today was my fifth time car pooling with calum. the third day, i didn't even have to call to tell him, he was just there.

over the last few days, he told me a little about himself. he lived in sydney all his life, until moving to london after graduating. his friend, luke, and himself shared an apartment seven blocks down from mine. he currently worked at the music shop, along with luke, but planned on getting a more serious job soon. calum also played the guitar and bass as he had told me. he also had an older sister. that was as far as he had gotten with his life story. the aussie explained to me, that where he was from you usually don't talk about yourself much. so to him, it was a strange new experience.

as far as my story, all he knew was where i lived and that i had a dog. thinking of my dog, calum is suppose to remind me that he can meet her. he seemed to really like dogs, from his handful of stories where he hung out with 'cool' dogs.

if he did in fact want to meet zoe, i was lucky that i had cleaned the apartment. i would be quite embarrassed with a mess. usually there were books everywhere, sticky notes were all over, and mugs left on ever table.

"ready?" calum greets me friday after work, i hung up my apron and grabbed my coat. it was now a somewhat familiar path to his parked car.

"how was your day?" he asks, beginning the usual conversation.

"boring, the customers are so difficult. 'i want a hot chocolate, but i don't want it hot.'" i imitate one of the annoying people i had to take orders for. my voice high pitched and irritating, the australian laughs.

"i just showed this guy a guitar he wanted and suggested some cds. which reminds me, i got this with my paycheck." he holds up a plastic case that held all time lows album, don't panic. i nearly squealed, as i had told the boy that all time low was my favorite band. i had this album, but i begged calum to get it for his car rides.

"don't get too excited, you still have to listen to one of my bands." he reminds me, running his fingers through his hair.

"alright." i sigh.

"so, will today be the day i get to pet your dog or...?" he starts, showing a little grin forming.

"yes, you can come creepily pet my dog." i giggle, tugging on the sleeves of my grey sweater. by then, we had reached the car and we were getting in. he of course opened my door, just like all the other days. still the gentlemen he has been.

"i am not creepy." he states blankly, starting the car, the noise roaring.

"that's a matter of opinion." i continue laughing.

"well my opinion is that i'm not creepy, and my friends agree." he tells me, trying hard to keep a straight face.

"then i need luke's put on this."

"you're in luck, he needs a ride on tuesday. if you don't mind." calum smiles. surprisingly, we were already pulling into the parking lot of my apartment complex.

"i don't mind all." i hum, and step out of the parked car. we climb the steps up to the fifth floor, because the elevator is broken. i unlock the door, zoe jumping up on me excitingly. noticing calum behind me, she barks viciously.

"hey girl, this is calum. he wants to say hi." i squeak, and she runs to jump up on him. he instantly melts in front of her, talking in a high pitch voice and scratching her in the perfect spot, behind the ear. i am in awe at how cute it is.

"so would you like to stay for dinner? i was going to order some chinese food." i offer him, placing my bag down on the couch.

"you know what."

"what?"

"i would love to stay and have some chinese food with you, esme." calum smiles before giving zoe one of the biggest hugs ever.

so i ordered chinese food. we ate at the couch and watched a movie, although i didn't pay much attention to it. then he played his music for me on his phone. this included a speech about how awesome green day is. in return i played all time low's albums, and told him how jack was really attractive. i am sure he got bored, but he looked very attentive.

when the australian left, i was sad. i never had anyone over anymore after ali left to go 'find herself' in new york. i just worked to pay the bills, now i had a friend. one that i could actually do things with. i'm kind of glad that shitty bus broke.
