu please !" I said crying into his shoulder. It was no use.

I heard a car pull up and I felt myself shaking in fear. He's here. I need to get Natsu out of here, he saved me before and it's my turn to save him.

Will I make it in time though ?

~Sting POV~

"Flare, I'm going to kill Natsu. Igneel will be chuffed that I'm about to kill Natsu earlier than planned. Aren't I a genius ?" I said cockily as Flare rolled her eyes. I grabbed the car keys and sped to the place Rogue told me Natsu was passed out in.

I couldn't help but feel excitement thrill over me. I'd be able to make someone else miserable, and there was no better feeling than to take away something precious away from someone.

I was also about to make my step father proud of me. Igneel has never liked his family, ever since he met my mum. That's why he got rid of them. He managed to get rid of them all, except for Natsu.

Don't worry dad, I won't let you down. I'll finish off what you left unfinished.

I'll kill your son, Natsu Dragneel.

I've never tried alcohol so idk what it tastes like but from my experience of reading fanfics, it sounds gross lol. I think I'll stick with my apple juice and water hahaha XD
