A/N: On the side has the picture of Ollie's costume.
Two weeks passed since I last talked to Holden. I have to say, I was happier than when he joined football. I didn’t have Holden bothering me at all. It was kind of awkward though. We had every class together and because of him, we sat next to each other in all of them. In science, Tori was the one who did all the talking. We never spoke to each other. I was happy. Like, really happy.
Tray didn’t approve on what we had decided on, so he kept trying to get us to speak to each other. He would frequently leave us in the same room together, but I would always leave. If he ever tried to engage us in a conversation when the other person was in the room, we would grunt.
Even though I was happy, I couldn’t say the same for Holden. He seemed sadder and he was even benched on football. I was instructed by the coach to not take pictures of the people on the bench since Holden was always slumped over, head in his hands. I never did before, so nothing changed there.
I honestly couldn’t say I was sorry for what was happening to Holden. I just didn’t like him.
Currently, I was trying to pick an outfit for Halloween. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to go as. Tray wanted me to go as a zombie football player, but that wasn’t going to happen. Why? Because he wanted me to wear Holden’s jersey. That would’ve been weird all in itself. Tory thought I should be a fairy. I shook my head no and told her she should be the fairy. Nick thought I should be Mario and he’d be Luigi. I nixed that idea before he even finished speaking.
I was walking around a costume shop that didn’t have any complete costume. It was all mix and match, which kind of annoyed me. But then I saw it. The perfect costume. Well, it was just the bottom, but it was still awesome. It was a blue tutu with pink fringes. I looked around the store to see if I could the perfect top. I didn’t find it, but I found a whole bunch of jewelry to wear with my not yet completed costume.
And then I saw the shirt. It wasn’t perfect, but I wasn’t looking for something that matched the tutu. The tutu barely matched itself, for God’s sake. And plus, Halloween isn’t a time where you match. The shirt had black and white stripes. I figured I could tie up the shirt and be some kind of ballerina on crack.
I went to the cash register to see Henry there, sitting on a stool and chewing gum, reading a Batman comic book. When he saw me, he looked surprised and fell out of his seat, scrambling to get up. When he did, he leaned against the counter and attempted to play it cool.
“Hey, Ollie, what’s up?”
I snickered. “Certainly not that piece of gum hanging from your hair.”
Henry’s eyes widened and he turned around to look in the wide mirror that was behind the cash registers.
“Oh crap.” He began to tug at the piece of gum but only succeeded in stretching it out and getting it tangled in his hair and glued to his fingers. I giggled.
Wait. I giggled. Uh-oh, something’s about to go down…
“Here, let me help,” I said, reaching out to help him.
“How? Unless you carry peanut butter with you everywhere. In which case, I might forget my decision in asking you to the Halloween dance.”
I smiled sheepishly and took out a peanut butter sandwich I was carrying in my bag. Henry eyed me.
“You have milk in there too?”
My smile widened and I pulled out chocolate Nesquick. Henry laughed.
“Why dear girl,” he said in a British accent, “You are a weird one.”
I took some peanut butter and began to work it into his hair. Curly hair and gum don’t mix. Henry was busy trying to get it off his fingers.
