~Hana~
I'm sitting on a bench waiting for Raziel. He told me he would be right back, he is getting supplies for a picnic. There is a dining hall but he told me that having a picnic would be better. I mean, for lunch, maybe, but not really dinner.
I see Raziel coming back holding a picnic basket. Whenever I went on picnics, I never actually used a picnic basket. "Are you ready?"
"Yeah," Raz came over and lifted me up. He told me that he wanted to bring me somewhere and this was faster. He lifted me into the air, his white wings glistening in the sun. We soared up, and this reminded me of when Damen had flown me up above the clouds. But then it had been at night. This time, I could see the sun shining on us.
Raz turned to look at me and smiled. "If you push me away, you will fall," he leaned closer to me.
He was going to take advantage of this moment to kiss me? And I can't even do anything about it? I look down and see that we are like a thousand feet in the air. If I push him, he is right, I will fall. I don think so. I reach out my hand and slap him. He looked surprised. It probably didn't hurt him though. "Ouch. What was that for?"
"For trying to kiss me. When I couldn't do anything about it! If you want me to like you, stop. Stop trying to make me do what I don't want to do!"
"Your my match, Len. Even if you don't want to be with me, you will have to pretend while we're in heaven."
I look down at the ground below us. I don't want to be in the air anymore, especially not with him. I need to feel solid ground again. "Let me down."
"Are you sure?" He held me away from him. I look down at the ground far below us.
"No!" He lets go and quickly grabs my wrists. I gasp. I put my full trust out on this guy? He could drop me anytime and I could go falling to my death. I've fallen one too many times, thank you very much. "Please don't,"
"Will you kiss me?"
"No."
He lifted two fingers from each Hand.
"Stop. I won't kiss you just because your threatening me! I bet Evangeline will love to hear how you almost dropped her daughter,"
"Sorry I upset you, Len, you know I was just kidding,"He landed with a quiet thump onto soft green grass. He let go of me and I staggered. He caught my arm to steady me. I pulled my arm away. "Bring me back, please."
"I could, but I don't think your in the mood to fly again. Let's have that picnic now,"
The last thing I wanted to do was have a picnic with him, but he was right, I didn't want to fly, either. Looking around I see he didn't have the basket.
"Where's our food?" I asked. Then I saw the basket floating in mid air towards us. I had forgotten about Raziels ability to move objects with his mind. I'm still not quite used to that. He unfolded an indigo coloured blanket and told me to sit down.
I hadn't noticed the scenery around us until now. This was a patch of grass in the middle of a beautiful forest. I could see the castle like building we came from in the distance. Still not sure what to call it. the trees were tall, but the leaves allowed room for light to filter through them. I could hear birds chirping in the distance, and could smell something amazing. I looked over at Raziel who was pulling out dishes of delicious looking food that I had no idea how it all fit into that small basket. He must have noticed my confused expression because he chuckled.
"Magick," he told me. I watched while he took out a plate and put some food onto it. My mouth watered.
"I got it straight from the cookhouse. It was for the big supper in the dinning hall, but I told them I was getting it for Evangeline's daughter. They didn't believe me at first."
"Oh," he handed me a plate full of potatoes, smoked ham, and an assortment of vegetables. I dug in without caring that he was watching me. The food was so good...it tasted like heaven. I guess this is where that expression came from.~Raziel~
I watched Len while she ate. Why did I have to try kissing her while I was in the air? She just looked so beautiful with the sun making her eyes shine and her hair was blowing in the breeze. But then she got sort of pissed at me. Especially after I almost let her fall from the sky. I could have just used my powers to stop her from hitting the ground. I thought she would think it was fun. Now ive ruined my chance at her trusting me. After the cerimony tomorrow and Len starts going to celestial school, she will make new friends and will probably avoid me. I mean, I admit I've been taking advantage of the fact that I'm the only person her age that she knows here, but I am her match after all.
After we finished eating, I offered to fly Len back to her room, but she refused. So instead we walked back through the forest. Once we arrived, Len told me that she wanted to be alone in her room for a little while. So I was heading down the hall on the main floor of the Fortress, which is the large building that Len lives in, where all the High council live, actually, and see Evangeline. She is walking over to me.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" Said Evangeline.
"Okay," she started walking to the elevator. I followed.
"I have a few matters to discuss with you, mainly because of your role as my daughters match."
Soon we entered a room I assumed was her office and we sat at a desk.
"So, Raziel, I have heard that you have been skipping shifts. As a Guardian of Heaven, you must always be ready and prepared, and you have been spending way more time with Lena than participating in guarding our home,"
Uh oh. I knew someone would notice sooner or later.
"Well, I had meant to go in today, but Lena told me that she felt lonely and wanted to spend time with me, and I couldn't say no." Technically I wasn't lying, I was just stating what Len was clearly thinking in her head. Evangeline sighed.
"I know, it breaks my heart when I leave for work knowing that she is going to be left alone all day. Alas, you must make sacrifices. She will be jointing celestial school soon enough. Therefore, you are still expected to show up at work tomorrow.
"Oh! That reminds me, it's her ceremony tomorrow. Change of plans, you will need to come, because In it, I will mention that you are still to be her match,"
"Okay," I told her. "Anything else, Evangeline?"
"No, thank you, but it's not too late to take over your shift at the gates,"
I mentally sighed. How could I just stand there at the gates of heaven knowing that Len is sitting in her room by herself?~Hana~
Today is apparently some celebration for my return. Evangeline is going over what I have to say.
"We will all be outside and the High council will be there. I will say the introduction and then you will come up. You will wave and smile at everyone. Then say something about yourself like how your wings were cut off and tell them how you were on earth for a very long time. I will say that Raziel is still to be your match and he will come up beside you and confirm that. He will take your arm and escort you to each council member as they bless you and welcome you back to heaven. Lastly, the ceremony part will end and you are free to mingle among all the angels who will want to meet you."
That was not what I was expecting. "So your saying that I have to tell everyone a Speech about my life?"
"Yes,"
"Okay, can I make a request?"
"I guess so,"
"Change my name to Hana. I'm not Magdalena anymore, mom, Hana has been my name for 13 years and I don't want to change that."
Her eyes widened. "No angel can change their name. Not unless they...fall."
"But technically I did fall. To earth."
"Fine, I will see what the rest of the high council says about this. In the meantime, get ready. Your dress is in your closet."
With that, Evangeline left.
