Chapter 26

ok this is for commenting on every (and yes i do mean EVERY) single chapter in my story!!

Chapter 26 (Silver POV)

Silver backed up against the tree. Maika… err the wolf’s eyes glowed yellow, like a cold, dark-hearted sun. It growled, a little spittle dripping from the corner of its predatory mouth, and then it threw back its head, and let out a terrifying howl. Animals ran, birds flew away, even the trees seemed to lean away from the wolf; Silver gasped in fright. At that soft sound, the wolf’s eyes locked on Silver, making her blood run cold.

‘Oh my god’ she thought, ‘Maika, no, the wolf is gunna kill me.’ She should have left. She should have listened. But she didn’t listen and leave, and here she was, in front of a bloodthirsty wolf, waiting for death to claim her.

The wolf growled again and paced forward, towards her. Silver tried to step back and was stopped by the rough bark of a tree. The wolf had black fur, well maybe dark brown, and the exact colors of Maika’s hair. It moved gracefully as it continued to advance on her, paws barely making a sound on the leaves of the forest floor. Silver’s heart raced and her breath came quick.

The wolf was mere feet away from her now, in perfect striking distance. Silver hoped it would all be over with fast, and maybe she wouldn’t feel any pain. The wolf stared at her, with its big yellow eyes, seeming to eye her up, just like a hunter to its prey. She could sense a little bit of Maika beneath the yellow depths, the Maika she loved.

 Silver took a ragged breath and waited the wolf’s reaction. It lifted it paw to take the step that would end her life.

‘Good bye Maika,’ Silver thought. The wolf’s eyes slipped shut as it took that step, and then began to rub its head against her thigh. Silver looked at it in surprise. Wasn’t this supposed to be an evil killing machine? And here it was, rubbing her leg like a trained golden retriever.

She reached out a trembling hand and lightly touched its head. The wolf leaned into her hand, like it wanted her to pet it.

‘It’s not going to hurt me’ Silver realized.

“You could never hurt me Maika Suliken” she whispered and scratched the wolf behind its ear.  The wolf gave her a doggy smile and rubbed against her leg again. Silver ran her fingers through its coat. It wasn’t coarse, or dirty; it was actually soft and smooth, definitely not what she expected. Then again, none of this was what she expected.

“Come on Stud, let’s go” Silver said and started up the path to Woodward. Maika padded along dutifully by her side, glancing up at her every couple seconds.

‘Hm, I wonder…’ Silver thought and picked up a stick.

“Maika… fetch!” she threw the stick. Maika, well the wolf, ran after it. Seconds later he trotted back, proudly displaying the stick in his mouth. Silver burst out laughing; she could play fetch with her boyfriend.

“Drop it” she commanded, “We’ve gotta get back.” The wolf whined in protest, but followed her as she continued to the school. He plotted behind her until they broke the trees and were on campus. Maika whined and nuzzled her leg.

“Yes Stud, I do have to go” she kissed the top of the wolf’s head.

“Goodnight Maika, I love you” Silver patted the wolf one last time, and then walked up to her dorm room alone.

so by popular demand... the end to the cliffhanger!!! now are you guys happy? ok i have no idea how or why this is bolded and i cant figure out how to undo it so we're gunna roll with it! picture of damien on the side and hm, im in the process of chapter 32 right now and ill try to get up to 31 up soon! ok thanks so much for reanding. this is all really crazy to me because like a week ago no one had read the story or commented, now i've got fans and people commenting and people putting this in their libraries!
