I fall next to Ogami, him asking if I'm alright. When I look back up, Hitomi's face becomes blank, like something went wrong. "What the hell happened, it was supposed to go off by now?" Heiki pops out of nowhere, saying, "I took some measures of my own. Yuki took care of the kids, prince bought time while we got the other kids out of there." Now that I look, the code breakers who were here before, are just coming in through the door again. All except Toki. Hitomi's expression forms into something I've never seen on him. Pure rage. "Heiki?" He hisses! Coming at him. The two have a quick battle consisting of one strike. "I wouldn't use that much power if I were you ace. You'll go lost." Frustrated, Hitomi speaks. "I''m not going lost!" Heiki is grown to the other side of the tower. "Do you know why I chose the last destination to be at the radio tower?" Heiki realizes something, fright clouding his face. "Don't do it ace." But it's to late, Hitomi stands under the antenna and says, "my electricity will set off the bombs all over the country. I was hoping it wouldn't have to come to this." Then he relieves his electricity. Heiki tries to stop him, but Heiki's ability is nothing to Hitomi, and he easily evades the attack. "Stop Hitomi!" Sakura tries, but to no prevail. It's like Hitomi has become a different person. All of a sudden, a black silk like stuff surrounds the tower, stopping the electric signal. I turn to see prince is the cause of it all. "Very well, then I'll take care of you all first." I stay to the sides, keeping out of the battle. In all honesty, I'm still pretty she'll shocked that my brother, the one who saved me from the wrath of my parents, is set on killing so many people. "Stop Hitomi's!" Yuki tries, telling him this isn't like him. Hitomi even tried to kill kanda for telling him how his saving her changed her. Toki makes his appearance, making me wonder if he's the one who saved the prime minister, but don't see him anywhere. Wait. A man, blonde, stands watching the whole scene with a smile on his face, as if he's enjoying it from up on that bridge across the top of the room. Eden. Fury consumes me and I feel my power rage inside at the mere sight of his joy. The battle unravels as I have the minister in my custody. "We meet again minister. Are you enjoying yourself you sick bastard? To bad you won't be living long?" "What The!" I leave him no time to finish before giving him a little show with my ability through his body. I muffle his screams with my hand, surprised I suddenly know how to use my ability. Eden is unconsciousness for now, my pore keeping him that way until I feel like bringing him back from his slumber. The battle takes a pause as the code breakers talk amounts themselves, starting with prince. "Why do you bring innocent people into your plans?" Hitomi doesn't miss a beat, answering in a heartbeat. "I've saved many people, I used to look at their smiles and take them as a reward. But, as I walked through the streets one day with a dead code breaker in my arms, I knew they were ignorant people, unaware that they're being saved. They're not innocent." Again the attacks start, all useless against Hitomi's power.... All up until Sakura hugs him. "Hitomi, you need to stop!" Instead of that compassionate smile I've always known Hitomi to wear, one of anger cloaks his face before he grabs her throat. "And you, inter feigning until the very end." I drop Eden and jump down, ready to stop Hitomi and his madness, but before I reach him, Ogami speaks up. I've been beaten to something a lot over the past few minutes, I might be the slower in the bunch. "It's over. You've entirely steps into evil." Ogami takes off his ring on the hand that once wore a glove, seconds later being surrounded by a creature created by his blue flame. Wholly crap, I thought he went lost. "Determined to oppose me are we Ogami?" I move back out of the way, letting the two fight it out? I see the two talking to each other, making me wish I was a tad bit better at reading lips while they're moving at rapid speed. "Your flame won't be able to save you with this much electricity." Hitomi cries over the roar of their working abilities. "Hitomi don't!" The other code breakers snap into actions protecting Ogami from his fate, but he still won't move. "Damn it Ogami move!!" I'my scream is like talking to a deaf person as the blue flame of Ogami I gulfs Hitomi's electricity. Murmured are shared amongst the code breakers, but Hitomi's words silence us again. "No, I won't let anybody get in the way! I'm not finished yet!" "No! Don't do It 1!" Yuki pleads. Hitomi shoots a final burst of electricity into the antenna, only to be stopped by ogami's new empowered flames. Ogami's flame encases Hitomi next and I know what about to happen next. "Noooooooo" I plead, knowing I'll never save Hitomi in time, watching as the blue flame brightens and heats. I see Ogami's eyes. I've seen them blank, angry or ticked off, but never sad like this. I'm held back by princes arms. I use my ability, protecting Hitomi from getting hit worse then needed be. As the light disperses, I hear the voice of the other code breakers asking what I'm doing here. Still the only thing on my mind is the form or my brother falling to the ground. Kanda is here to. Sakura? Sakura and Yuki run to ogami while kanda and I make a break for it to Hitomi's side. "Hitomi! What the heck are you doing you idiot?" Tears are already finding their way down my face, Hitomi bringing it to my attention. " I guess I failed huh? Olive, kanda? Get away from me!" Our names come out softly, but his eyes become unfocused and he shoves the two of us away as his body flops to the ground, electricity bursting out uncontrolled. Is he ok? "Code end." Heiki mumbles close by in the now very quiet room. Code end? The blackness filling my vision is not very unusual to me anymore, but the timing could be better. I see Hitomi and me talking at the table having lunch. He's telling me that research he's found code breakers to have a code end, where our abilities eventually consume us. And that he was starting to show symptoms." I must have only been out a second, cause Hitomi is already sitting up right again, the code breakers, even Ogami, surrounding him. "I remember Hitomi. You told me you were dying. That's why you wouldn't tell me." More tears I can't seem to fight anymore flood like a flash flood down my face. I'm happy I don't wear make up. He brings me in for a hug, me washing his shirt with my tears. "I have to finish this. I'm not done yet! I have to avenge those people on the wall!" Before I know it, Hitomi uses me as a stand to get up and makes his way to the door screaming. "I failed, but at least I can see the prime minister die by my hand." "What do you mean Hitomi? Last I checked he was still glued to the building." Realization hits me as Heiki pops into my mind. He can manipulate computers. Traitor. I don't see him trying to help Hitomi. Before I have a chance to punch the white haired guy, I must have shown a crazy look in my eyes, cause I find myself struggling in toki's arms, Ogami punching Hitomi in the face. I need to help him! "You talk about killing people! You've sacrificed so many already with your bombs on buildings. The old you never would have taken a life! HE did all he could to protect them! To see the smiles! That was you!" Ogami delivers the final blow as I sink further to the ground in toki's grasp. "Let me go toki!! Please." My words come out difficult to understand considering the follow up of crying, stuffy nose and I uneven breaths, make sure of that. Let's just say I'm not very prideful and elegant right now. Toki for the first time says nothing to my pleads, watching the broken Hitomi again crash to the ground, now sitting while leaning on a pole that keeps the building from crashing down. "Hitomi is..." I stop Toki from uttering another word, not wanting what he says to be true. "No, he's not!" Everybody is silenced as Hitomi speaks, starting with Yuki who rushed to him first before everybody else made it to the circle. "Yuki, you were always the first one to pounce on me when I came back from a mission." His face becomes forlorn, as is everybody else's face. Before I left the code breakers, I started having symptoms of code end, and I was scared. I didn't want to die alone after I erased olives memories. I understood how the code breakers felt who came and gone before me. I don't expect you all to understand, I doubt you'd understand even if you wanted to. I wanted enough time to reform Eden, but once I realized I was nearing code end, I new I was running out of time. What was I going to accomplish before code end? I knew I could never forgive Eden for what it's done. But I wanted to save my brothers and sisters with abilities. I wanted to spear them the feelings I have right now, letting them live out their lives to the fullest like the rest of humanity." Hitomi slumps a little, trying to get up again. I help him along with kanda, but the fact that he's putting all his weight on my makes me realize that this is serious. And that I'm here living the moment and watching my brother suffer. "I'm sorry kanda, olive. Prince, I give you credit for still standing after fighting yukihina. Amazing, but I wish we could have taken the kids." Prince tries to speak, but gets interjected by Hitomi. "I'm not blaming you. Heiki, I trusted you till the end. Even then when you were acting odd, I still believed I could trust you just like back then when we worked together as code breakers. Still if you hadn't seized my transmission point, my plan would have succeeded. You got me." A moment of silence rests on the people in the room, Hitomi looking like he's thinking about the old days. "Ogami! Your power sure surprised me. But you didn't finish me off. A long ago I told you to keep attacking until you've totally subdued your enemy. Your to soft." Unlike the rest of the code breakers, Ogami doesn't stay quiet after Hitomi speaks. "W-what is with you!" Did Ogami just stutter? "Why are you sitting there looking all pitiful. Why did you let yourself be beaten by me? Your code one! The strongest out of all of us! Because of code end you've been reduced to this. Didn't you once call yourself the code breaker of justice? If you die, how can you become that? It's like your dying in vain!" Wow, this is the most I've ever heard Ogami speak... That I can remember anyway. "Maybe. I wanted to stick it out until the end. But with this body, I doubt I'll make it. Ogami, stand forth. You who defeated the mastermind behind this wicked plot. You're the real code breaker of justice." Surprise contradicts ogami's usual scowl as Hitomi continues. "You and prince, Toki and Yuki, and of course Heiki to. All stand out under the light of the sun. Then Hitomi turns to me with that look of childish happiness and relief that this is all over, that he can finally rest in peace. "Don't go back to Eden olive. Take that as my last request. I was the one who took your memories." Another flash back takes me to another place of when I first became a code breaker. Hitomi was always there to protect me. Another is an argument, where I finally remember why Hitomi became a code breaker... It was to protect me. The last one is of before he erased my memories, where we talked about Eden wanting me for special plots, and how code end could be very close if that were to happen Hitomi was protecting me the entire time. "Why didn't you tell me sooner? Why didn't you tell me when you first saw me at the hospital?" Tears fall harder as I run up to him again for a hug, ruining his shirt some more. "If I would have given you your memories back then, you would have hated me for not returning them fully and I could let you believe a lie I would have made you believe happened. So I thought I'd rather have you chose to be on my side. I had to have you trust me and only me. Now that I'm this weak and near code end, I can't give you the memories back fully anyway. I'm sorry olive." He whispers, patting my head one last time. With that, memories flood into my mind, bits and pieces from us together at first, then my entire childhood returns. But only those moments with him, the other code breakers still remain a mystery to me. "Hitomi." Energy pours through me, wondering if I can put some of my ability into Hitomi since we're siblings with the same power. "What's this olive? What are you doing? If you put your energy into me you'll die to." I sniffle, but don't stop cause I already see an improvement in his health. Now that he's a little stronger, he shoves me away, refusing my help. "No olive. You know what happens when you go lost." The worried expression from so long ago, and those same exact words he always warned me with. Then he looks back at the group full of surprised faces. "if you all shine under the sun, surely nobody else will have to die lonely. Hitomi places his head back on the pole, done speaking and probably waiting for his end. We all walk up to him, my guess is for a group hug cause that's what I'm gonna do, until the prime ministers voice shatters the happy moment into millions of pieces. "That's impossible." Hitomi's eyes fly open and glare at the approaching man. Damn, I forgot about him. "Nice try olive, but leaving me up there unconscious and not coming back was not very smart." Everybody looks at me. "There were so few victims in this incident that it'll soon be forgotten. If you come forward now, the people will only fear people like you, power users. So now it's all settled. My eyes flare at the prime minister, spitting ever word. "How could you be so cruel. He came to you! He came and talked to you and you gave him the cold shoulder. He tried to make everybody happy. Why didn't you listen you bastard!" Ministers cold words shut me down like flipping a switch to a machine. "It's not like it matters now. Why should I listen to mere code breakers?" That's when I fully lose it. "Because it was code breakers that saved your ass and about 50,000 others while you were tied to a pole about to be bombed. Whoever saved you probably needs you, or they would have killed you themselves. And weren't you the one who chose Hitomi to be a code breaker?" The prime minister looks like he's considering my words, thinking, but what he says just takes the ice ing off the cake. "Yes I did! And I'm regretting it. Who knew Hitomi would be such a terrorist? So thanks to Hitomi, I'll be more careful of the code breakers I chose, starting with the next one." I punch the man in the face, followed by Hitomi flames up with electricity, using the last of his strength to get up and make an attempt to get close enough to use his ability. "Fujiwara! I won't let you play around with power users lives anymore!" The next thing I know, everybody is using their powers against Hitomi. What? Having enough of this, I decide to help Hitomi for the last time, refusing to let such a man breath another breath. "Code 0, don't you dare start to!" Toki, that was the first time he used my code name. Still I don't stop, wishing Hitomi through. Even with my strength, we were outnumbered and prince tackles me to the ground. Before Hitomi is Stopped, I see a tinny sliver of electricity move through the ministers head, and I know Hitomi fulfilled his mission. I stop struggling, a smile on my face at Hitomi's wit. He's a trouble maker until the end. Heiki has Hitomi's waist secured, while Yuki the rocks ready to fall on the minister. Prince had me down while Ogami holds Hitomi's arm, talking silently to him. "You can't. You can't do any more evil. I don't want to see you doing it. Leave the rest to us and don't heap any more evil on yourself. Leave the rest to us." Oh man, those eyes of his, filled with so much pain. Hitomi has such a big effect on him it makes me wonder why the universe works like this. Why did it have to be Hitomi? "I'll never forget what you taught me." Ogami continues, closing Hitomi's hand. "I'll never forget you." He finishes, making me wonder if my brother said the same thing I said, about as long as he remembers, he'll live on. Prince releases me so I can get a closer look at Hitomi, his face the usual softness as he speaks. "I see, so you must have grown up without me watching. I'm relieved now Ogami." He falls into ogami's arms. I run over, giving Ogami a hand with Hitomi's body. "Olive, there's a clock under the couch. It's my time. Remember me." I try to put more power into Hitomi, but it's like he's blocking it with all his might. "Don't, You know what happens when you go lost." He whispers. Those were his last words to me ever. I think as his body becomes limp in my arms and the last of his power is used to form a bird above us. He used to always do those electricity birds for me. He always..... I think I ran out of tears, cause no more will come. I call out to Hitomi, but there's no sign he even heard. I fall to the ground, the corps of Hitomi in my lap. From the back I hear Heiki's final words to Hitomi. "You did your job well, Ace." I don't look around the room, but I can feel the despair in the air and for once since I can remember, I actually can consider my mood truly forlorn. I hear kanda, my to go to teacher, crying on the side as I look down at the once life filled body. At the person who brightened the day just by walking in the room. He said that was me, but in truth, I think everybody thought that about him. The guy that protected me from beginning to end. "So he finally died. That man was a trouble maker till the end." I can't react to the ministers words. Instead,Toki reads all our minds and takes a whack at the man. Following his actions are words that definitely describe him. "You asshole." Everybody ditches the prime minister, circling around me and Hitomi. "Why?" I mumble, unsure whether to run and hide, pretending Hitomi is waiting at home for me just like the old days, or stay and accept. I think Hitomi would want me to take option two. "Hitomi killed a lot of people, so he paid for that." Sakura takes the words right out of my mouth. "There must have been another way." Emotion running while in ogami's words, he says, "well it's done! You can't bring back the dead." And he leaves the building. I had no idea Hitomi was responsible for the bombings happening in the news. I had no idea he was responsible for the deaths of so many people. Time passes and eventually, Yuki and Toki begin pulling me away from Hitomi's body, wrenching him from my grasp and dragging me away. Sakura and puppy follow, me realizing that puppy is here, but not fully being able to acknowledge it. It's as if I've lost the ability to speak, only scream, making the hall absolutely silent except for our steps echoing around the hall. Not even the sight of mom and dad..... Foster mom and dad, running down the hall and hugging Sakura and I, whispering the lies everybody says in these situations. "It's going to be alright." Turns out mom and dad knew about Ogami, Toki, prince, Yuki and.... Hitomi, all along. The one thing they don't know is that he's biological brother, and I'm a power user. The only thing that brings me joy is the hidden camera I snuck onto Heiki so I can see what Hitomi did to the prime minister. Sakura's mostly the one talking to our parents, filling them in on the situation and that it's over now. Once we get home, I go strait to my room and lock myself in, snag my computer and log into the camera, watching Heiki and the prime ministers reaction.
Ok guys, I'm sooooo close to the end it's scary! In all honest, I'm scared to end it. I've worked on it for a long time and watched the readers on it grow to my satisfaction. Still, next chapter will most likely he my last in the story. Thx for reading everyone! Vote if ya liked!
