Chapter 14

**Nick**

“How the f*ck did she lose you!” Jon shouted.  I was forced to tell him, and give him the envelope Chloe left for him, this morning. He is, obviously, unhappy.

“Do you know what Vladimir is going to do to me if she gets hurt?  Then, by proxy, to you?” he stated, a snarl following. I sighed, knowing he has a point. I waited until he calmed down, then outlined the things Chloe wanted us to go over.

“Jon, I know you are upset. She contacted Jax, that fae boy from her Lit class.  He is a teleporter.  We couldn’t have stopped her if we wanted. She has a plan, and she is only telling us the parts she wants us to know. I suggest you read the information she left to you.” I said, as calmly as possible. He grunted, running his hand across his short, dark hair.

“I want to know everything you know,” he said.

“No.” I replied, knowing how foolish it was to challenge him right now. In a flash he had me pinned against the wall, his snarling face inches from my own. I could see how stressed he was, he hadn‘t shaved, and had dark circles below his eyes. “before you rip out my throat, let me explain,” I croaked out past my blocked airway. He let up pressure, but did not let me go. “She has given us different tasks for a reason.  If I betray her trust, I may jeopardize her plans, resulting in failure, and her capture. And if you think Vladimir is going to be mad now, imagine how angry he will be if she dies. I can’t take that chance, I have to protect her in any way I can. If it seems that keeping her confidence is no longer necessary, or worse, she is in danger due to the lack of information, I will fill you in. Read what she wrote you.” With a hard shove, he backed off, and picked up the manila envelope, tearing the top off.  Inside were a neatly written note, a floor plan, and photographs.  Jon scanned the note, then inspected the other items in the packet and grumbled to himself.

“Get out.” Jon dismissed me, and picked up his phone.  As I walked away, I heard him say Vash’s name.

“Well?” Trevor asked, raising his eyebrows and punching me in the arm.

“Now we head to Prague.”  I said.

Twenty four hours later, Mack, Cody, Trevor and I were walking the streets of Prague, looking for the hotel that Chloe had made reservations in. We entered and started surveying the group of men in the lobby, looking for our contact. I saw him, leaning against the far wall, reading a newspaper. He was hard to miss; standing at least 6’4” he was stunning, in a pair of black dress pants and a dark blue dress shirt that clung to his toned chest. If I wasn’t straight, I would have been drooling. The women walking through the lobby were staring at him, not even trying to hide their lustful looks.  His blonde hair softly curled to his shoulders, and his swirling bright blue eyes were scanning the people in the room, coming to land on us.  I saw a slight frown, and he pushed himself away from the wall and strode over to us.

“I hope you are ready for this.” He spoke softly to us, his voice as smooth as silk. Everything in me wanted to kill him, beautiful or not, he was dangerous. “Pup, I know what you are thinking, and, you would be dead before you could even throw your first punch. I do not want to work with you anymore than you want to work with me, but for the love of those that asked that we do, we need to get along.” He strode to the front desk, and checked us in, retrieving our key cards and heading to our room. We were staying in the presidential suite, and it was spectacular. I think it was the nicest place I have ever stayed in. The floors were white marble, and it was decorated in a neo-classical French décor, elegantly draped French doors opened onto a balcony that overlooked the city. The colors were gold’s and creams with splashes of red. I turned after surveying the room and looked at our guest.
