Forever?

Chapter 32

"Luke?" I was walking through his house trying to find one of my best friends. "Where are you?" I looked behind the curtain and then walked over to the kitchen bench. "BOO!" Luke was sitting up against the cupboards. "Have you found the others?" I nodded and looked towards the other room where the rest of the boys were. "Mum. Your phone's ringing." He ran in and handed me my phone. I looked down at the contact and saw that it was Alex. "Hey."

"Hey." I straightaway knew that there was something wrong. "What's wrong?"

"What makes you think there's something wrong?" I sighed. "Look are you home?"

"No."

"Okay please go home and ring me back once you get there."

"Okay, talk to you later." I hung up the phone and looked at the boys. "Ross we have to go home now. You need to go to bed." Ross nodded his head and gave the boys all a hug. "See you later." Ross picked up his bag and walked out the front door and got into the car. Once we got home, I got Ross to bed and sat down on the couch, ringing Alex back. "Hello."

"Hey."

"Okay, I want the truth. What is going on?"

"Okay, well, this morning when Jack and I got back from work. Dad was lying on the couch, with Mum sitting on the floor on the phone in tears. When she got off the phone we asked what was going on and she explained how she was ringing an ambulance because Dad had a heart attack." As soon as he was finished I could feel the tears coming. "How is he now?"

"He is on life support." I was in so much shock that I just hung up the phone and cried. "Alli?" The door flew open and someone sat down next to me and gave me a hug. "Hey. It's okay." I looked up and saw Hayes. "What are you doing here?"

"Mum rang me and told me to bring you back to Carolina. So if you go and pack right now I have two tickets to fly back."

"What about Ross?"

"We'll get someone to look after him." I nodded and picked up my phone and rang Jai. "Hey what's up?"

"Can you watch Ross for awhile?"

"Yeah of course, why?"

"I need to fly home for awhile. Dad's sick."

"Do you need me to come with you?"

"No, Hayes is coming with me."

"Okay, I'll be over in like 20 minutes." He hung up and I went running into my room. "Your all packed." I gave him a hug before sitting down on the couch waiting for Jai. About 15 minutes later Jai knocked on the door. "Hey. I have to go but thank you so much." I gave him a kiss on the cheek and ran out the door with Hayes.

Once we got to the airport our plane was going to take off in 20 minutes so we ran through security and just made it on the plane. "I really wish I wore sweats, not jeans." Hayes laughed and the plane took off.

Skipping Plane Trip

Once we got off the plane, we got into a cab and went to the hospital. In the cab, it was silent, except for the radio. I leant up against the window and let stray tears run down my cheek. "Alli. He's going to be okay." I felt Hayes put his hand on my knee comfortingly. "How do you know though?" I asked while tears were flowing down my cheeks. "Your Dad is the strongest man I've ever known. And I've met a lot of men." I smiled and wiped my tears away. "Even if he's not going to be okay. You still have lots of family who care for you." I leant into Hayes, resting my head on his shoulder, taking his hand in mine. "Thank you." He smiled and rested his head on top of mine. "Okay we're here. That will be $45. And I hope whoever is injured or sick gets better Miss." I smiled and nodded my head, unbuckling my seatbelt. "You go."
