Chapter 30

(Maika POV)

‘Oh god’ Maika thought and staggered back a couple steps. ‘I lost her, it’s my fault.’

“Are you ok?” Damien asked.

“Um… yea, gotta go bye” he said and bolted out of the room.

“Gotta find her gotta find her gotta find her” Maika mumbled to himself as he paced outside of the dorm building. How do you find someone that was kidnapped by paranormal extremists? You can’t just call the police and say some agency stole your girlfriend because they think she’s a werewolf. They’d laugh their asses off. ‘Wait what if…’ Maika wondered.

He sprinted back to his room. Damien, thankfully, was gone. He found a sweatshirt that Silver had worn last week. “Please let this work” he pleaded. Maika inhaled the scent of the fabric. Finally he picked up on a one that wasn’t nature or his closet. It had to be Silver. Maika ran down to his Mercedes. ‘Silver’ he concentraited on her scent.

Suddenly the wolf’s senses took over. He could pick out the way she went, by following the sent. Maika gunned his car out of the lot and down the road. His speed climbed sixty… seventy… eighty… ninety. He didn’t care. The wolf’s senses were locked on Silver’s scent. She better be alright. She had to be. Maika had no idea what he’d do if he lost her.

Thankfully it wasn’t a long drive. By the time Maika got there his hands were cramped from gripping the steering wheel so tightly. He was lucky werewolves had extra senses that helped him avoid at least five crashes. He whipped the Mercedes into a parking space. It took every ounce of him not to jump out of the car, scream her name, and take down anyone who dared to get in his way. Maika gripped the steering wheel harder and took a deep breath, trying to suppress the wolf.

“Calm it down” Maika said to himself, then chuckled. Silver had shown him a video, something about a pushup bra and getting her man back, awhile ago. That brought the wolf down. He sighed, stepped out of the car, and put on his black sunglasses.

“Now, how to get in.” Maika walked around the perimeter of the building. Finally he came upon a fire escape ladder that ran up the side of the building. “Silver, you better be ok” he said before scaling the ladder.

Once on the roof, he looked for an entrance. ‘Ah, how convient, a trap door, now if only a staircase led right into Silver’s cell…’ he thought. He ripped the hatch open, only to reveal an air duct.

“Bond, James Bond” Maika said nervously in his best 007 impression before quietly lowering himself into the aluminum tunnel. ‘Well, never thought I’d break INTO the P.E.A. headquarters’ he thought as he crawled silently through the tunnel. He needed to figure out where he was and fast, like before the air duct broke and he was dropped in the middle of a group of people who wanted to kill him. That would not be very James Bond.

A small light came into view. Maika scrambled towards it, as quietly as possible. Through the vent he saw a bunch of spellcasters chained to a wall. They all had the distinctive pattern of stars across their cheek. Maika bowed his head in respect for a moment before contenting his search for his beloved Silver.

‘Wait if this is the prison…’ he thought. Maika looked from vent to vent until he saw a homeless man. The man’s head snapped up.

“Wolf” he said. Maika gulped. “You’re up there I’m not dumb” the homeless man looked straight at him through the vent.

“Ok, you got me, I’m up here” Maika whispered.

“Are you escaping?” he asked, red eyes pleading.
