Chapter 28

I walked into Hayes and I's room and went to my set of drawers and pulled out a pair of black jeans and a dressy shirt. Once I put them on, I went into the bathroom and did my normal makeup routine and put my hair up in a ponytail. I walked into the kitchen and opened up the cupboard next to it and pulled out a pair of black Jeffery Campbell's. I put them on and walked into the lounge room where Shawn and Matt were. "To dressy?" I spun around and waited for their response. "It looks great." I smiled at Matt. "It looks amazing, but you're missing something."

I watched as Shawn stood up and walked towards Hayes and I's room. He came out holding something behind his back. "Turn around." I turned around as Shawn put something around my neck. I looked down to see the H necklace that Elizabeth and Johnnie got me for Christmas. "I can't believe I forgot to put that on!" I gave Shawn and Matt a hug just as Hayes came out of our bedroom wearing a buttoned up shirt, jeans and a pair of red Vans.

"Ready to go?" I nodded and grabbed my phone and wallet. "Just ring me if anything goes wrong, and I'll come straight home." They nodded and shut the door.

Once we got to the restaurant, Elizabeth and Johnnie were already there. We walked in and walked up to our table. "Hayes, honey, how are you?" Elizabeth gave Hayes a hug and looked at me. "Alli." She just sat down, Johnny doing the same. Hayes pulled out my chair and sat down o the seat next to me. "What's up mum?" Hayes looked at his mum and smiled. "Well Nash said you had gotten back together with your ex, so I invited you guys here thinking it was going to Tiffany not Alli." I jaw dropped as well Hayes'. "Um, excuse me." I stood up leaving my wallet on Hayes' lap. I walked out of the restaurant and sat down on the bench outside. I rang up Shawn. "Hey?"

"Hey."

"Look if your ringing up to see if everything is, everything's fine."

"No. I just needed to get out. Elizabeth thought that it was going to be Tiffany not me." I few tears dropped. "Alli, go back in there acting like you, not the young Alli she knew, but the grown up, motherly Alli." I smiled. "Okay, bye." Shawn hung up and I went to get up when I noticed someone sitting next to me. I smiled at them and stood up. "Alli?" Oh it's Hayes. "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention." I sat back down. "You okay?" I nodded. "Let's just get this over with." Hayes nodded, stood up and grabbed my hand. We walked back in there and sat down. "So Alli, Nash told me you ran off to London." Hayes moved his hand from my hand to my thigh comfortingly. "Yeah, I did."

"Why is that?" Hayes squeezed my thigh to get my attention. I smiled and nodded hoping that, that was his guesting asking me if I want him to tell Elizabeth and Johnnie. "Well, errrr, weee. Just look." Hayes let go of my thigh and got his phone out of his pocket. He opened up the picture that he took the other night when he put Ross in the bed with us and we both fell asleep. He passed his phone to his mum and grabbed hold of my hand. "Who is this?" Elizabeth looked up. "Myyy...Our son."

"You ran away because you got pregnant? What kind of sick person keeps a pregnancy from their partner, the father of their child? Hayes honey you could so much better." I looked at the floor to keep them from seeing my tears. "She did it to save my career. She was doing what she thought was right. And mum you cant tell me that I could do better because you've had a divorce so that proves that you don't have a very good track record. So don't lecture me about my love life unless yours is perfect. And Johnny don't tell me not to speak to my mother like that because I'm an adult and I have my rights. Now good bye." Hayes grabbed my hand and pulled me up, dragging me out the restaurant and back to the car. "Do you want to get food or..."

"I just want to go home." Hayes nodded. "Babe, I'm so sorry. I didn't know that was going to happen and if I did I wouldn't have taken you."

"Maybe your mum's right. Maybe you could do better. You could take Ross whenever you want and I'll do my thing while you do yours. Maybe its for the best?" Hayes sighed and leant back on the car seat. "I'll do what you think is right." I nodded and leant my head against the window. The drive back to the house silent. Not the comfortable silence but the awkward kind. Every so often, Hayes would shake his head and mumble something to himself.

We pulled up to the driveway of our apartment and as soon as Hayes turned the car off, I got out slamming the car door behind me. Hayes copying. "What's your problem?" I turned around and looked at Hayes with tears I my eyes. "This." I motioned between him and me. "This is my problem. Your parents hate me so why try. Being together never works out and we always end worse than intended. I just cant do it." I turned around and walked inside the building. I walked up the stairs, ignoring Hayes yelling my name. I got to the door and held my hand out waiting for Hayes to give me his keys. Once I had opened the door, I gave Hayes his keys back and slammed the door shut.

"What happened?" I looked up from the door and saw Nash, Viky, Shawn, Matt, the twins and Ross sitting in the lounge room. "Don't worry about it." I turned around and Hayes was standing in the doorway. "Excuse me." I gave Ross a kiss on the head and walked into my room. "Alli?" I looked up from my pillow, which I had been crying into. Viky was standing by the door with a worried look on her face. "We broke up. Your to-be mother-in-law hates my guts. So I called it off."

"Awww Alli..." She rushed over and sat down next to me and rubbed my back while I cried. "What are you going to do about Ross?" I sighed and looked up. "I can't stop him from seeing his child but I can stop him from seeing me." Viky sighed and looked down. "What?" She looked up looking guilty. "Well, you know how you're my maid of honour?" I nodded smiling. "Well, Nash is having a best man and his best man is going to be Hayes." I threw myself backwards and groaned. "Are you bing serious?"

"Yeah."

"Well I'm going to have to be the adult I am and suck it up." Viky smiled and held her hand out. "Lets go out there, so you can see your niece and nephew." I made sure that I had no ruined makeup and walked out. Jai was sitting on the couch near the hallway so I ran up and covered his eyes. "Guess who."

"Auntie Alli." I moved my hands from his eyes and picked him up. "Hey buddy." I gave him a hug and when I put him down, Debbie was standing next to me smiling. "Hey Debbie." She gave me a quick hug and ran off to play with Matt. I looked around and noticed that Ross or Hayes weren't here. "Where are Ross and Hayes?" Matt looked up and Viky looked at Nash confused. "Hayes said that you told him he could have Ross for the night." It was at that moment that I realised that I had said that in the car. "Oh right."

"He also told us what happened." I nodded and Shawn stood up and gave me a hug. "I never liked their mum anyway." I giggled and wrapped ay arms around his waist.
