Chapter 8
This dream is different; I am running through the woods, in wolf form. I feel free and unfettered. I can smell the trees and wildlife around me. I hear something pursuing me, so I put on some speed, knowing that I can outrun anyone, then the dream changes, I have morphed into my human self, and I am being pursued, and they are gaining. I am grabbed from behind and swung around, my back pressed against the trunk of a large tree. My gold flecked green eyes locking with his silver ones. He presses himself against me, kissing me, his tongue darting into my mouth…
Aaaaah! I scream as the ice cold water drenches me.
“What was that for!” I shrieked, looking at Kyle.
“You were projecting that dream to everyone!” he yelled at me, as I got out of my now very wet bed. “The last thing I want is to be getting off on my alpha doing my room mate!”
I turned on the lamp on my nightstand, and looked at Kyle. He was shirtless, and covered in sweat, with his blankets gathered around his waist. There was desire radiating from his deep blue eyes as he looked at me. I looked down, realizing my white tank top was now wet, and somewhat see through. With a squeak I grabbed my sheet and covered myself. Kyle smiled and turned to leave.
“I need a cold shower.” He muttered as he walked toward the bathroom.
“Hey Kyle, when you said everyone, did you mean EVERYONE?” I asked somewhat timidly.
“Yes, that could have been picked up three states away.” He said, trying not to laugh.
“Oh no.” I groaned.
He closed the bathroom door, and I heard the shower turn on. He really did need a cold shower. I didn’t know guys really did that. I thought.
Yeah, we do, especially living with someone like you. Kyle replied, having heard me.
Isn’t there any privacy?
No, he responded, you are now part of a pack, like it or not. We can hear your thoughts and you can hear ours. And you are the first girl I have had to deal with, so it has been an adventure. I detected a hint of amusement.
If that is true, how come I don’t hear you all the time? I know you guys communicate more often than I hear. I asked.
Most of us have been around long enough to develop shields, you will too, It just takes time. He replied, turning off the water. A few moments later he came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist.
“All better now?” I asked.
“As long as my annoying room mate can keep her mind out of the gutter, yes, I am.” A smile lighting up his face.
He went back to bed, and I grabbed an extra blanket and pillow, and lay down on the floor. My bed was soaked so that was out of the question. I started to drift off to sleep.
I felt like I was walking with someone. Almost like a ghost. I realize that it is Vash. Somehow I am with him, right now, and he is going somewhere. He gets to his destination, an off campus apartment. He knocks, a pretty blonde lets him in. He says her name, Tabitha. There is a little small talk and he goes back to her bedroom with her. I do not want to be here, but I can’t disconnect. They undress as if this is a regular occurrence, and he proceeds to make love to her. I really do not want to see this. He is not satisfied with one round, and they go at it for most of the night. He finally falls asleep, and the bond is broken.
I sit up, shaking and sweating. It is four am, and I don’t think I can fall back to sleep. I go out to the kitchen, and make some hot cocoa, and try not to cry. I am not sure why it even bothers me. I should be relieved.
