Sephiroth x Reader: Fight Me

This is Sephiroth during the events of Crisis Core before he goes all Jenova-crazy. Just so ya know :p

(Y/N) = Your Name, (Y/F/B) = Your Favourite Band, (Y/F/C) = Your Favourite Colour

Disclaimer: I don't own Final Fantasy or any of its characters.

Music by (Y/F/B) was blaring through your headphones as you were working out, sweat building up but not quite breaking as you breathed evenly through your nose while doing pull-ups. Dressed in a simple (Y/F/C) tank top and black sweat pants, you were alone in one of the many gyms in the building, the majority of the other rooms being pitch black but this one being illuminated by the shitty blinding lights courtesy of Shinra. Still, you could deal with the lights if it meant peace as you worked out.

See, being the only female SOLDIER currently working for Shinra had its downsides. The main one being that every other SOLDIER in the building, excluding a few, would act as though they'd never seen a woman before whenever you were around. Another was that they'd always mock your fighting abilities, regardless of the many female Turks that had been seen fighting. It was quite annoying. That was why you usually waited until after midnight to go through with a workout, when all of the other SOLDIERS were asleep or doing other things. It wasn't that you were afraid to face them; you just didn't have the patience.

"(Y/N)," a deep voice greeted you from behind, and you didn't need to turn to identify it. "I thought I might find you here."

"Sephiroth," you greeted your mentor.

Yeah, you were the apprentice of the silver haired General. Many found that hard to believe, but frankly you didn't care what they thought. You still had Zack from your childhood, and you got along great with Angeal and Genesis, so why would you need other people?

"Should I inform Genesis and Zack that this is where to find you at this hour?" Sephiroth questioned - almost teasingly, though often that seemed impossible for the reserved man - walking around to face you as you continued your workout. "They're starting to get worried, what with how often you're declining their offers to go out in the evenings."

"I'd much rather be improving myself than wasting time at a bar, thank you," you said calmly, the answer sounding almost robotic. It was true though, socializing was so often a waste of time.

"Why not work out during the day?" the silver haired man questioned you, with his beautiful Mako eyes scanning you up and down.

"You bloody well know why," you growled slightly. "The four of you boys may be able to respect me, but that courtesy hardly extends to the rest of the men here."

"So you're running?" he questioned shrewdly.

"More like giving them a chance," you sighed as you dropped down and slipped your headphones to around your neck. "Another sexist comment and someone might just lose a few limbs."

Your mentor gave a rare chuckle and nodded. "Fair enough. Do you wish for me to remain here with you?"

You felt yourself flush slightly. "I don't require some sort of bodyguard," your voice was harsh.

"I was simply wondering if you'd like a sparring partner. I have no true desire to socialize tonight, myself."

You paused at his words. You and Sephiroth had never actually fought yet. He'd either put you through V.R. training or have you fight another SOLDIER, usually Zack.
