Thank you so much for the banner!!!!

The next day when Tray drove us to school was awkward.

Actually, to say that it was awkward would be an understatement. It was worse than having a pink elephant in the room.

Holden kept trying to initiate the conversation instead of Tray, and all he did for responses were grunts. I’m guessing he didn’t really appreciate his best friend and his sister going out. I’m not really sure why, seeing as how before Holden moved here, I was Tray’s best friend. He probably wouldn’t have had a problem with me dating myself.

Although, I don’t know how that would work.

When we had arrived at school, Tori was sitting on the patch of grass in front of our parking spot. When we had climbed out of the car, Holden held my hand.

It felt… foreign.

Tori smiled until she saw our hands. Then her jaw dropped in disbelief, which prompted Tray to scoff beside us.

“Yeah,” he said, “I didn’t believe it either.”

Tori looked between the two of us.

“Did you guys have sex?”

Tray exclaimed, “That’s what I asked.”

“No,” I said, glaring at Tori. “Can we stop talking about whether or not we had sex? I’d like to keep my sexual endeavors to myself.”

“Aha!” Tori said, pointing a finger at me, “So you did have sex!”

“No!” Holden and I yelled.

I sighed and pulled my hand from Holden’s to put it against my forehead. “Can we please go inside?”

Tori got up and pulled me far away from Holden and Tray.

“So when did you start liking him?” she asked, putting a hand on her hip.

“I don’t,” I replied.

“Are you dating him? Because to lead him on like that-”

“Tori!” I exclaimed.

She shook her head and looked at me with a smile, “Yes?”

“He’s trying to make me like him. And didn’t you say to give him a chance even though I didn’t like him?”

I walked into the building and went to my locker, where Tori held all of her belongings.

Tori chuckled. “Well yeah, but I said to be his friend. I didn’t say to be his girlfriend. That’s a whole different ballpark!”

I closed the locker when we had gotten our binders and said, “Well I’m glad this isn’t a baseball game.”

Walking into my social studies classroom, I could hear Tori say, “That was really corny, Ollie!”

After social studies had ended, Holden picked up my books and walked away from me.

“Holden, would you stop walking so fast?” I asked.

He paused for a moment, only waiting for me to catch up before walking away with him. I jogged to keep up.

“I know you have to make me like you, but I’m perfectly capable of holding my own books; my arms aren’t broken.”

Holden put an arm around me and pulled be closer to him, almost making me trip over my own feet.

“And how is that working?”

I rolled my eyes. “It’s been one day. I still dislike you.”

Holden glanced down at me before turning us into our science classroom.

“Well then I guess I have some work to do, don’t I?”

As I walked to my locker, hands suddenly covered my eyes.

“Guess who,” Holden whispered in my ear.

I put my hands over his and slowly pulled them away. “We need to work up a certain level of me-liking-you before we act like a love sick couple. And since you seem to keep forgetting this one little detail, I’ll say it again: I don’t like you.”

Holden sighed. “Will this help?” He held up a rose to his face.

I looked at him and the rose, seeing how hard he was trying. To humor him, I took it, which made him smile.

“I have something planned for us tonight, so wear something pretty,” he said, before spinning around me, a move I’ve seen him do in football, and walking away.

“Remember Holden, I still don’t like you,” I said, calling out to him.

“I know.”

The next few chapters might be a little slow, so I’m sorry for that.

So I have an APUSH (AP American History) assignment to do over the summer, and I was reading about the Aztecs and Montezuma. I’m kind of a history buff, and I love all things history. I’d live in museums if I could. You should know (before I tell you the funny part) that Hernan Cortes came from Europe to Mexico and controlled the Aztec empire though Montezuma; Cortes had Montezuma order laborers to mine more gold. Eventually, the Aztecs rebelled. Montezuma was found dead and Cortes and his men were driven out of the Aztec empire.

What made me laugh was the line that said, “Montezuma was probably killed by his own people during the revolt.” Probably. LMFAO. He was probably killed by his own people.

Sorry if you didn’t find that funny. Just had to share it.

And thank God we’re on chapter twenty. I hate the number nineteen.
