For most girls, when A guy takes off his shirt, she would be looking at his 6-pack. But not this time. I was too busy gawking at Damens two black as night wings on his back. We're they real? I slowly out stretched my hand and gently stroked the feathers on his wings. They looked like an angels wings. I always expected an Angels wings to be white, though. Damen was just standing perfectly still as I walked around to his back. Nope, I was wrong, they were not fake, they were fully attached near the top of his back. Exactly where my scars are, I realized. When I finally got my voice back, although it was in a whisper, I asked, "what are you?
"I am an angel. A Fallen angel."
"What's a fallen angel?"
"Well, when an angel does something that the great Master, also known
As God, doesn't like, he gives you a second chance, but if you still refuse to listen, he will banish you from the gates of heaven, and when you are no longer a part of heaven, you fall, and when you land in the depths of hell, My Master, also known as Hades, or the devil, offers to take you in,"
Everything he said just had my head swirling. I sat down. "Sorry, just give me a minute to comprehend what you just said,"
So Ironically Damen was a Demon? And Angelica is an angel. Well, a fallen one. Hehees! "So you are like a Demon and your name is Damen?"
"Well no, I used to be an angel. Unlike Fallen Angels, Demons were created by my Master, Hades for the purpose of serving him. They don't have wings, and they often feed from blood, like vampires."
"Vampires exist too?"
"No. Vampires and witches and werewolves and whatever are myths,"
I don't care what he says though, I still like to think of him as Damen the Demon.

Okay. So apparently Damen used to be an angel, but he did something bad, and fell to hell. "How did your wings turn black?"
"Well, first let me explain that there are two forces of power. Light, and Darkness. All angels are given the power of light. their power is stored in their wings. So when an angel is banished, they are stripped from that power and thier wings become weak. That's when they fall. But My Master gives power to the fallen Angels again, but uses Dark power instead, so the wings, or the power source, is stained by darkness, turning it black,"
I could not believe Damen just explained all of that without taking a breath.
"So was I a fallen angel?"
"No, you were a normal angel. But you fell."
"So why aren't I like you?"
"Because... You weren't banished. Your wings were purposely removed, cut from your body, causing you to fall and land on earths surface with humans."
"Wouldn't I have died from that high of a fall?"
"No, angels heal quickly. And only one thing can kill an angel."
I felt like my head was going to explode. So I was an angel that fell but not a fallen angel? Well then. I could barely believe this, but it made sense. Damen always wore a hoodie to hide his wings, and he liked the dark because he was filled with dark power. I despise the dark because I am a being of light. Huh. It's like a fantasy movie.
Damen folded his wings neatly behind his back and sat beside me.
"Also, the reason that your necklace burned Angie was because its Onyx. That's a protection stone against darkness. There's also a stone called Bloodstone that does the opposite, and weakens Angels. These different kinds of stones are often carved into blades and weapons. Angels are immortal but there is one thing that can kill them, and that's Bloodstone. It's usually black with splotches of red, giving the illusion of blood stains on the rock. I have some in our weapon room,"
"So in the picture of me, I'm not in a costume," I said mostly to myself.
"What picture?"
I opened the locket and showed him the photo of me when I was still an angel. "Oh, your parents probably gifted you with that when you were a baby,"
We sat there while I thought about what question to ask next. "When you saw my scars you said you knew it, how did you know what I was?"
"Well, angels are gifted with powers. Mine was to see Auras and read the minds of humans. When I couldn't read yours, I got suspicious, and your aura is pure light. So to prove my suspicions, I had needed to see the scars on your back."
"So why were my wings removed?"
"Well I don't know, I was banished from heaven long before that time,"
"But-"
"Wait. I want to show you something, come with me," Damen stood up and grabbed my hand. Leading me outside, I asked, "what if someone sees you?"
"This house is far from civilization. So that's unlikely." Outside was cold. It was getting a little dark. Damen walked out into the forest a little bit more and turned around to face me. "Come here,"
"Why?"
"I want to show you something."
I walked over to Damen and he lifted me up. With me in his arms, Damen shot up,and into the sky. I gasped. Wind was blowing my hair crazily. I was flying!
I remembered when I was like 8, me and Nancy would pretend to be fairies and pretended to fly. I'd wanted to fly back then. But when I turned 10 I got a reality check and gave up on that dream. But here I was now.
Damen kept flying higher and higher until we were surrounded in clouds. I looked around and could barely see a thing. But soon enough we rose above the clouds and I gasped again. The wind was stilled and I couldn't even find words to describe the glorious skies around us. The sun was setting and the sky was a swirl of colours. I felt like I was having a déjà-vu The clouds below looked so fluffy. In awe, I looked at Damen to see if he thought this was the most glorious thing in the world too, but he wasn't looking at the scenery around us, he was watching me. He was smiling as he said, "as soon as you saw this, your face lit up. And I think it's not just because of the beauty it is, it also triggered a memory. You've probably been here before,"
He was probably right. I wrapped my arms around his neck and rested my head on his shoulders. He flinched. "What?"
"Can you move your necklace?" I looked and saw that my necklace was pressed against his skin.
"Oh, sorry,"
Carefully moving my necklace away from him, I looked out at the sky and watched it turn from light colours to violet and then dark blue. I shivered. Damen started flying back down to the ground. He seemed stronger, I guess because of the night and darkness. When we reached the ground, instead of putting me down, Damen held onto me as he walked over to a small area in the forest and sat down. He wrapped his wings around us, shielding me from the wind.
We stayed like that for a while and eventually I think I fell asleep.
