Chapter 3: Friends

I awoke in my own room, snuggled under the covers in my bed. Liam had carried me upstairs, I guess. I looked over at the clock, 9:13 a.m. I guess that Liam was letting me skip school again. I smelled breakfast, so I bounded down the stairs, wearing nothing but my skimpy tank top and short shorts.

I went to the fridge, not looking at the kitchen table where I assumed Liam was eating. I grabbed a water bottle, but dropped it as I was leaving the room. With my back facing the table, I bent over, not realizing that I gave quite the view to Liam at the table in my shorts. I stood up quickly and huffed out of the room, embarrassed. I tried not to look at the kitchen table, but caught a glimpse of the people sitting at it in the corner of my eyes. Shit, I saw four people. I quickly turned towards them and froze.

Liam wasn't sitting at the table, instead, the other members of the band were. All frozen, watching me. Louis had a big smile across his face and had a mouthful of food on his fork, hovering outside his mouth. Niall was in a similar position, but instead his mouth hung open. Zayn sat there with his arms crossed, eyebrows raised. Harry was just leaning on the table with his forearms, and a smirk on his face.

The view I must've given them left little to the

imagination.

"Uh, er, hi guys." I said, trying to sound casual. They all shot each other quick glances, before Louis put down his fork and stood up.

"SUSAN!" He roared as he came up to me, "It's lovely to see you." I flinched at his volume as he pulled me into a quick hug. The other boys were behind him. I hugged each one.

"Good morning," I sighed when Harry leaned in.

"Now it is," he whispered in my ear as we hugged. I quickly pulled away, blushing, and shot him a dirty look. Just then, Liam wandered in.

"Oh, you're up. Could you, uh, put some clothes

on," he said the last part quietly, but the boys still heard and let out small chuckles.

"I think she's dressed fine, mate," Harry teased.

"Now." He said to me, leading me out of the kitchen with his hand on my back. I guess he saw the way that Harry and Zayn were eying me, too. I walked up the stairs as I saw Liam turn back to address the boys.

"Susan," he started, "is my little sister," he looked at Harry, but addressed the whole group, "keep it to yourselves."

I came back downstairs in jeans and a blouse. When I walked in the kitchen, only Harry and Louis were left.

"Hello, love," Louis started, "Liam said we were welcome to make ourselves at home, so I don't mean to be rude when I say this, but it smells weird in the TV room." I shot him a dirty look. Funny.

"That is probably the drugs and alcohol," I said between my teeth, "feel free to clean it, since you're making yourself at home." I added. Harry laughed.

"I have a question, love," Louis asked, smiling but sounding serious. I turned to face him.

"What?"

"Why don't you like us? Any of us?" He asked bluntly.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I

responded, faking an innocent expression. Harry stood up and winked at Louis. He started coming towards me slowly. I backed away from him until I bumped into the counter. He came towards me, gripped the counter on either side of me, leaving me trapped, and smiled a cheeky, dimple-filled smile. I looked up into his sea-green eyes, under his curly brown hair.

"We're not that bad," he started, "I mean Liam learned to put up with us, why can't you?" He pushed aside a strand of my dirty blonde hair.

"I, uh, you're annoying," I managed to spit out, mesmerized by those eyes. I understood how he was able to get so many women.

"Can't you just be our friend?" He asked, condescendingly.

"Friends?"

"Yeah, friends. I don't know if you have many of those, but they are people that you like and hang out with." His sarcasm snapped me out of my Harry-daze. I slapped his arm, forcing him to release me.

"Sure," I replied 'innocently', "friends." With that, I walked out of the kitchen, feeling the two of them watch me as I left.
