Chapter 19 (Silver POV)

The next morning she couldn’t eat, couldn’t even get up to go to school, she could barely move she was so consumed by cloud of misery that enveloped her. Silver couldn’t deal with seeing Maika hurt, espicaly because she caused it. Her blackberry Torch vibrated, and it took way more effort than healthy to retrive it from the nightstand.

“U sick?” Damien’s text blinked in her face.

“Yea” she typed back, not wanting to deal with anyone, even her best friend.

“Oh :( ill bring u some soup at lunch, feel better s” his reply came fast, as always.

Suddenly the image of Maika’s dilated eyes and sharpened teeth flashed across her mind. She shuddered and curled into a ball in her bed.

“A werewolf. My boyfriend is a god damn werewolf” she whispered to herself. And he, er, the wolf had killed his two best friends.

‘But Maika’s not evil. You know it.’ One side of her brain stated.

‘Even if he’s not it’s a side of him.’

Silver groaned and grabbed fro her laptop. She flicked it on only to see a picture of Maika holding a paint brush towards the camera and smirking, god she loved that smirk.

A tear fell from her eyes, one that she’d been holding back since she told him that she couldn’t be with him. Once that dam was broken, the tears couldn’t be stopped, tears cascaded from her eyes rolling down her cheeks and falling to the laptop keys below. She missed him, and probably still loved him.

‘No, I need a distraction’ Silver thought, and quickly pulled up the internet. It opened to her facebook page, which acme up as in a relationship with Maika Suliken.

“Why was I so dumb!” she yelled to her room.

“Why’d I let the best thing that happened to me go?” Silver cried, tears falling like a rainstorm and pain in her voice. Every time her heart beat it seemed to say one name, Maika… Maika… Maika…

(Maika POV)

This hurt. This hurt really bad. Maika felt like his heart was ripped out of his chest and now it was just a hollow hole. A hollow hole where Silver once was.

“You getting up Maika?” Damien asked. He kept his face in his pillow and shook his head.

“Ok I’ll tell Silver that you’re sick” he said before leaving.

Silver.

Even the name hurt to hear. Maika groaned into his pillow. There was no way he could go to school today, see her face, her smile, and hear her laugh. That pain would almost be comparable to the pain of knowing you killed your best friend, almost. Finally he flicked his ipod on.

“without you there's no reason for my story and when i'm with you i can always act the same forever, yeah if we're together we can make it better you and i, we've never felt so right that just might be just what i need to get me through the night) you and i, we're the perfect fit you've got me hooked so that i can never quit i just burn away” Anarbor blasted through the speakers, almost mocking him.

It seemed like without Silver there was no reason for his story. Maika couldn’t take it anymore, he finally took enough Tylenol to make him sleep, at least for a couple hours.

(Silver POV)

Tuesday she couldn’t get out of bed, or Wednesday, or Thursday. Finally on Friday afternoon Damien broke into her room.

“Silver Kamrada! What the hell are you doing to yourself?” he asked, looking at her with worry.

She looked away miserably.

“When was the last time you ate?” Damien raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms.

“Um when’s the last time you brought me something?” she mumbled.

“Wednesday night.”

“Then it was Wednesday night” she said quietly.

“W-Wednesday” he stammered.

“I’m not hungry” she added weakly.

“Silver, this is un-salubrious. You need to get out of here! You haven’t left this room since Sunday.” Damien threw dark skinny jeans, a thermal shirt, and a purple p-coat on the foot of her bed.

“Get changed. We’re going to a party.” Damien commanded, pointing to the clothes.

“But…”

“No buts. You obviously can’t take care of yourself so I’m taking over your life.” He pointed again.

“Fine” Silver groaned.

“But first you’re eating.” Silver groaned again.

When Damien deemed her ready, after two bowls of soup and some sweet and sour chicken, they headed down to the woods party.

“Damien, can’t I just go back?” she complained.

“No, it’s good for you to be social. Oh, I’ve got someone I want you to meet, stay here.” Damien took off, leaving Silver alone. Across the party she saw Maika. Their eyes met for a moment. Regret and sadness welled up in her. Silver just wanted to cry. She’d let the best boy she ever had slip through her fingers, even if he was a werewolf. Maika looked away; Silver could see the pain in his eyes as he took a sip from the beer bottle in his hand. Maika never drank.

‘I must have messed him up bad.’ She thought guiltily.

“Hey Silver! What’s up? Were you, like, sick or something?” an old aquatince, Jenna, asked.

“Yea, you could say so” Silver replied tiredly.

“Boy troubles?” Jenna asked.

“Like you wouldn’t believe.” Silver smiled weakly.

“Are you and, ah, what’s-his-name still together?” Jenna questioned.

“His name is Maika and I don’t know.” She was starting to get irritated now.

“Well, if you aren’t together, you wouldn’t mind if I move in on him right? He is pretty hot.” Jenna smirked. White hot jealousy flashed through Silver. The thought of maika with another girl made her sick.

“Don’t even think about it” Silver growled.

“Oh, I see how it is bitch, play him for a while until you get bored, classy.” Jenna sneered.

“I happen to be in love with Maika.” Silver retorted.

“Yea, love, ok. I’m sure he doesn’t love you back” she taunted.

“I know he does!” Silver was close to tears.

“Then why aren’t you together?” Jenna asked.

“Because I was stupid, and I didn’t realize what I had until it was gone” she whispered, more to herself than Jenna. “So stupid”

“That’s right, you were stupid.” Jenna smiled malevolently, “Now watch me steal your boyfriend.” Jenna strutted across the party, tapped Maika on the shoulder, and kissed him.

A pathetic sob escaped Silver’s lips as she turned, ran, and didn’t stop until she got to the bridge. She sat down on the edge, looking at the river. Suddenly her phone vibrated.

“I’m sorry she like attacked me” a text from Stud read.

“I know” she replied. Silver really didn’t want to be there so she picked herself up and started up the path to the dorms.
