D A I S Y
"Sit with us." a voice came from behind Auburn and I.
We turned, the three most popular girls in the grade - maybe even
school - behind us."Not her, but you." Macy Knight reached out and grabbed my arm, eyeing Auburn with a look of disgust while pulling me towards them. Her wrist was small and few silver bracelets adorned her wrist. They hit together and created a noise every time she moved.
They smelt of strong perfume.
Macy was the leader of the trio. Her minions, Michelle Powell and Lexi Holliser, followed her around and treated her like a queen.
Macy wore a pretty pink outfit; light colored jeans, a light pink shirt with a light pink floral circle scarf. Her blonde hair was down in loose waves with some pined back. She looked beautiful.
I was beyond jealous.
"What?" I snapped out of my jealous trance.
"You heard me. Sit with us. Without.." Macy paused, looking Auburn up and down. "Her."
I turned and looked at Auburn, who was nodding as if she agreed.
"Um.. Okay." I turned back to Macy, studying her face for signs of trickery.
"Great." then the trio sauntered off. They all dressed nicely, which was the popular thing here.
"Why do you want me to sit with them so badly?" I asked Auburn as we headed to her locker so she could grab a book she left in there.
"So you can befriend them and get me all the gossip." Auburn smirked.
"Auburn!" I scolded her.
"What? It's a great plan."
I rolled my eyes.

I glanced at Auburn, who gave me a thumbs up.
I looked back at the three girls in front of me.
"I guess you've used a day." Macy says to me, spearing a tomato in her salad.
"What?"
"We only wear our hair in a pony tail once a week." Michelle says.
Wow, they really took Mean Girls seriously.
"Why?"
"It makes us look too lazy to do our hair." Lexi butted in. "So make an effort to your hair and makeup. Also never wear sweatpants."
I nodded, looking around the room, feeling odd under the many stares from other students, longing to sit where I am with the populars.
"Wait, makeup?"
"Yeah." Michelle says. "Pretty doesn't just come naturally." she laughed and rolled her eyes, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Was I even allowed to wear makeup? Ash never said I could.
But he never said I couldn't, either.
"What else?"
I wanted to fit in.
"Um, don't socialize with any nerdy people or you'll be ruined." Lexi said, flipping her blonde hair.
"How about we go shopping? Buy you new clothes." Macy looks me up and down.
"When?"
"Saturday."
So we exchanged numbers. I would ask for permission when I got home.
That is, if I can stand talking to Ashton.

I ignored Ashton's voice calling for me and continued writing the answer to a problem on my math homework. Soon he got tired of calling and came to my room.
"Didn't you hear me calling? Dinners ready." Ashton said.
I thought about the email.
"Hey. I'm talking to you."
I ignored him and kept writing, muling over the email. Was Ashton really going to throw me away like some rag doll soon?
Did he really just use me to make himself and the boys look good?
Did he really care for me?
"Daisy!"
He was yelling, causing me to jump and snap out of my thoughts.
I looked up, alarmed.
"I'm sick and tired of your attitude, missy!" he scolded, obviously really really angry. "All I am is nice to you and you repay me with ignoring me? Why? Huh? Answer!"
Michael was at the door. "Would you shut up, I'm trying to listen to something!"
"Not my fault you're being shady and lying and putting up an act."
"What?" Ashton replied. "I am not being shady. You are. All I get is lies
from you. 'Why didn't you eat?' 'Oh I'm just not hungry.'" He mocked me telling an excuse for skipping a meal."All I get from you is fake love!" I snapped back, seeming to hit a nerve.
"What are you talking about?" Ashton asked.
"The email." I was standing now, tears streaming down my face.
"What email?"
"The email you got from some guy saying how I was just a charity case, and in a month I'd be gone." I wiped my tears. "I.." My voice broke. "I thought I finally found a home. I thought I finally found a place where I could be loved. But I guess life just isn't fair."
"Daisy that's not true."
"It is true. Stop with the act. You never even cared for me. You're just waiting for that month to be up." I said. "I'm just waiting to find love." I quietly added.
"Daisy -"
"Don't." I look away. "I've had enough."
I push past him and Michael and dash out the house, not looking back.
