Summary:  College dances were horrible... most of the time.

-----

College dances were marks of social awareness. This wasn't because your social status depended on your ability to dance, it was because if you didn't know when and how to go, you obviously knew nothing about college life. For instance, no one went to dances, which started at 10 pm, until midnight or later. The fact that the dances only lasted until 2 was irrelevant as to when you went. It was just the fact that, if you showed up early, you looked like an idiot and could only stand awkwardly as you observed freshman and the small group of break dancers who only came for the rockin' beats.

Another important point was that there were only a few dances which everyone actually went to, the others all hit or miss depending on what the campus felt like for the weekend. However, as a rule, the welcome back dance was one that almost everyone went to.

Observing the throbbing mass on the dance floor, Daniel remembered why he had refused to go to another of these damn things after the initial disaster back in Freshman year. Scowling, he turned to look at Jungsik, standing next to him and looking much too enthusiastic for Daniel's tastes. Or perhaps it wasn't so much enthusiasm as the five shots he had taken earlier.

That might make more sense.

Honestly, it was less of a dance that more of a practice of collegiate mating rituals. Some of the things those girls were doing were definitely not publicly appropriate. In fact, even the music shouldn't be considered publicly decent. How the current music artists were able to get away with singing about orgies still managed to boggle his mind.

This was not how Daniel wanted to start his senior and final year at school.

"Oh come on," Jungsik said, turning to him and smacking him on the shoulder, presumably for the face he was making. "One school dance won't kill you."

Daniel begged to differ. The freshman year welcome dance would make a great example. There was a reason he never talked about why he didn't go to dances, letting others believe he was simply a stick in the mud.

"Remind me to disembowel you once you're sober," Daniel said, having to raise his voice over the music. He could almost feel his bones vibrating with the strength of the bass pounding from the speakers.

Jungsik just grinned, slightly sloppily and shoved him in the direction of the dancing and swaying mass. "It ends at two," Jungsik said, still attempting to act patronizing as he slurred his syllables. "Just find something pretty to amuse yourself with and try to take that stick out of your ass."

Daniel wanted very much to say something along the lines of 'Go fuck yourself with a broom' but lost his chance as Jungsik was suddenly wrenched away from him by an all too familiar face.

For a moment, Daniel considered being thankful for the liquor Jungsik and Mithra had shoved into his hands and down his throat earlier which was currently circulating his system enthusiastically. Then the reality of who was in front of him hit, and he realized that he was going to kill his two best friends.

"Tablo! What the fuck are you doing here? Alive?"

Heechul was fine when he wasn't pulling pranks, but when he was drunk and, more importantly, when Daniel was drunk, the lithe boy was like fingernails on a chalkboard. Well, for Daniel at least.

"Observing the human practice of bad decision making," Daniel responded, once again having to raise his voice over the loud music. He kept getting buffeted by the dancing people around him, making his already compromised balance even more questionable.

"Oh my God, you've been abducted!" Heechul yells, suddenly lurching forward and grabbing Daniel by the shoulders. "Holy Shit, I'm getting Donghae!"

And before Daniel can stop him, or even wonder who the hell Donghae is, Heechul has disappeared, thrown himself into the seething mass of bodies in search of this Donghae kid. For a moment, Daniel thinks that he was abducted and snorts lightly at the mental image of Jungsik as an extraterrestrial.

Of course he's interrupted from his thoughts when someone shoves into him roughly. Turning and rubbing his shoulder, a scowl on his face, Daniel comes face to face with what can only be defined as a drunken jock, looking at him with heavy set brows. "Dude, you gonna stand there or dance?" the other says, his voice booming. The girl currently pressing herself into his chest seems completely oblivious to his lack of attention as she sways her body in synchronization to the pounding bass of the speakers. The jock notices Daniel's flickering gaze and grins lewdly, jerking his chin as if such an action further intensified his masculinity.

Daniel figured it would be best for him to disappear, and, considering he was presented with a seething crowd of people, the success of such a desire was extremely high. Not bothering to look at the jock a second time, he immediately attempted to push himself into the center of the floor, clumsily maneuvering himself through the writhing bodies.

Almost immediately Daniel remembered why he never danced. It wasn't that he didn't want to, or that he found it below him, it was that dancing for him came as easily as flying did to a turtle. Typically, the only time that he ever attempted to dance was either when fooling around with friends or if he was extremely drunk. And he had the extremely strong suspicion that, though whatever was sloshing through his system at the moment was significant, it wasn't nearly enough to have him attempting to move to the music. Especially since the current song was nothing more than bad rappers attempting to talk in time with an irregular beat.

Of course, now that he had managed to successfully lose himself in the crowd of bodies, Daniel had no idea what to do. Dancing was out of the question, considering doing so would most likely result in multiple injuries, and he really didn't want to find Jungsik again, considering that by now his supposed friend probably already had found a girl and was well into a night of indecency.

A sudden hand on his shoulder had him spinning around in shock to look at a slightly apologetic, but kind face. "Um, do you want to dance?" Daniel had no idea who the girl was. Hell, he barely knew anyone on the damn campus anymore, considering the majority of his friends had already graduated. This girl was no different from the majority of the population on campus. Strange faces and unknown stares.

Still, she looked harmless.

"Aah, I'm not very good," Daniel found himself responding, feeling awkward already at the prospect of moving to music properly. Too late he realized his tone could be interpreted as shy embarrassment rather than a polite decline as the girl smiled and moved closer.

Shit thought Daniel as she attempted to sidle directly into his personal space, her once shy look shifting dramatically into something dark and nearly predatory. She smiled. "Don't worry, I can show you," she said, managing to make her voice soft despite having to nearly yell to be heard over the music. "Just follow me." The next moment she was swaying and, with light touches, directing where his body should move and follow and, despite himself, Daniel found himself following the guidance.

Perhaps he'd had more alcohol than he initially thought, especially if it was making the bad decision to attempt to dance seem perfectly reasonable. Then again, alcohol was good for nothing if not encouraging bad decisions. Daniel felt like he was imagining it when the girl smiled at him under dark lashes as she shifted closer, pressing herself to him gently as the music changed to a more intense beat. Truthfully, he was concentrating too hard on attempting to follow what she was doing to pay much attention to her advances, let alone make any of his own.

It was hot. Extremely hot, bodies pressed against each other only intensifying the humid atmosphere and causing shirts and hair to stick to sweat slicked skin. Breaths were heavy and some shuddering as they passed between lips, eyes open and closed regardless of the darkness of the room. The music continued to pound, to throb in synch with the bodies all pressed against each other in one continuous flow of movement. One body moved, another responded, one called, another answered, one pushed, another pulled. With varying amounts of alcohol traveling through blood and into the brain, it became easy for one to let their mind slip, to drift into the hypnotic flow of nothing, letting their body work as all thought drifted into silent murmurs in the deep recesses of the mind.

Daniel didn't know when he'd let his eyes fall closed, when he'd stopped paying attention to what the girl was doing so intently, or when the girl had turned around, pressed herself into his chest and begun guiding his body with hers, gently holding his hands on her hips. All he knew was when he opened his eyes, his already numbed mind was wiped completely blank at the image in front of him. Up by the DJ tables, which were on raised steps overlooking the main dance floor, a few students had gathered, utilizing the more open area to move more freely.

And one of them was possibly the most captivating thing Daniel had ever seen in his life. It was like a car accident you couldn't look away from, but rather than being absorbed by the tragedy, Daniel was completely entranced by the perfect flow from one movement to the next, the way muscles tightened and loosed and the way the dancer seemed completely lost in what he was doing. It was beautiful, it was hypnotic, and damn if it wasn't erotic as hell.

He'd stopped paying attention to the girl, barely noticed his body continuing to follow her movement as he watched the way another body arched and snapped. Daniel could almost feel his breath stop when he saw the other exhale, his head snapping to the side as his chest thrust out dramatically. It wasn't until he felt fingers squeeze his wrists that he realized the girl had noticed, and was looking between him and the dancer, a knowing smile on her slightly disappointed face.

"He's good isn't he," she commented, turning around, managing to keep Daniel's hands on her hips as she did so and leaning up into him. Daniel felt himself start slightly as she leaned directly into him, her mouth reaching up to brush against his ear as she continued to guide his body's unconscious motions, hands now resting lightly on his hips. "Watching him makes everyone here look like fools, the way his body is practically made for the thrust and pulse of dancing." Her hot breath cascading over the heated skin of his neck, Daniel felt his breath hitching as his eyes drifted up again to the dancer, who seemed to be lost entirely in his own world.

And suddenly, just as the girl shifted once more, her developed chest pressing against Daniel's own, the dancer opened his eyes, and Daniel felt everything collapse around him into a static buzzing as their gazes locked. Time seemed to stop and speed up at the same moment, his body continuing to move, the girl now pressed flush against him as the dancer's body flowed and twisted, but their gazes held, and in that split second Daniel forgot what was real.

And then, though the moment had seemed like an eternity to Daniel, the dancer looked away, mouth open slightly and everything came crashing back in a blast of sound and activity. He felt the girl's hand run up his side as she drew back slightly, her face flushed in the heat as she looked at him. "His name's Eunhyuk," she said, mouth quirking. "And trust me, you're not the only one watching."

Daniel opened his mouth, prepared to correct her that, no, he wasn't watching anyone, when he froze, eyes snapping back up in time to see the dancer, Eunhyuk, twist deftly and he realized that no amount of denial could make the truth false. The girl smiled. "Dance," she commanded, and Daniel, now lost in the sway of damp red hair and toned muscles, obeyed without question.

It wasn't until the song ended that Daniel realized that the girl was pulling away, a small slightly devious smile on her face as she looked up at him. He stood stunned as she leaned up, lips once more brushing against the shell of his ear as she said "Thanks for the dance" before gently pressing a kiss to the side of his face and vanishing into the crowd.

Daniel stood, suddenly feeling extremely lost, amid the crowd of students, still moving with the music and the previous almost overwhelming heat seemed to have vanished. Looking back towards the DJ table, it appeared the mesmerizing dancer seemed to have also vanished as well and, surprising himself slightly, Daniel found himself disappointed. He looked around, attempting to find gravity, when something barreled into him.

Fortunately, he didn't slam into anyone behind him, causing a fight. Unfortunately, upon looking down, he recognized the brown tousled hair of one of his more.... interesting... writing students. The thought process of "Ah, now I remember why Donghae sounded familiar " drifted through his mind upon finding the familiar features and wide excited eyes looking up at him from around his abdomen. Then the small red mouth opened and a voice at decables he never could have fathomed began damaging his ear drums.

"OH MY GOD, HYUNG! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE ABDUCTED!" Apparently someone had thought it a good idea to provide Donghae with alcohol this evening. Judgement like that should never be impaired. "HOLY SHIT CAN I ANALYZE YOU? THIS IS AMAZING!" And, to Daniel's horror, Donghae began frantically attempting to examine him, hands running enthusiastically (and almost inappropriately) too fast to track and it took Daniel's fogged mind a moment to react.

Which it did, spectacularly.

"YAH! DONGHAE! HANDS DO NOT GO THERE!" was something he didn not expect to come from his mouth but which managed to anyway as he desperately attempted to catch Donghae's overzealous pursuit of finding extraterrestrial remnants on his body. It was already a losing battle and Daniel was in full denial of that fact.

Next thing he knew, Donghae had pushed up his shirt and, with one hand pushing Daniel's face back, thereby completely unbalancing him and preventing him from properly functioning as he attempting to breathe, and the other avidly pushing and pulling Daniel's now completely exposed torso for observation.

"SURE THEY DO!" Donghae hollered from somewhere around his right hip. "HAVEN'T YOU EVER TAKEN A PROPER SHOWER!?" Oh dear god. Daniel was attempting, very very hard, to try to simultaneously push Donghae away, remove the hand from his face, pull down his shirt, and not fall over. He was also failing at all four of these and was painfully aware of the fact that, with one more movement, he would lose to gravity and, the way things were progressing, the subsequent fall would not only land him on the floor, but land Donghae and quite a few others there. And he would still have his shirt located somewhere under his chin.

Then, just as he felt the sudden wrench to the right, causing the fateful fall that would not only ruin his near non-existent reputation, but also possibly the proper function of his pelvis, Daniel felt two strong hands suddenly grasp him around the waist and steady him, pulling him properly to his feet and to rest securely against a very warm and flat chest.

"Oi! Donghae! What the Hell are you doing!" a clear baritone voice shouted from behind Daniel, the words vibrating through his back and sending a slight shiver up his skin, breathing already accelerated from fending off Donghae.

"HE'S BEEN ABDUCTED!" Donghae shouted, still frantically examining Daniel. However, on glancing up to see who was now supporting his specimen, Donghae's face broke into an even more excited grin, if that was even possible.

"HYUKKIE!" Donghae positively bellowed, launching himself at the unknown rescuer, apparently forgetting Daniel's presence as he hugged the other, thereby squishing Daniel between the two boys chests in what had to be the most uncomfortable hug in the history of the phrase 'no-homo.' Drawing back slightly, Donghae, face inches from Daniel's, looked happily at the person still holding Daniel steady. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL NIGHT! I LOST YOU!"

Daniel had never felt this awkward before in his life. And that included the entire duration of his freshman year as a small awkward boy with acne and big glasses. "Um," Daniel started, attempting to turn and maneuver from the embraces of Donghae and his faceless rescuer. "If you don't mind, could you pl...."

He froze.

It was him.

The dancer.

With his red hair, light skin, and eyes that once again reduced the entire world to static nothing. Somewhere, in the vague recesses of his mind Daniel's mind connected the fact that his hips were now pressed against the same set of hips which had made that particularly complex motion and the hands which could dance by themselves and still be breathtaking. The rest of his mind seemed to have been reduced to the simple repetition of the words "fuck" and "oh my god" with varying mixing such as "oh my fuck god" and "fuck my oh god."

"-AND THEN HEECHUL COMES UP AND TELLS ME DANIEL, THE TUTOR GUY WHO I NEVER LISTEN TO FOR MY ESSAYS, HAS BEEN ABDUCTED AND HOLY SHIT HYUKKIE I ALMOST BROKE SUNGMIN'S NOSE!-"

Donghae's enthusiastic relay of the nights events continued to wash over him as Daniel remained frozen in the increasingly uncomfortable, but unnoticed, embrace of the two boys, his mind still frozen somewhere around "pelvic thrust".

"So you decided to hunt him down and strip him in the middle of the atrium?!" the dancer, Eunhyuk his brain numbly supplied, asked Donghae as Daniel realized the red-haired living-fantasy had looked away from him and he was probably staring.

"I WASN'T STRIPPING HIM!" Donghae defended, suddenly grabbing Daniel and ripping his shirt back up to his nose, which had just finally begun to fall back down to cover him in some form of decency, almost hauling the garment over his head entirely. "I WAS CONDUCTING A THOROUGH EXAMINATION FOR EXTRATERRESTRIAL EXPERIMENTATION AND PROBING!"

"EXPERIMENTATION AND WHAT!" Daniel suddenly screeched, the word 'probing' managing to stab through his muddled brain and setting off the appropriate warning signals. Frantically, he managed to wrench himself from Donghae's eager hands and attempt to pull his shirt down again, backing up hastily and, unintentionally, pushing himself further into Eunhyuk in an effort to put space between himself and the overzealous alien-enthusiast. His now almost panicked breathing was not helped as Eunhyuk's hands grabbed him, somewhere around the waist, and pulled him back steadily.

"OH MY GOD! I NEVER GOT TO CHECK!" Donghae yelled, apparently devastated by this revelation as he attempted to launch himself at Daniel's pants. The bubble of panic that rocketed up into Daniel's throat as he let out an extremely startled and objective cry was cut short as Eunhyuk jerked him against himself and pulled them directly out of the path of the discovery obsessed brunette, strong hands firmly keeping Daniel balanced and away from losing his pants and dignity.

However, a moment later, Eunhyuk had stepped forward, creating a small sort of barrier between Daniel and Donghae as he attempted to speak some reason into the excitable boy. "Donghae, do you really think right now is the best place to properly examine Tablo-ssi's exposure to extraterrestrials?" To say that Daniel was impressed with Eunhyuk's ability to talk so rationally to his obviously overly intoxicated friend was an understatement. How Eunhyuk appeared to be sober at one of these school dances was nothing short of a miracle, considering that, to the best of his knowledge, they were only tolerably under the influence of at least three shots of varying percentages of alcohol.

Donghae seemed to contemplate the logic of Eunhyuk's words for a moment before, to Daniel's extremely surprise and relief, he nodded and grinned. "You're right Hyukkie," he said with more confidence than should be acceptable. "I don't have proper lighting here after all. I'll just have to check you for alien involvement later Mr. Writing tutor Daniel who always has messy hair."

It took Daniel a moment to realize Donghae was talking to him, his attention too much focused on trying to figure out why his arm wasn't properly in it's sleeve. Apparently Donghae had been more vigorous than he originally thought. "Um, yeah, sure...." Daniel said quickly, stumbling slightly over his words as he hoped the false reassurance to let Donghae "closely analyze" him would not have to be followed through on at a later date.

"AWESOME!" Donghae whooped, punching the air and narrowly missing a particularly startled freshman. "I'm gonna go find Sungmin and see if I actually broke his nose!" And before Daniel could properly piece together what had just happened, the intoxicated overexcited boy had vanished into the crowd, leaving him and Eunhyuk.

Who still had a semi-protective hand on his waist.

Clearing his throat and feeling extremely uncomfortable, a thing which rarely happened to Daniel, he shifted slightly, trying to excuse himself before something like "you move like an extremely erotic eel" came from his mouth in an undignified fashion.

"I'm so sorry about that," Eunhyuk said, cutting off whatever Daniel had been meaning to say quickly as he turned to him and carelessly dropped his hand from Daniel's waist. He found himself missing the warmth more than he should have. "I have no idea who gave him alcohol, or who told him anything about aliens. He's usually not this- no, that's a lie, he is usually that bad. But still, sorry about that. Are you okay? My name's Eunhyuk by the way. I don't think I know you. Are you new here? I've never seen you around before. Oh holy crap, you look like a mess. Here, let me help you-"

And Daniel, who had been standing dumbly watching the other boy as he rambled on, a slightly nervous tremor in his voice, had no idea whether he was blushing out of embarrassment or stupidity as he realized he still had one of his arms caught in the sleeve of his shirt, which was currently still located somewhere above his ribcage. "Ah-no! It's fine- I- ah- sorry! You don't need to-" Daniel attempted to explain, backing away awkwardly as Eunhyuk made a motion as if to help Daniel properly dress himself. Nerves already on high and stretched, Daniel didn't know how he would react if Eunhyuk were to suddenly start rearranging his shirt. Hell, the boy's hands just steadying his balance had already given him goosebumps and before this night he'd never even considered a flat chest anything more than an indication of gender.

Eunhyuk looked slightly confused for a moment before his eyes softened and he smiled, a smile which, though containing as much gums as it did teeth, was oddly endearing. "C'mon," he said, jerking his head towards the large double doors against the walls. "It's roasting. Let's get some air and you can fix yourself and tell me about why Donghae seems to think you've been abducted by aliens."

Somewhere, in the back of Daniel's mind, he knew this might not be a good idea. Might not be the best decision to follow this boy who danced like it was water and whose voice made his stomach shift awkwardly to the left. It probably wasn't a good idea to push through the double doors, a wave of cool night air hitting their skin and turning the sweat into cold; to follow him to the stone benches and return his own soft smile at one flashed at him that was as much gum as it was teeth.

Yet Daniel did it anyway.

Next is from Eunhyuk's POV
