CHAPTER 121
IN LOVE
Aisha was dead.
The body was found outside their blown-up warehouse. She was in captivity for three days. Nawaz didn't go to the site himself. It wouldn't be too far-fetched to think the soldiers would be monitoring it. The body laid there for three more days, before they sent someone to pick her up. They never took the body back to the base.
No one knew what she might have revealed. Nawaz didn't go to the funeral either. If he was brutally honest, he hated that bitch. She had always thought herself superior, with her seduction and her relationship to their former boss. Now, when Nawaz was the region's boss, the position didn't seem all that daunting. His gaze trailed to the picture he had started keeping.
Kitten. When he would make her his, she would be at the same position as Aisha used to be. She would be far kinder to his men, far more loved. The photo was a pretty one, yet none of it seemed to be do her justice. She was so beautiful in real life. Her glittering, kind eyes. Even the fear that shone when she had seen him unrestrained. Even that was pretty. Her eyes were so big, emotions so vividly flickering. She was smiling in the picture. A big smile. He frowned. She had never smiled at him. Not even a little one. That would be his first task when he gets her. Make her smile at him.
The photo was merely of her face, but Nawaz had seen all of her. She wasn't very tall. But she was fit, and shapely, and Nawaz had spent hours debating whether he liked her body more or her eyes. It was always a close call. Oh well. He would have time to decide when he would destroy the academy and keep her as a prize.

Sanju had taken pleasure in killing Aisha. Karan hadn't doubted that would be the case. It was a swift death, and none of the unpleasantness of gore seeped into it. A clean snap of the neck. A far more merciful death than she probably deserved.
She wasn't all that useful, and in the three days she was in their charge, she seemed more trouble than she was worth. She had tried to run away, attacked guards, even injured a few and in general, was nothing but a bitch to have around.
Karan flicked through the report. It was from the cameras they had planted on their spies. Not much was picked up ever- jammers in most part of their bases- but they did catch glimpses of the news being talked of. A public display of her murder. Right in front of their burned down warehouse. What was it if not taunting?
The last time they had taunted them, his Bhabhi and niece were attacked. Would it be something this time too? Who would they attack? One of them? Or would they go the coward way again? He turned, inspecting the photo of Aisha. What a bitch.
Faizi sat down next to him. "Suna hai, Holika dehen ho gaya", he reported, and Karan's eyes flicked up in amusement. Aisha wasn't all that far from Holika, that was for sure. "Kuchh hai report mein?"
Karan shook his head. Their spies were low level enough that they had no idea about the base. Safe but not all that useful. "Nothing of importance."
They were sitting in the mess, and the two fell quiet when the cadets plopped down in front of them, their loud chatter breaking the general peace the men had. Karan, very briefly, wanted to know what happened to the cadets who used to be too afraid to ask if they had a Diwali break.
"- aur agar kisi insaan ko garam paani mein boil karenge, instead of-" Karan briefly looked up, concerned, before he shook their head. What were they on? How were they discussing a potential murder method so casually?
He looked back at the file, flicking through it again before closing it. He kept the file aside, his attention flickering to the page that fluttered down. The photograph of Aisha stared up at him. Karan frowned, grabbing the file again. How careless. Why hadn't they stapled it well enough? He reached for it, his outstretched hand halting in surprise when a finger tapped it first. He looked up, finding himself in the centre of his namoonas' attention. When had they stopped talking about whether boiling people was better in oil or water?
