Izzy’s POV:
It was dismissal time and I’m alone walking at the hallway. I decided to go to the music hall to play a piano because when I was young, I used to play it all the time but then as time went by I became busy in cheerleading but I’m still into it.
I’m about to go inside when I hear a guy singing in the music hall. His voice captivated my emotions; it’s truly an angelic voice, one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. I thought he was just a guy from the choral but then when I stared inside, I saw Paul singing and playing a guitar. I was really shocked because I never thought he’s good in singing because he didn’t belong to the singing club of our school. He was singing ‘Just the Way You Are’ by Bruno Mars and his voice was really full of emotions and very manly.
While I was listening to him, I was shocked when he saw me. He suddenly stopped singing and hide against the wall. I was very nervous as well because he might think that I’m a creeper who stalks him always. I was shocked even more when he went outside and walked in front of me, looking into my eyes.
“Uhmmm I just walked by here but I didn’t mean to watch you. This is just sort of coincidence.” I said, biting my nails and not looking at him.
“I thought so.” He replied quickly and walked away.
“Paul, wait!” I shouted. He looked back.
“What is it?” He asked.
“Uhmm maybe we can jam together?” I asked nervously.
He went back in front of me and said;
“That would be great but I can’t sing well.” He ran his hand on his hair. Woah! That was freaking gorgeous!
“Are you kidding me? You have a voice of an angel!” I replied quickly.
“Really? So you’re watching me lately then?” He smiled.
I froze and don’t know what to say. I don’t want to admit that I was watching him the whole time because he might think that I’m a freak.
“Of course not! It’s just a guess which can be probably true.” I nodded.
“Well, your guess was wrong.” He replied.
“I won’t believe until you sing with me.” I smiled.
“I won’t do that until you admit that you’re watching me the whole time.” He replied very quick and laughed a bit.
“Should I tell this to you a billion times? I’m not watching you lately!” I shouted.
“Okay. I have to go then.” He was walking away from me slowly but then I stopped him.
“Ughhh okay, I’m watching you the whole time; happy now?” I said in an annoyed tone.
“Very much.” He burst out laughing.
There were only few students that then in school because it was passed 2 hours since the dismissal time. We went inside the music hall and we sat on a couch thingy and had some chit chat.
“You really have an incredible voice! Why didn’t you join the singing club?” I asked him in a sincere tone.
“To be honest, being a musician is really my dream since I was a kid. But the problem is, I have a very low self-esteem and maybe that’s also one of the reasons why I was getting bullied.” He sighed.
“I understand you. You know what, my life wasn’t really perfect unlike what it seems. When I was a kid, I also got bullied because they say I’m different and shy. I experienced being called a lot of names and always being the ‘loser type.’ I always cry when I went home, getting depressed even I’m still a kid. My Mom noticed my behavior and she started to motivate me. She told me that I should be strong enough to get along with the society. She told me to just be yourself and don’t mind what others tell about me as long as I know that I’m not doing anything wrong. She told me that life’s too short to worry about what people think about you. That I should stand up by myself and let everyone knows that even I’m just a kid, I can handle myself and I can prove to them that I’m not that type of person who they can make fun of. Since then, they started to respect me and be close to me. I realized that life is all about being yourself and pursuing what you really love and what you want to become. I know that you can also do that.” I looked at him and smiled.
“Wow! I never thought you also experienced those things. All of the people here thought that you’re Ms. Perfect. You’re nice, have loving family and friends, intelligent enough, talented, beautiful, and hardworking. Now, I realized that behind all those perfect lives have hidden stories that made them perfect. You inspired me a lot just through your experience. I hope I can also bring myself up as well.” He said.
“You really can if you’re going to sing and play guitar now.” I laughed a bit.
“Will do.” He smiled.
He started to strum his guitar and sing ‘Little Things’ by One Direction.
I found myself smiling and feeling of fulfillment. As he hits the notes, I can’t help but to feel amazed. From all the people who sang with me, he’s the most special one without any reason. Well maybe because I know that he’s not like those other guys who brag their talent. He’s the type of guy who’ll wait to notice his majestic talent.
Because I’m indeed a massive Directioner, I can’t help but to sing with him; wishing I won’t destroy his performance. As we hit the last note, we both smiled to each other. It was such a great experience and one of my most unforgettable ones.
We were about to talk more when our music teacher came inside with her shocked face.
“What the hell are you two doing here alone? Don’t tell me you did what I’m thinking.” She widened her eyes and folded her arms.
“What a great mind you have, Ms.! We’re not doing anything stupid here, we’re just jamming out.” I said and I laughed so hard.
“You can’t blame me Ms. Harwood, you two are the only who left here in school. Don’t you mind to go back home now?” She pointed the door and we went outside.
While walking with him, we can’t stop laughing about what just happened. Dang! Our music teacher got a very wide and imaginative mind.
