I got in the truck and slammed the door. I folded my hands over my chest and tried to compose myself.
This is what you need to help you. You're gonna be happy after this. I chanted in my head to no avail of convincing myself of such.
"Do you mind?" His rough, low voice came out.
"What?" I asked trying not to sound so angry.
"You damn there knocked the door off that's what." He complained.
"Sorry." I mumbled and he sucked his teeth putting the car in drive.
"Where you live?" He asked me.
"I'll give you directions." I told him.
"Yeah whatever." He spat and I looked at him oddly.
He was just nice a few minutes ago opening doors and what not.
I sat quiet, partly because he probably had an attitude and I had nothing to say really. I knew I was wrong by slamming the door but I couldn't really get why he was mad.
I grabbed my phone remembering to curse my sister out for having him come get me. I could have at least went into my office and added some curls to my head but no, I am just plain old A'taya.
I thought about it for a second and decided against texting her.
Once I got to my house I sighed. "Thank you." I told him and he looked away.
"Jerk." I mumbled and tried to open my door but he locked it.
"What did you say?"
"I said you were a jerk. I express my gratitude to you and you completely ignore it by looking away. You're a jerk.." I told him.
"Get out of my car."
"It's a truck." I spat back and slammed the door with all of my things in hand.
He was nice looking, but not that nice looking and besides, I have to stay away from men. Plus a man like him, would never go for a girl like me.
He beeped his horn after me but I kept going deciding it was better if we disliked each other completely. I am known for catching feelings even if it's just a friendship that's being offered and that would be entirely too weird.
I got into the house securely and sent my sister a text. I groaned thinking about the bill I am going to get for them to tow my car from the highway to the repair shop.
I got comfortable in some of my boho chic bum wear as I like to call it and put my hair up.
"What to make, what to make?" I asked myself really not in the mood to even think about cooking.
"Hello." I said answering my cell phone.
"Hey Baby. Are you home?" My daddy said.
"Yes sir. It was a long night."
"It's time for you to get a new car. That's the second time and I bet you its that transmission." He fused.
"I know daddy, I just want to buy a nice car and I need to save for it." I explained.
"Well how about an early birthday present."
"No daddy. I'm doing this on my own." I told him.
"Okay Miss On My Own-" my attention was directed off of my dad when someone rung my door bell.
"Who's at the door?" He asked.
"I don't know." I said slipping on my slippers before heading to the door.
