Chapter 3• Real Scary Stuff
(First day of school)
beep. beep. beep.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
I suddenly turned off my alarm as it was blasting through the whole house.
"Ella! Your alarm woke me up, do you know how long it was ringing for?! Get up now or I'll come in with a bucket of water!" My dad startled me, he wasn't much of a morning person either. I decided to get up for real because I know if i didn't then my dad would do exactly what he said he would.
"I'm up, Commader Daryn."
"Hurry, it's 7:19, your 4 minutes late, and I'm driving you to school before going for a job interview"
"Sir yes, sir" I said under my breath. I do love my dad and there was barely any times where I'd actually be annoyed at him, but today, this morning, I was very.
I went into the bathroom and took a quick shower. 10 mins in and out. That's a record for me.
I pulled out some jeans and a singlet top, and then put a jacket on top. It was coming into spring months, but still quite cold.
I did my make-up, which was quite minimal. I put on my mascara carefully, to make my brown eyes stand out more. I would never leave the house without mascara. I tied my brown straight hair into a high ponytail and put a small bow matching my outfit around the hair tie. Lastly I put on a pale pink/nude lip gloss. It took me exactly 34 mins to get ready.
I went downstairs, still abit unfamiliar with the house, in Melbourne I had a 1 story house that was quite in the country side of town.
I sat down at the dark wooden table and had a fruit salad and I had my favourite type of coffee, flavoured with chocolate. Surprisingly, my mum prepared my breakfast for me, which she hasn't done since I started high school. And now I was in year 12.
My phone rang at the same time my dad was asking me if I was ready to go. Not even looking at the caller, I answered my phone while yelling 'I'm ready' down the house and into the phone.
"Ready for what?...." I heard Bridget's confused face say. I can just imagine her right now scrunching up her eyes wonderingly.
"Ahhh sorry, meant that for my dad. What's up?
"I was going to make sure that your coming to school" she said matter-of-factly, shaking away previous conversation.
"Yes I'm coming, can you meet me in the car park where my mum parked yesterday?"
"Yea sure, meet ya there I'm on my way in a few minutes."
"Okay, I'm leaving now. See ya"
"See ya." Bridget said and we both hung up the phone. I walked up to my dad's car. Luckily he was in a better mood now.
*~*~*~*~*~*
In the car ride I was making small talk with him, although neither of us could really be bothered starting up a conversation. I found out he and my mum are going to apply for a job at the local police station. Thats the interview he's going to today. Dad has Abit of experience with that. But mum? Wow.
A few minutes later we arrived at the school parking lot. My dad gave me a kiss on the cheek and started going on about safety and how to and not to act.
"Don't leave the school grounds, keep your phone on you, if Bridget isn't there, make sure you find another girl. If any boy you don't like does anything-" I cut my dad off before he continued.
