Haha this trickster is making head way, that's fer sure. =3 I'm so excited to introduce Yuki and have Keane be a part of this. I liked Yuki the best out of all the Code breakers, but I'm still considering making Toki her love interest. Haha jk, the perv. Anyway, I love watching my readers go up and my votes for this sorry increase, so vote for me please! I love it and it gives me inspiration to keep writing. Haha. Enjoy!!
My morning walk turns into a sweaty jog. After I find my bag already packed and to find mom and dad already at work. I resist the urge to skip the day, forcing my legs to do their job and take me to a place I'd rather not be anyway. Being there would mean facing code breakers and in all honesty, I need a break. I look back at my normal life of then and find I urned for it more then I ever have before. Now I'm a code breaker, finding myself being slowly broken by codes I never understand, but I guess Im supposed to unravel. Huh, guess code breaker really suits people like us. We solve codes of life, judging people based on that. I think of the smiles code, breakers bring on the faces of the kids depending on their fantasy world to keep them safe. Im on school grounds a little earlier than I hoped, then I remember I'm pretty late. Picking up the pace, I end up getting a good body slam from a tall finger, built enough to be male. I look up to find Keane Mitchell. "We have to stop meeting like this." He rubs his chest and I agree. "You have a rock head you know that? You sure that's not what it's filled with?" He teases. I roll my eyes at his smart mouth reply before giving one of my own. "Yeah, I tend to throw them at people I don't like." I make a big show of getting a rock from the top of my head. He breaks into a chuckle fest, and I follow. Eventually we calm down enough to continue the conversation. "So your saying you've lost a few rocks?" I chuckle. "Why, did you want to borrow some?" He gives a wry smile. "Maybe. You have time tonight for a little one on one tutoring." I tilt my head a tad to the side, narrowing my eyes in a playful way, but have no intentions of actually answering. "You know, to help me find some more rocks." I give a gut wrenching laugh and we walk down the halls. "By the way, what are you doing out of class?" I question. He raises an eyebrow, something I probably still haven't mastered. "What are you doing out of class?" He mimics. I stick out my tongue and say the oldest line in the book. "I asked you first." He closes his eyes and shakes his head. "Are you really going to have that as your comeback?" I can tell he's full out laughing on the inside, but sticks with a smirk on the outside. "What? Were you expecting me to say something like wouldn't you like to know? Or geez if this was a test question you'd fail." The smirk never leaves his face. "That's more I like it. For some reason that sounds more like you." We have a silent staring contest that lasts forever.... But I do tend to exaggerate, so let's call it thirty seconds? I'm not sure if what he said was more of an insult or a compliment, either way I'm not going to crack first. He breaks under pressure by holding up a note. "This." He says. I snatch the slip of paper to find that it's a bathroom pass. "Good timing I guess." I hand it back and he accepts it with that smirk I swear he's been wearing since the whole hall question. "Guess so. I just hope we can meet on purpose next time, not by you having a go at nocking me over." His hand takes a nose dive into his pocket, retrieving a small piece of paper and a pen. He scribbles down his number and I gladly accept it. I ripe a piece off and outstretch my hand for the pencil. Once the writing device is in my clutches, I to put my number in ink and hand it to him. "Now you better get going, I think you've been in the bathroom way to long." I tease. With that said, he rushes off in a hurry, leaving behind a few curse words that I'd rather not repeat. I take a good look at his number; a little happy that I got the number of one of the people my brother works with. Oh wait..... Ogami said he's a suspect, but they haven't proved that yet. I study the number again, debating whether I should just end it and throw the paper away, but decide against is considering anybody who works for my brother can't be a bad guy. Then again, Hitomi did say things have changed since I last remembered the code breakers..... Did he mean he's changed to? For now I think I'll keep on my toes in his presents. Wait, did he say he was coming over tonight? I stop by the lockers and bang my forehead against it in frustration. Is that why he gave me his number. During class, I've decided to call and cancel the meet. The entire rest of the day, I run through ways to do it. During Mrs. Kanda's class, I tend to space out without by accident until eventually; Kanda catches me at the end of class before lunch. "Olive, are you ok? You seemed a little off during class today." Then she comes closer. "Did your brother find you?" I shake my head. "It's not about my brother." I sigh. She to lets out a sigh. For a few seconds nobody speaks cause in all honesty, I don't know what to say or how to put in words what I'm thinking. "Is this about your memories?" I close my eyes, wondering how I could build from this conversation and get away from what I was really thinking about. "Yeah. I got another with Prince the other day. It's just so frustrating to know you're going to get your memories back, but can't wait cause you don't know how long to." I sink into the closest chair in defeat, wondering why I agreed to go into this conversation. It's just another problem I forgot about. Lunch goes by in a flash. Weird since I decide to eat alone today. That is one big mistake, cause me and too much thinking leads to a mountain of problems for myself. The rest of school passes like flying colors and soon enough, I'm making an excuse to have them wait a second longer while I go to the bathroom. Or so they think. I wipe out my phone and dial Keane's number. He picks up on the first ring. "Yellow?" he answers. "That's weird way to answer your phone." I comment. I hear a chuckle on the other end. "True. But it also makes me sound like a very laid back person, making me easier to talk to." I don't miss a beat. "You have a weird theory my friend. Maybe that's why you're missing so many rocks." I bring back the earlier conversation. "Which reminds me." He starts. "So tonight alright?" I waver at my thoughts before of turning him down, but..... Heck, what could it hurt? "Sure why not? Can't leave a person in need hanging. So, 6:00 ok with you?" "Sure thing." I tell him I have friends waiting for me outside, so the call ends there. I check my watch to find its 2:40. Man, I spent ten minutes on the phone. I walk out, assuming my group already left, but they surprise me by still being there. "What took you so long? I'm starving." Wines Toki the that way only he can. "Got caught up talking to a teacher on the way out." The lie feels like poison coming out of my mouth. The three seem to buy it though. I guess that's something they think I'd do. The way home isn't as silent as usual. Toki and Ogami have a recruiting mission tonight, where this character named Yuki comes into play. "You were his favorite. I bet after four years he'd like to see you again." I doubt that. Toki speaks up with, "That may be true, but I bet you just want her to go cause you know he'll listen to her." Ogami wastes no time in reveling a cunning comeback and the two are bickering again. "Don't those two ever give it a rest?" I ask Sakura, who's been more silent than me for the entire walk. Smiling, she turns her head to me with puppy in her arms. Aww, she's had more of puppy then I've had and I'm the one Ogami gave her to. Sad. Just then puppy jumps into my arms and I cuddle her close, wondering if she can read minds. Sakura doesn't mind, but answers to my later question. "You can say that again. Hey, do you think Ogami will ever loosen up to me like he is with you?" curiosity laces my features. OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH. "Does Sakura have a crush?" I inquire. She slaps my arm and in a heartbeat says, "Of course not!" I don't believe that for a second. "Oh Sakura. I'd believe you, but I've known you for too long." She didn't have her lying face on, I guess I'll just tease her. "Olive!" We have our own little bickering conversation going on while Toki and Ogami realize we fell behind. They come back and drag us along, nagging about out sluggish pace. We drop Sakura off, again lying by saying I have to go to the market and Toki and Ogami will come and pick us up later. That wasn't the truth at all. I return puppy to Sakura, kissing her on the nose after she gives me a little bark. "I'll be back puppy." Ugh, it's like she can sense the lie and gives me the puppy look for do you think I'm stupid? I pat her on the head. Convinced it's only my guilty conscious. Ogami ends up leading the way, arguing with Toki. I decide to stay out of it, instead watching my surroundings. We end up grabbing a taxi and let me tell you, being in a man sandwich for a good half hour isn't good. Especially with Toki next to you. I'll admit, being next to Ogami wasn't bad at all. In fact if anything, it helped me get through the ride. Once the ride ended, we step out only to walk a little ways more. We bicker about the location. Eventually, we rest at a café. I can't believe these two set out on a recruiter mission without having the slightest idea where the recruit is. Once in, I see a very familiar head of red locks at the Neon Maru claw machine. I don't know how I know this person, but he can only be described as Yuki. "Yuki." I whisper, again just having that feeling that he heard me. "Neon Maru?" He turns to me before jumping me. I embrace the hug, having no intention of letting go. Why do I have these feelings? These are stronger than the others. As the hug carries on right in the middle of the café, which I'll admit looks pretty weird, but non the less, I don't care since I'll never see then again anyway, I have a very scary familiar black out before images of Yuki and I appear, It's a mission. Then I see him carrying me on his back as we rush to see the next episode of Neon Maru. He calls me Neon Maru! I remember! My grip tightens around Yuki, remembering how close we once were four years ago. Remembering the good missions we shared and how much more fun he made every mission be. He made me feel proud of who I was. For once, my eyes feast upon a never before seen sight...... A frustrated Toki. He slices his hand through the middle of Yuki and I, trying to break the hug. But even though my grip failed under his, Yuki still has a firm hold around my waist. "Go away Toki, you've had more time with Neon Maru then I have." He sounds so mellow, yet..... so in control. Toki backs up and the old Yuki face is back. "Do you remember me Neon Maru?" He questions, looking down at my excited face. "Heck yeah I do! How could I forget? Neon Maru buddies for life right?" I hold up my hand, waiting for his fist bump. He lets me go and finishes the hand shake. Ogami, Toki, Yuki and I sit at one of the booth tables to discuss the mission. "I don't feel like it." Yuki sighs, reminding me just how much of a free spirit he is. "You won't make me do it, will you Neon Maru?" He gives me the puppy dog face, but before I can look away, it's to late.
