Chapter 12
You must take her soon. We cannot wait. You were given instructions to reclaim the bloodline. Instead you allowed the white one to mark her, ruining our chances to turn her. We are displeased. The elimination of the parents was handled poorly, as well. You made a mess. We do not want to call attention to ourselves. You brought the white one again, so now he is here and completed the mating. Do not delay much longer. I will leave you with a lesson on why you will follow our will.
Then the pain started.
I lay on my back, screaming, my hands trying to find something to grab. The pain in my head was so intense that I could not focus on anything else. It finally stopped.
When my vision cleared, I saw Darius gliding away. If there was anyone I hated more than my brother, it was him. Most vampires’ respect human life, as killing off your food source would be stupid. Some; however, felt that humans should be kept like cattle, not allowed to grow and develop. Now I am caught in this struggle. I really dislike vampires.
As I lay trying to pull myself together I thought back to when I first made contact with him. I met Darius right after I changed. He took me in, and helped me. I looked up to him. At least until I learned what he was and what his abilities are. I came in one night to find him feeding on a young girl. The scene was grisly and it made me physically ill. I went outside planning to run when he came out and tackled me. I made the mistake of looking him in the eye; those swirling brown and black eyes. He got inside my head. Now I am his. If I run, he finds me, and the pain begins.
=========================
Once I got back to my office, I called the pack together. Now that the semester is over, it is safe to have them come here. Ivan was the first to arrive; Jon and Eli were next, followed by the rest. In total there are six.
“It’s time. We need to grab her. Go to her house and wait for the opportunity. Do not try it if Vash or Zeke are there, they are dangerous, and I need a head start. Do not screw this up, if you do I will taste your blood.” I instructed.
“Can I kill Kyle?” Ivan asked, his voice a gravelly growl.
“As long as you do not jeopardize the mission, I do not care.” I replied.
We spent the rest of the afternoon going over the plans. Once I felt the plot was sufficiently organized, I leaned back on my chair, and smiled. Soon, girly, I will have you, and my brother’s pain will begin.
==========
We went in at noon. I sent Jon and Ivan to get the girl, and the other four to track down the one guarding her. I waited in a clearing for everyone to finish their jobs. I didn’t have long to wait. Eli and the others drug Kyle into the clearing; he was unconscious. They dropped him, then surrounded him, making sure he could not get away if he woke. He definitely put up a good fight, as all four of the pack were injured. Eli sported a gash across his face, blood running down to drop on his naked chest. The others wore similar wounds.
“We did not kill him, Ivan wants that privilege.” Eli said. I nodded in acknowledgement.
No sooner had he spoken, Ivan came into the clearing with the girl slung over his shoulder. She was struggling but unable to get away. I heard a groan from Kyle and smiled. This was going to be interesting. Ivan brought her to me and dropped her on her ass. She landed hard. Jumped up and glared at Ivan. He just smiled wickedly at her, then looked at Kyle. His smile got bigger. The guys backed off, giving Ivan and Kyle some room. Ivy got up and I grabbed her by the arms. She looked up at me with raw fury in her eyes. She must have given Ivan a hard time, she had a bruise starting on her cheekbone where he must have punched her.
“Just watch, girly. You get to watch Ivan kill your buddy.” I said with a smile on my face. Her reaction was anything but typical.
