"You know, she barely acknowledged me today." Allie said to North angrily while walking in circles.
It's Tuesday night. North plays with her thumbs while sitting down on the living room couch. She's in a white bra and black slacks. She hasn't had the time to change out of her clothes yet because she walked in on Allie steaming angry around the kitchen. Her ponytail rests on her chest. Allie is in pink boxers and a black sports bra. Her hair is in a loose bun. Parts of her hair are hanging down in sections against her face and back.
"Well the game is this weekend and I'm sure she wants to win." North said.
Allie stops mid circle and faces North. She puts her hands on her hips and shakes her head.
"Yeah, but it's annoying when I drag my ass there after work. Give me some acknowledgement."
North smirked and looked up at Allie. "You sound like a baby."
"North it isn't funny! Something's changing between us., I can feel it." Allie said.
"Because she didn't acknowledge you for a few hours?" North said.
Allie sighs and grinds her teeth. She's already fed up with the situation and not being taken seriously is just going to make things worse.
"Yesterday, she said she didn't know if she would continue our relationship if she'd leave. I had this conversation with her mom that was even worse."
"Rewind," North said. "She told you she's basically leaning toward not being with you? So that's what been bugging you? Why didn't you tell me that yesterday when I came over?"
"Yeah," Allie said sadly. "And because I just wasn't all the way there."
North doesn't know what to say. In the back of her head she knew it would come down to Alix being unsure. The conversation they had while she was getting Alix ready wasn't too heart warming either.
"Did she say anything to you ... when you were helping her get ready before dinner?" Allie asked.
North shakes her head no. Allie stares at North harder.
"What?" North said quietly.
"Are you lying?" Allie asked.
North sighed. "She didn't really say anything."
Allie scoffed. "What does that even mean? I want to know your conversation word for word. Are you saying she didn't say anything at all about the game - our relationship?"
"I didn't really ask about your relationship. I know so much already from you." North said.
"You're hiding something." Allie said.
North bites her bottom lip. She folds her hands in her lap and tilts her head to the right.
"Tell me." Allie pushed.
"She didn't mention you much until the end. She asked me questions about my life and I asked about her college and stuff." North said.
"So why didn't you want to tell me that?" Allie asked.
"Because when I asked about her scholarship, she didn't seem so down by the fact that she'd be leaving you." North said sadly.
Allie tries to fight the oncoming lump forming in her throat. Her hands drop from her hips and face appears sunken in. She's trying not to think anything about it.
"We had amazing sex last weekend. That probably changed." Allie said confidently.
"Yeah, exactly. That's why it shouldn't be that important." North said.
