Chapter 11 (Silver POV)
Two weeks later everything was back to normal, well kind of. Silver and Torrie had some walls up that weren’t there before but she had stopped sleeping in friends’ dorms. They definitely weren’t as close ass they were before.
Things with Damon were worse. The more she forgave Torrie, the more suspicious she became that what Torrie aid wasn’t all lies. Damien was wary too, he liked Damon less than he liked Torrie even after her stunt at homecoming. She’d asked Damon about some of the stuff that Torrie had said and he’d always say “Don’t you trust me?” Silver would always reply “Yes” but her trust deteriorated with every ‘Don’t you trust me?’ And, to top it all off, she couldn’t get that moment with Maika out of her mind. That single moment were the earth stood still, at least for her it did, but she was pretty sure it stopped for him too.
“Tor, I think I’m starting to believe you.” Silver admitted.
“Finally, night Silver.” “Night Tor.” Silver drifted off into an uncomfortable sleep.
“Go ahead, I wanna get that guys’ number.” Silver said.
“Ohhhhh yea he’s cute!” Beth wagged her eyebrows.
“Hell-o boyfriend here” Xavier laughed.
“You know I only want you Xav.” Beth kissed his nose.
“Come on lets let our girl get that boys’ number.” She pulled Xavier away. Silver went to cross the street and then heard the gunshots, as she knew she would.
“NO!” Silver sprinted back across the street.
“Beth, say something!” she screamed. Beth said nothing, just stared at the sky with cold lifeless eyes.
“Xav!” she checked Xavier, but his eyes held no warmth. The man in the hoodie appeared.
“Your fault” he smiled evilly and pulled the trigger.
Silver screamed.
Suddenly she was back in her room, and Torrie was grumbling at being woken up.
“My fault” she whispered.
“My fault.” She repeated as the tears fell.
‘Damien’ she thought, but she was shaking too badly to work her phone. She grabbed his key, they’d swapped on the first day, pulled a sweatshirt on, and slipped out of her room, shaking and crying. It was harder than usual to make it up to room 407. Silver put the key in twisted it and the dorm opened.
“Dam” she choked.
“Damien” Silver heard a rustling sound in one of the beds.
“He’s not here.” Maika’s groggy voice said. Silver stood there for a second then sunk to the floor sobbing and muttering ‘my fault’.
“Hey, don’t cry.” Maika said softly, then got up and walked over to her.
“You can talk to me.” He extended a hand to help her up. She made no attempt to wipe away the tears, but grabbed his hand. Maika gently pulled her off the floor and lead her to the edge of his bed. He, tentative at first, put an arm around her shoulders.
“What happened?”
“I… have these dreams…” Silver paused to wipe away the tears.
“About when Beth and Xav died. I was there. If I hadn’t gone across the street to get a guys number, I would be dead. In the dream I see the guy, almost get to him, and hear gunshots. I run to Beth and see her cold, lifeless eyes. My best friend, killed before my eyes again and again. Then I look at Xavier, he’s always the same. My hands… my hands are always covered with blood. Then a man comes. He always wears a black hoodie, with the hood covering all of his face but the tip of his nose and his mouth. He smiled… then shoots me. This time was different, he said…” She choked up and tears fell again. “Your… fault” Silver collapsed into sobs, soaking Maika’s shirt.
