"Dr. L/N, the drug is trying to adapt to her body." The assistant called out, watching the readings on the computer. The doctor stood at his desk, his hands on the cold surface as he watched the glass. He witnessed his wife's body steam slowly, her body slowly retracting smaller. He smirked, "It's working! IT'S WORKING!"
Oh, how wrong he was, because, before him, his wife was slowly dying. His excitement died down, his hands falling onto the surface of the table and to his side. His wife, or what was left of his wife, lay on the table. Her body was dry, limbs mutilated in different sizes. It was a terrifying sight to behold. Half her face was sunken in, eyes wide open, and lips agape from the shock and pain. "Doctor..." The assistant looked at him, seeing his blank expression.
Dr. L/N walked around the viewing room, stepping into the surgical room. It smelled of burnt flesh and metallic blood. He reached out to the table, his hands shaking from the view. "Yui..." He called out, his voice straining from how his throat hurt. He felt like throwing up; his wife was gone.
"Test Subject 002.....was not compatible." His voice echoed as he cleared his throat, and he forced his hands to still. His wife may be gone, but his research must continue. After all, this is what he had signed her up for.
For death.

"You see, her sacrifice has led me to today." His eyes scattered across the room to us, raising his hands as a wild grin spread across his lips. The cracks on his skin were dry, bleeding as if begging for him to stop.
He chuckled, "Y/n, you are like this because of my creation. The chemical was fused with your stream! Yes, you have been a successful subject...just like your little boyfriend."
My hands clench at my side.
How?
Why?
My throat clenched, my head spinning as I listened to his scientific and sacrificial rant. "You disgust me."
"Huh?" He stopped, eyeing me carefully.
"You killed Mom." I paused, having the courage to look him in the eyes. My hands shook from anger and disgust. How does he have the audacity to say this? With such a prideful look?
"And lord knows how many others. For a science experiment?" I gagged; I couldn't even begin to imagine it.
L/N paused, tilting his head at me. His eyes searched mine; they widened, as if I had asked such a bizarre question. "Killed? No. No, I did not kill anyone."
This man was no father; he was a lunatic. A psychotic Lunatic. "I merely used their souls for the greater good of humanity, Y/n." He reached out, his hands shaking.
"Don't touch me!" I slammed his hand down with my foot. He flinched and yelped as a sickening crack was heard. I kept my foot pressed; now his hand was bent at an awkward angle.
"Y/n-"
"You will tell me where Chiyo is, or so help me, I will tear you piece by piece with my bare hands. I swear it!" I yelled in his face, holding the object I had thrown earlier near his face.
His eyes widened, that same look of fear returning.
Silence rang into the room as he continued staring, but slowly he blinked. "Even if I tell you, there is no way to save her." He whispered.
I tilt my head, staring him down. I moved the object closer, touching his nose. "Tell me where she is."
His chest rose slowly. "She is in the main tree, just where the center is. There is an elevator that will lead you down to the main room."
"If I find out you are lying to me, you'll suffer." I spit. I reached out, grabbing his head as I dragged him across the floor. His head bounced off the tile, leaving a blood trail as he cried out in pain.
I headed for the hallway door. I needed to find Shinichi and get this information to him. I was sure he had already found something; I just hoped he was safe. "Which way do I go?" I turned to L/N.
"Agh- just down that hallway." He shakily pointed; I regasp his hair and continue dragging him. Chiyo, I'm almost there, just please hold on a little longer.
The sound of laughter echoes into the hallway. I pause and turn to look at L/N. "You won't make it; you're going to die before you even get to her."
"Don't you see it? You alone are nothing compared to what we have gathered here! You are an insignificant piece of sh-"
L/N's head slammed to the ground, yet another sickening crack was heard, and a cry of agony was heard.
"If you even dare to finish that sentence, I'll cut your tongue out." I gasped, stepping back as Shinichi had slammed L/N's head down to the ground with the back of the handle of the gun.
"Shinichi!" I quickly brought him into a hug, holding him tightly. Shinichi's hands grasped me as he quickly brought me in. His hands shake as he pulls away to eye me. "Are you hurt? Did he hurt you?" He asked, making sure I was not sure.
"I'm okay. Are you okay? I'm sorry I left you-"
"No, no, I'm fine. I shouldn't have left you either." His hands gently hold my face, wiping away any dirt. My heart raced as I watched him; I leaned into his touch. I was so glad he was safe. A cough brought us out as I glanced over to L/N.
"He told me where Chiyo is; she's deeper down. He said we have to get to an elevator down this hallway." I glanced down the hallway and then back to Shinichi. A serious look in his eyes. "I see."
"I'll contact Detective Megure; he'll be able to get us some backup." I nodded. I reached out to hold his hand. I laced our fingers together; he looked up at me.
"Shinichi, I just....I'm scared, but I know we can do this." I gave him a smile, one that quivered so much that I was sure he could see it. A smirk came to him as he brought me closer.

Hello everyone! I keep disappearing, but I'm still here. I'm trying to mix my old writing style with my new writing style. I hope it's not bad! But I'm doing well. I did have some time off mentally with some at-home problems, but that is life, you know?
Things happen, and sometimes we can't control it, but that's okay! Because at the end of the day, you are still you.
I hope you guys enjoyed this small chapter, but I hope you guys are still interested in finishing my book with me. :D
