Chapter 31~Part 1• Trouble In Paradise

(A.N: PLEASE READ THE A.N AT THE BOTTOM, THERE ARE ADDITIONS TO THIS CHAPTER!)

"Oh wow, look at all those cheese balls!" Ryan exclaimed.

There is really no reasonable explanation as to why this store has so many 'cheese and bacon balls', aka cheese balls as Ryan calls them.

Struggling to hold in my laugh and seem oblivious to their conversation, in the next isle I heard Mike respond. "The owners must be related to you, they must be crazy about them." Mike sniggered.

"Dude, do you think I could get them to sign a packet of cheese balls for me?" Ryan asked Mike, with total seriousness.

Mike rolled his eyes, used to his friends antics. "Just give it a break Ryan."

"Fine, Mr. Grumpy pants." Ryan replied childishly. At this point I couldn't hold in my laughter anymore and let out a howl of happiness. Ryan and Mike turned in my direction, noticing me eavesdropping for the first time.

"Kids, let's go!" Blake suddenly popped his head out from the doors of the service station.

The three of us walked out of the station and back to the car, Bridget ran out and jumped in the car also. Blake took the role of driving, telling us a story of how he spoke to a lady and she highly recommended a restaurant that's only 10 minutes from here, so we would be stopping there for lunch.

True to his word, we ended up parking the car just over 10 minutes later. During the car ride, Blake sent me cheeky glances through the rearview mirror. I have no idea what that's about, but it's playful and maybe a little bit sexy as well, so I'm not complaining.

We all eagerly exited the car and walked along the sidewalk until Blake stopped in front of a cafe. He read the name and approved, leading us inside.

We were greeted by sweet scents, red and white checked table-tops, endless supply of baked goods along with some savoury, and further down the building was a small area which looked like a restaurant was functioning.

It was unusual how a cafe and restaurant we're located in the same building, but I came to love the idea and convenience of it. Obviously I'm not the only one, as the entire place was buzzing with people and it's only lunchtime.

We debated whether to eat in the restaurant or in the cafe, ending in Bridget and I's choice - the restaurant. After all, there was more room and buzzing.

We all acted civilised enough, which was rare, but I think we were all kind of exhausted. Eventually we ordered and the food was delicious. My meal was a vegetarian burger, not that I am vegetarian or have anything against meat, but it sounded delicious and true to its word, it was. While sitting with Bridget, Mike, Ryan and Blake I realised these are the few people that I never get tired of and can spend heaps of time with them, and it will still be not enough.

Random and specific observation, I know.

I don't even want to think about what's going to happen at the end of the year, where our 12 years of schooling ends. After graduation, some or maybe all of us are going to hit university, and I don't want to think about the difference in the amount of time we spend together now compared to the amount of time we will spend together in those years. I really hope it's not too great a drop.

"Earth to Ella, do you copy?" Blake's voice cut me out of my thoughts.

I snapped my head to Blake, noticing he was wearing a slightly concerned look. I gave him a reassuring smile, dropping my hands from my chin and resting them on the table directly between us.
