Luck is not on my side.

I was in my first period history class early since I was good at it and I loved the subject.

Tori and I had said goodbye after we walked to our classes since we didn't have the same class until next period, which is science.

I was standing up, facing away from the door when I heard Holden.

"Well look at that. It's Miss. Badass."

I turned around and smirked.

"Close to my name, but no cigar. Guess again."

"Olive, can you bring this across the hall to room 124?"

I cringed at hearing Ms. Henry say my name. However, Holden smiled.

He followed me out of the classroom, saying my name over and over again.

"Okay!" he stopped speaking at my outburst.

"You know my name but that doesn't mean I'm allowing you to say it."

I opened the door and walked into 124.

"Ms. Henry wanted me to give this to you," I said, speaking softly to the teacher.

She thanked me and I left with Holden on my ass.

"Where did you learn to speak so quietly?"

I spun around.

"You're new to town, I get that. One thing that you should know right now is that I don't want to be your friend."

Holden smiled, which confused me.

"What about being my girlfriend?"

I rolled my eyes and walked away.

"You didn't say no!"

I walked into the classroom and sat down in the seat I had been sitting in for the past month. There were six rows and five seats in each row, but only the first four were used. Holden talked with Ms. Henry before sitting down behind me.

I turned around and glared, "You don't belong there."

He nodded his head and smiled.

"Holden Cash, nice to meet you," he said, putting his hand out.

I stared at it, willing it to burst into flames.

Like I said, luck was not on my side.
