the bed sheets were still surprisingly warm from calum's bare back, even though he had gotten up to shower long ago. my hands gripped the white sheets that covered me to my noes. the wooden fan above spun slowly, creating a cool air.
i slip my feet from under the sheets, my toes touching the wooden boards that chilled my toes. small squeaks came from the floor boards as i tiptoed to the kitchen.
calum sat at one if the three counter stools, stirring a bland looking cesarean around. luke was in front if the fridge, starring blankly at the glowing lights.
"morning beautiful." calum turned with a small smile. his waves in his hair were still damp from his shower, and i could that always lingered on him, spearmint.
"hi." i shoved myself into the stool next to him.
"luke and i have to be at work at 9:30, what time do you have to be at the coffee shop?" he finished his bowl, and dumped the left over milk into the silver sink.
"i need to be there at 10 to start my shift."
he nods in response, then looks me in the eyes. luke, who had finally moved from the fridge, was now buttering toast.
"would you like something to eat, esme?"
"i'll have whatever, let me collect my things." i spin around, finding my scrunched up clothes and jacket from the previous day on the floor. my phone had been plugged in, i check it. i had a call from my mother, who probably just wanted to check on me. so, i ignored it, and decided to call her on my break.
when i pranced back into the two aussie's kitchen, a bowl of frosted flakes sat in front of one stool.
i thanked calum, as he went to make his bed. i felt guilty, for sleeping in his bed, and eating his food.
as if he was reading my mind, luke turned to me, "you know he likes doing this all for you." he munched on the toast with the brown spread.
"yes, i am thankful for that." i grin, spooning another thing of cereal into my mouth.
we left with thirty minutes to spare, well thirty minutes for the boys. i had an hour until i started work. calum let me barrow one of his large black shirts, because mine was all the way back home.
i told the two i would walk to my shop, to waste time and see them later. i kicked the small pebbles and stones that were in my way as i walked.
my phone rang again as i stood outside the shop, it was quinn who i most certainly didn't want to speak to at that very moment.
my shift almost moved in slow motion, it seemed as if i would never reach my first break. each customer took their time ordering, making sure to over-pronounce every word.
on break I called my mother. who asked about my daily life, i lied about zoe, deciding now was not the time to announce the sudden death. we talked of Quinn's wedding which would be in Brighton in just a few weeks.
i was allowed one extra guest, and i planned to bring calum, but quinn had already established her hate for him in the matter of seconds she first saw him.
as i finished my last few minutes, i saw calum walk in and sit down at the table in the corner, i smile to him.
this. this i could get used to.
