Chapter 15

You need to find Vladimir. Josephine stated. You cannot win against Darius without him.

You do realize that Vash still wants to kill him. I replied.

We realize that there are hurdles to overcome, but you must hurry; if you do not things will not go well. Darius is coming after you himself. Marguerite replied.

What does that mean? I said feeling a bit panicked. I have already had my share of abductions. I do not want to have it happen again. what is he going to do?

Find Vladimir. Either way, Vash needs him. Josephine said. Darius will be coming, consider yourself warned. With that the connection terminated.

I woke in the middle of the night, with a start. I am hoping the dream I just had was one, but somehow I knew that it was not. The twins had just contacted me and plied me with the task of bringing Vash and Vladimir together, and doing it in such a way that no one dies. How the hell am I supposed to do that? There are several little hitches to this plan: one…no one can find Vladimir. Two…Vash wants to kill Vladimir. Three…well, there doesn’t really need to be a three. I slipped out of bed, put on my fuzzy pink robe, and padded to the kitchen, knowing that I was not going to be able to get back to sleep. I didn’t want to wake Vash with my restlessness. I started a pot of homemade hot chocolate, and put some bread in the toaster. The toaster popped, and I pulled the toast out, burning my fingertips. Somehow toast and hot chocolate always seems to make me feel better. Vash came into the kitchen and gathered me into his arms. He brushed the hair out of my face and tucked it behind my ear.

“I panicked when I woke and you weren’t in bed.” He whispered in my ear, gently kissing the area behind it sending shivers down my spine.

“I can’t sleep and didn’t want to wake you.” I said as my lips brushed his neck.

“I can think of things to do.” He said huskily.

“I know, but we need to talk first. The twins contacted me.” I said, with apprehension sounding in my voice.

“What did they have to say?” a slight frown sliding into place.

“Well, they feel that you and Vladimir need to mend the fence, or we are in trouble with the second thing they said.” I replied, not wanting to say the second thing out loud.

“What else did you hear?” he asked, his eyes riveted to mine, concern etched across his face.

“Um, that Darius is coming for me.” I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to hide how much this scares me. The conditioning mess I removed from Vladimir’s mind was horrible. Darius was responsible. He scares the shit out of me.

Vash tightened his hug, pulling my head against his chest. “Darius will not take you, we will find Vladimir. I will try and put my feelings aside for your sake.” I secretly hoped Vash could keep those promises, but a sense of foreboding filled me. I had the feeling that no matter what I did, I would have that run-in with Darius. The only variable was if I would live through it. Without Vladimir, the answer was no.

We stood like that for a minute or two, then Vash tilted my head up and pressed his lips against mine. His kiss was insistent, demanding a response, and I answered. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist, my robe parting to reveal I wasn’t wearing anything underneath. Vash growled, untied it and slipped it off my shoulders, leaning me against the kitchen counter. His now swollen manhood pressed against me, the only thing separating us is the thin material of his pajama bottoms. He explored my body with his mouth and hands and I started to moan with pleasure. He slipped out of his pj’s and took me right there on the counter, the toast and hot chocolate forgotten. Later, we made our way back to the bedroom, falling asleep in each others arms. One of the last thoughts I had was how glad I was that Kyle decided to stay with his brother for a while.
