kyle hadn't talked much today, well atleast, not to me or anyone else he was surrounded with. he mumbled to himself though, causing eyebrows to raise and heads to turn.
i soaked up the silence while it lasted, though i did worry about him.
the meeting took place outside in the field, our counselor said it was peaceful. she was kinda right.
our group contained my cabin mates, as well as people from two other cabins. i didn't bother to pay attention to their names.
we were supposed to share our stories and get to know each other while we say their crisscross in the grass.
instead it was an awkward cycle of 'pass' and 'i'll share next time'.
katie was the first to say something, which wasn't much of a shock to me,
'well, i'm katie, and i am here because i suffer from a severe case of bipolar disorder. my aunt actually works with the kitchen staff, so that's how i found this place. i am trying my hardest to get better, so if i change emotions on any of you in the future, know im sorry.'
when she was finished, she gave a small look at dan, before everyone mumbled 'we hear you katie.'
dan was quick to mumble 'pass' again, and went back to playing with his hoodie sleeves that covered his hands.
when it eventually came to kyle, he didn't look up from the grass in his hands. he nudged me to go, seeing as our knees were practically touching.
'im not allowed to speak.' he whispered to me.
'why?' i asked, confused.
'they don't want me to.' he muttered in response. i was curious into who 'they' were, but i was to scared to ask him.
'pass.' i muttered as it went on to the next person.
