Allie walked through the city with a heavy mind and an empty heart. It was around 10:30 on a Saturday night. It seemed like the freckled brunette beauty didn't exactly carry her for the night. She couldn't let go of her past memories and arguments with her narrow-minded parents.
Her tattoo-covered hands were buried deep into her jacket pockets. Her jet-black hair was being blown in different directions because of the wind. Around this time not many people walked through the city by themselves. Allie however, knew these streets like the back of her hand; considering she grew up in them and learned life's most valuable lessons.
The tall buildings and malls were decorated with bright lights and massive screens. The concrete floors were uneven, cracked, and filled with unsanitary amounts of dirt - like every part of town. Allie felt most comfortable in these areas. It was where she could lose her mind for a few minutes, possibly hours.
Allie turned a right corner and stopped in front of a bar called "The Four Leaf Clover's". The bar stood out amongst all of the stores and restaurants. The letters in the sign shined a bright green and the background was a piercing white. The stench that surrounded the areas didn't bother Allie one bit. She was quite the heavy drinker herself.
She placed her hand on the knob to the glass door. She took a deep breath and opened the door, doubting if this was a good idea. She stepped inside and looked around the half-lit bar that was filled mostly with drunk men in their mid forty's or thirty's. The chairs were old and wrinkly dark brown stools. The wooden floor didn't help make it pop either.
Allie laid her hazel eyes on the bartender. The bar itself was filled with both genders of all ages. The bartender worked her job well, spraying various amounts of liquor and beer into several different glasses of all shapes and sizes.
The bartender was a slim tanned beauty. Her dark brown hair was up in a wavy ponytail. Her work shirt was short-sleeved, green, and tight, hugging her torso. The bar apron she had wrapped around her waist was black and stained with liquids. Allie walked over, unseen by almost everyone.
Allie spotted a seat at the early left side of the bar. She scanned the people sitting down drinking, as she put herself in plain sight. The bartender caught a quick glance of Allie with her dark brown eyes, coming towards her, as she quickly looked away after. Allie smirked to herself, pulling out the old and worn-down stool.
"I would like a glass of water please, Kendra," Allie said sarcastically.
Kendra turned to Allie with a glass in her hand. "Just a water?"
"Considering that I am going to be walking - don't wanna catch a ticket." Allie winked.
Kendra rolled her eyes, a little flattered by Allie's everlasting charisma. It never got old to her.
"What're you doing here Allie? I thought public bars weren't your thing." Kendra said placing the glass of water down in front of Allie.
Allie let out a short chuckle. "Is that any way to treat an old friend?"
"You're right, sorry." Kendra smiled and rolled her eyes.
"I just wanted to catch up with you, that's all." Allie shrugged, waiting to pop the question she had in mind for a while.
"Well I'm doing fine, thanks. Excuse me." Kendra walked down to the far right of the bar.
Allie watched, swayed by the way Kendra talked to her. She really started to doubt her confidence now as she watched Kendra attend to more important matters. Allie looked down at her glass of water and felt like ordering a real drink. She thought about the past issues she and Kendra had to deal with. Her flashbacks hit the deep emptiness that she filled with lust, drinking, tattooing, and smoking.
