Chapter 71: Three Statistical Errors and a Conspiracy
A dull thud echoed throughout the entire neighborhood.
It was the house where ESFP and INTJ lived. ESFP had decided to throw a post-exam party. So, she brought everyone over. Not invited. Brought. Without exception, without negotiation, without the right to reply.
The house was practically shaking on its foundations. Someone had let ENFP touch the playlist.
A fatal, irrevocable, inexcusable mistake.
- AND NOW, WE MOVE ON TO SONG NUMBER 47 ON MY 'COSMIC ENERGY AND CHAOS' LIST!
Nobody knew what that meant. Not even ENFP seemed to know.
Pop music exploded from the speakers. ESTP immediately shoved ENTP onto the dance floor with the enthusiasm of a general sending his troops to the front lines.
-Whoever stops moving loses!
-Loses what?
-I don't know!
-I LIKE IT!
They started dancing as if their survival depended on it. It wasn't pretty. It wasn't coordinated. It was something else entirely, a new genus that science had yet to classify.
Beside them, ESFJ and ENFJ were desperately trying to maintain a semblance of civilization.
-Would anyone like a drink?
-Watch out for the glasses!
-Has anyone seen ISFP? asked ESFJ.
Silence.
ISFP had been in the garden for forty minutes. She was looking at a flower. According to her, the flower was far more interesting than anything happening inside.
She had given it a name. The flower's name was Gino. Gino didn't talk, didn't make noise, and hadn't put pop music on the speakers. ISFP found him charming.
Meanwhile, ESFP was tossing confetti over everything that breathed and a few things that didn't. She had bought an entire stock at the beginning of the year. Might as well put it to use.
-IT'S A PARTY!
-You just threw some into my glass, ESTJ commented in a completely flat voice.
-IT'S A FESTIVE GLASS!
ESTJ looked at her glass. Looked at ESFP. Looked back at her glass. She drank it anyway. She had stopped resisting certain things. It was easier that way.
In a corner of the room, INFJ and INFP observed the disaster with the serenity of two anthropologists documenting the extinction of a civilization.
-Why are we here? asked INFP.
-I think it's a social experiment, INFJ replied.
-Do you really think so?
-No. But it sounds intelligent.
They nodded solemnly.
In reality, INFP was there because ENFJ had insisted, his parents had chimed in, and eventually, the collective pressure reached a psychologically untenable threshold.
INFJ, on the other hand, was there because Sacha had kicked him out of the house. His girlfriend was coming over. He had said...and INFJ was quoting verbatim: Get out of the house for today. I don't want my girlfriend falling in love with you the moment she sees you.
INFJ understood. Sacha was protecting his territory. It was a completely normal human reaction.
He just found the explanation to be a particularly embarrassing form of compliment.
