Chapter 9: Introduction

"Was that Zayn Malik?" my friend Sarah asked me.

I nodded.

"The boys are in town? You should have told me and Leah! Can we please meet them?" I laughed. Leah and Sarah are big One Direction fans. I am always cautious when it comes to friendships. Most people want to get close to me so that they can get close to the boys. Although Sarah and Leah are fans of One Direction, I know that they're friends with me to be friends with me.

"I think my brother is picking me up. You can meet him then, and then I'll text you sometime this week or whatever." I muttered.

"OMYGAWD! Yes, yes, yes! I love you!" She hugged me.

"Ok, Sarah. Let's just get to work, ok?" She nodded, and I went to the first table. I waited a couple tables in the first two hours. I made decent tips, but nothing amazing.

"Hello, my name is Susan. I'll be your ser- Tyler?" I didn't finish my usual speech when I noticed who was sitting before me.

"Uh, hey babe. You haven't answered my texts or calls, so I brought some friends for dinner with the hopes that you'd be working."

"My phone isn't charged all the way. I haven't checked it in a while..."

"Oh. Can we talk?" He looked up at me.

"Uh, sure."

"Wait," his friend, Chris, tugged on my apron, "can I place my drink order first?" I rolled my eyes. I loved Tyler, but his friends are fucking dicks.

I nodded as he and Ed, the other dick who came with Ty, ordered. I left the table to put in the order and Ty followed. I turned to him.

"Is everything ok between us? I mean, I know we didn't leave it on a good foot, but..." He looked at me questioningly.

"I," I started, "I just was angry that you were being so stubborn on meeting my brother.'

"I was scared," he admitted, "your brother is this superstar who is perfect in your eyes, and I was scared of meeting him. I was afraid that he wouldn't like me, and I was scared that you would no longer like me because of that." I rubbed his shoulder, reassuringly.

"Liam will love you, and even if he doesn't, it isn't going to change us. Obviously he means a lot to me as does his opinion, but I wouldn't dare change us. Ok, so don't worry. I think he's coming to pick me up, you can meet him then. Sarah wants to meet him too, so it'd be totally casual and whatnot. Also, it'd only be for a minute, just a quick hi." He looked at me unconfidently.

"I guess..." He muttered. I patted his shoulder and started to walk back to one of my other tables. Ty pulled me back by my waist and spun me around. He kissed me passionately, slipping his tongue into my mouth. I pushed him away; this was a place of work. I wanted to keep my job.

He just shook his head and walked off. I got the boys their drinks and then took their orders.

After another hour, Chris and Ed left as my shift ended. I called Liam, using Sarah's phone, who was set to arrive in a few minutes.

"Sarah, breathe." She was hyperventilating. Ty

just should there, with a tight face and gripped my hand tightly. I looked out the window, Liam was just pulling up.

"Come on guys, he's here. And honestly, relax, he is pretty chill." I led them outside as Liam got out of the car.

"Hey babe," he waved to me and looked at my friends.

"Liam," I gave him a quick kiss on his cheek, "these are my friends, Sarah and Tyler." Liam smiled at them, but froze for a quick second when I introduced Tyler.

"It's always nice to meet friends of Suze, I am surprised she has any." I slapped his arm, but he just laughed, unaffected. Sarah laughed too, a little too much, trying to please Liam. Tyler respectively cracked a smile.

"So, Sarah, you must be one of Suze's best friends. She's told me a lot about you. It's an honor meeting you." Liam said to her as he pulled her in for a quick hug. I thought she would pass out.

"It... It... It's an, uh, an honor to, um, m-m-meet you." Liam smiled warmly at her.

"Tyler," Liam addressed him as he shook his hand, "It is a pleasure meeting you, too." Tyler nodded at him, nervously.

"Well, I don't mean to be rude, but Susan, we have to get going. Louis has been dying to do something with all six of us and has been literally running around the house in circles with Niall." Sarah widened her eyes at how casually he mentioned the boys.

"Ok, see you guys later." I hugged Sarah and gave Tyler a quick peck on the cheeks. He froze under my touch, surprised that I would kiss him in front of my brother. I saw Liam look at me as I kissed Ty, but quickly look away when I pulled off of him.

I climbed into the car to wait for Liam. Instead

of climbing into the driver's seat, he went and grabbed Tyler. Uh-oh. They spoke for like literally 13 seconds, but who's counting. Liam walked back over to the car as Ty just smiled and waved.

"What was that?" I demanded once Liam got into the car.

"What?" He asked all so innocently.

"With Ty just, I mean Tyler, just now."

"Oh, I just wanted to tell him that I was glad to

meet him and that I am happy for you and him." Liam said quickly and quietly. He changed the subject before I could respond.

"How was work?"

"Good," I smiled, Liam approved of my relationship...

The ride home was nice. Liam and I were able to just be together, alone, without having a house full of loud, obnoxious boys. Liam is my brother and my favorite person in the world. I love the other guys, but any time I can spend with Liam makes me feel good.

We pulled up to the house, but before I could open the door of the car, Liam locked it. I turned to him with questioning eyes. He patted my knee.

"I am sorry if I seem overbearing with the Harry thing, I'm just looking out for you. And I'm not just holding something against Harry, but the other boys too. I told them to stay away from you as well." He admitted guiltily.

"I know. At first I was pissed, not going to lie. But now I appreciate that there's someone to look out for me." I rubbed his hand reassuringly.

"I may not always be around here, but I will always be looking out for you, no matter what." He kissed my cheek and unlocked the door. I love my brother.
