D A I S Y

You never know when you might be seeing someone for the last time. Make your goodbyes count.

It's been two weeks.

Two weeks since the fight, two weeks since I came home, two weeks since the crash. The tree hit Jacob's side straight on. He wasn't killed, but injured and put into a coma.

He hasn't woken up since.

I thought about all of this in the shower as I washed my hair and body. When I got out, I got dressed and let my hair towel dry.

When my hair was dry I grabbed my phone and snuck into Ashton's room. I quietly grabbed his keys, cringing when he stirred in his sleep. I hastily scribbled a note onto a sticky note, telling him I drove his car to the hospital, and set the note beside him.

I slipped out the door and went into the car and started it up. At the hospital, I signed in and went to Jacob's room. I slowly opened the door, my heart breaking at the sight of him.

I stood beside his bed and gently took his hand.

"I'm so sorry," I whispered, tears filling my eyes. "This is my fault,"

"Stop blaming yourself."

I jumped and turned around to face the door. A nurse stood there.

"I'm here to check on him," she walked over and checked his pulse.

She left without a word. Finally, since I was alone, I allowed the tears to spill. I sat down beside him and held my hands up to my face and cried.

I missed him. I missed his smile, driving with him to school, FaceTiming him, just being with him. Sure, I was here with him everyday, but he wasn't here.

I looked up at the sound of footsteps. This time it wasn't a nurse, but his parents. I had gotten lucky and had only ran into them a few times in the past two weeks.

"Why are you here?" his mom spat.

"Because I'm his girlfriend," I said, while fiddling with the ring.

"I thought you two broke up?" she walked over to him and moved his hair out of his face.

"I was just mad. I didn't mean it," I wiped my tears.

"Like how you didn't mean to put him in the hospital?"

I looked up at her, ready to strangle that woman.  I couldn't argue with her, as much as I wanted to. This was my fault.

"Fück you," I growled, standing to my feet.

I left her and her husband stunned as I walked out the room, not even bothering to look back.

When I got back home I was so mad I was crying. Luke was in the living room, the only one awake, and stopped me right as I walked into the room.

"Why are you crying?" he asked, his hands on my shoulders in an attempt to stop me.

"I don't want to talk about it," I pushed his hands off me.

Suddenly I was thrown over his shoulder, and Luke was running around the house. He suddenly dropped me onto the couch and held me down.

"Tell me what's wrong or I'll tickle you," he taunted.

"Fück off."

One of Luke's hands found my waist and started to tickle me, while his other hand held me down.

"Stop!" I shrieked, trying my best to not laugh.

"Not until you tell me what's wrong."

"Fine! Just stop!" I gasped. His hand left my waist and he let me sit up.

"I ran into Jacob's parents at the hospital," I said.

"And?"

"I may or may not have swore at his mom."

"Daisy!" he cried, letting out little laughs.

"What? She was blaming me for the crash. I mean, I know it was my fault, –" I began.

"Stop blaming yourself," Luke interrupted. "It's his fault for driving hazardously."

"He was upset. Because of me," I argued.

Luke didn't say anything.

"Go put on comfy clothes and I'll make tea," Luke said, standing from the couch.

I nodded and went upstairs. I snuck into Ashton's room and stole a plain black T shirt, then went to my room and changed into his shirt and shorts. I threw my hair into a careless bun, then went back downstairs.

Luke handed me a cup up tea and we sat on the couch and watched cartoons.

"Is there anything you want to talk about? Anything that's bothering you?" Luke asked.

I thought for a moment. "No."

"You sure?" he asked.

"I'm sure. Nothing will change if I talk about it, so why try?" I said.

He didn't say anything and turned back to watch the cartoons. We finished drinking our tea and ended up falling asleep on the couch. Luke was up against the back of the couch, while I laid beside him.

"Luke?" I said.

"Yeah?" he groggily replied, as if he  was almost asleep.

"Do you think Jacob will wake up?"

"We can only hope he does," Luke replied.

It was silent again.

"Do you think he'll take me back?" I asked. Luke knew about the breakup.

"If he truly loves you, then yes."
