Chapter 39

"MUM." I turned around from the person I was talking to and smiled. "Hey buddy." I picked him up and gave him a hug. "How was it?"

"Really good. We watched movies and ate ice cream." I smiled and put him down holding his hand. "Where's your dad?" I waved by to the coffee girl and turned around. "I don't know, I saw you in here and ran in."

"Ross you can't run away like that. It scares me and your Dad." I walked out of the shop and towards the carpark where Hayes was standing, one his phone. "Nash, he took off, I don't know where he went." I tapped his back and he spun around, when he saw Ross he sighed. "Don't worry I've got him." He hung up the phone, putting it in his pocket. "Where did you go?"
"To see Mum." He stood up and ran his hands down his face. "He gave me a heart attack." I smiled and took a sip of my coffee. "Welcome to everyday of my life." He stuck his tongue out and smiled. "What's the plan?"

"I don't know? What do you want to do Ross?" He looked up at the sky before looking up at us. "I want to go to the beach." I looked at Hayes, shrugging. "I'm for it." He nodded before looking up. "But I don't think it's really the weather." I looked down at my outfit and laughed. A redish dress with sleeves, stockings and boots. "Maybe another day bud." He stuck out his bottom lip. "I need to do some Christmas shopping if you guys are up for shopping?" I looked at Ross who was nodding. "Yeah to be honest so do I." He smiled and we got into his car. "How did you get here?"

"I walked." He looked down at the shoes I was wearing. "You walked in them?"

"Yes, they aren't that high."

"Okay." He turned into the shopping centre and found a park. "Mum can I go and look in the toy shop?" I nodded as Ross ran off into the shop. "Do you know what he wants to do for his birthday?"

"He wants a pool party."

"That works, I can ask Nash."

"Beau said we can have it there. Ross wants to have it there I think." Hayes nodded and watched Ross as he rode the bike, which was on display. "What are we going to do about Ross?"

"With the whole arrangement?"

"Yeah, I mean he's starting school next year we need to come to a agreement on how we can both see him equally." I nodded and picked up the stuffed rabbit off of the shelf. "Well what about I have him Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. You can pick him up from school on the Friday and have him over the weekend and then I can pick him back up on the Tuesday afternoon."

"That works for me."

"And if we ever need him for some reason we can have him." Hayes nodded and smiled as Ross came running over. "Ready to go?" He nodded and grabbed Hayes' hand.

"Ross say bye to your dad." Ross ran back out of the house and gave him a hug. "See you soon bud." He put Ross down and smiled. "I'll pick him up Friday." I nodded and shut the door. "Bye."

"Do you want to help me wrap presents?" Ross shook him head and climbed onto the couch turning it on. I rolled my eyes and sat down on the floor pulling out the wrapping paper and the presents. "Okay there's presents missing." Ross looked at me and widened his eyes. "Whose?"

"Alright we have the twins, Nash, Viky, Aaron, Cameron, Dad, Alex, Jack, Will, Grandma, Nan, Grandad Johnny, Chad, Amelia, Taylor, Jack and Jack, Matt, Shawn and you. So who are we missing?"

"Jai!" I looked at Ross with a blank expression. "Shit I forgot them and the party is tomorrow." Ross smiled and got off of the couch walking over to me. "You said a bad word." I nodded and stood up grabbing my bag. "We need to hurry out and buy them presents."

"What about dinner?"

"We'll get maccas or something." Ross nodded and ran out of the door.

"I think we should get this for Daniel." Ross was holding up a pair of black Ugg boots. "Maybe in brown." He nodded and picked them up, taking them to the counter. "Is this all?" I nodded and paid. "Alright one down four to go." We got a few gift cards for Beau and James who were harder to buy for then the others. For Jai we got him a set of pencils and a sketchpad. "Okay so we just need to get something for Luke."

"How about we go to Brookstones?" I nodded and followed Ross into Brookstones. We walked up and down the aisles trying to find something. Then we came across a wide variety of beats. Remembering that Luke said his broke I picked up a pair of Pro over-ear headphones and gave them to Ross to hold. "Do you reckon that we should get them a combined present as well?" Ross nodded and lead me over to where the speakers are. "A speaker?"

"Yeah when I was over there the other day, I heard Jai say that they needed an outdoor speaker." I nodded and chose this water resistant table kind of thing that has a built in speaker in it.

We got home after stopping at Maccas. "Okay so we'll leave this in the car and we are getting there early anyway tomorrow so we can just get them to come and get it." Ross nodded and carried up one of the bags. "Okay go get ready for bed." Ross went and get ready for bed while I wrapped the rest of the presents. "Alright, lets go to bed."
