My eyes slowly opened and I slowly gained sense of where I was. I looked around the bright room, assuming I'm in a hospital by the smell of hand sanitizer and by the intimating equipment around me

I saw two familiar boys standing at the end of the bed, whispering to one another.

Calum turned, his eyes widening when he realized I was awake.

"Luke!" he threw his arms around me.

I winced.

"Sorry!" he stepped back.

"Calum be gentle," Michael scolded him, but then smirked and gently hugged me also.

"What happened?" I winced again at the pain in my ribs. "My ribs are killing me."

"You saved Daisy," Calum said.

My eyes widening as flashbacks came back. I remembered seeing Daisy jump, and then jumping after her. The rest was a little fuzzy.

"The current was too strong and slammed you into a rock," Michael told me. "The doctors said your ribs are bruised."

"Is Daisy okay?" it hurt like héll to talk, or even breathe, but I didn't care. All I cared about was her.

"She's fine."

"Where's Ashton?"

"Luke, stop talking, I can tell it hurts," Michael said, gently laying his hand on my shoulder. "I'll go get the doctor."

"Ashton's with Daisy," Calum said
once Michael left.

The doctor came in and gave me pain medicine, then gave me an ice pack.

"Go back to sleep," Calum said.

"But Da –"

"She's fine," Calum assured me, then left the room without another word.

I woke up to bright lights and to the smell of hand sanitizer. I looked down, seeing a needle in my arm and bandages around my wirsts.

When I looked up, a person with familiar curly hair was sat beside me, sobbing into their hands.

"Ash?" I croaked.

He looked up.

"Daisy!" he came over and hugged me, avoiding the IV. "Please, never do that again. Oh my God."

He didn't let me go for about a minute, and just sat there hugging me and caressing my hair. I nodded and buried my face into his neck.

I suddenly pulled back, remembering Luke.

"Is he okay?" I cried.

"Who? Luke? Yeah, he's fine."

"He took the blow," I said.

Ashton nodded. "He has bruised ribs."

My jaw dropped. "I have to go see him," I fumbled with the blanket and tried to take the needle out of my arm.

"Hey," Ashton gently put his arm over me, keeping me from moving. "You can see him later. The doctor needs to come back and make sure you're okay."

I nodded and laid back, trying to calm down. Ashton sat and looked around the room.

"I'm okay with you liking Luke," Ashton blurted out.

"What?" I looked at him with shock.

"You obviously mean a lot to him, and he means a lot to you. It was wrong of me to decide who you can like," Ashton sighed. "I'm sorry."

The door creaked, causing Calum, Michael and I to look towards the front of the hospital room.

Daisy hesitantly stepped inside, Ashton following. With Ashton and I in the same room, the atmosphere instantly changed and there was a bad vibe coming off between us.

Daisy ran over and hugged me. I winced, but tried to ignore the pain and let her hug me.

"Sorry, I forgot," she pulled away, noticing my discomfort.

"Can you guys give Luke and I a moment?" she asked, turning to the boys.

They nodded, and Calum practically dragged Ashton out the hospital room.

"Luke," Daisy began, her eyes meeting mine. "I'm sorry."

"For what?" I looked at her in disbelief.

"For risking your life," she looked down, playing with her hands.

"I risked my life," I argued. "And I'd do it again if it meant saving you."

She didn't say anything, and suddenly Ashton bursted into the room.

I guess she sensed the sudden change in atmosphere and bursted into tears.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Ashton coaxed, coming over and resting a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"I'm sorry," she sniffled.

"For what?" Calum asked, looking at Michael confusedly.

"I tore Ashton and Luke apart. It's my fault they aren't friends anymore."

Ashton and I looked at each other, our hard stares slowly turning to soft ones. Ashton looked down at Daisy.

"It's not your fault," Ashton hugged her. "We'll work it out. It's not your fault."

He looked back up at me, offering a small smile. A few days ago, I would have returned the gesture with a glare, or rolled my eyes, but this time, I smiled back.
