Chapter 74: Lunch
“Hey babe!” Liam called to me without turning around. He was cooking something for breakfast. Danielle sat at the counter sipping some tea. I nodded a hello to her. She looked me over once before turning back to her tea. Liam spun around and walked over to me. He gave me a quick peck on the cheek before looking over my outfit. He turned to Danielle who shot him a look.
“Breakfast?” he handed me a plate. I sat next to Danielle and sighed. I looked down while I ate my food. I could feel that I was being watched. I looked up to confirm my suspicion, both Danielle and Liam were watching me. I swallowed my bite and looked at Liam.
“So, how did you sleep?” He asked me.
“Good, thanks.” I responded.
“I’ve never seen that t-shirt before, well at least on you, is it new?” I saw Danielle shoot Liam a look.
“Oh yeah, it’s Harry’s. He gave it to me a week or two ago.” I lied. Liam rolled his eyes and Danielle sighed.
“Of course,” Liam muttered, taking a sip of tea. I bit my tongue, I wasn’t going to my a snide remark.
“So why don’t you tell Susie what we talked about last night?”Danielle changed the subject.
“I’m sure she knows, already,” Liam muttered taking a sip of tea. Danielle shot him a dirty look again.
“Children, you two are children.” Danielle said, shaking her head. Liam and I looked at each other and then looked away.
“So, I am inviting Harry over for lunch today, you know, to talk.” Liam said quietly. I am guessing that this was all Danielle’s idea. I gulped; Liam wanted to talk to Harry. I knew the both of them were good friends. Still, in my head it was my older brother talking to my boyfriend.
“I’ll text him.” I said.
“You can’t. I still have your phone.” I rolled my eyes. When was Liam going to give it back?
“Ok, I’ll go ask him.” I stood up, but Liam shook his head.
“I already called. Harry was still asleep, so Louis said he’d get him to come over at like 1:30p.m.” I sighed; Louis had either no idea that Harry came over last night, or he was willing enough to cover up.
“Ok.” I muttered, sitting down.
“Yeah, so he’ll be here in an hour or so.” I watched Danielle stand up and go over to Liam. She nudged him with her elbow.
“Are you going to invite the other lads? They have been texting me all day and are very worried. I think they have a right to know what is going on.”
“Well, Lou knows, but I guess I can invite everyone over for pizza tonight…” Liam muttered. He was thinking of the mess they’ll make, no doubt. I sat there silently allowing Liam to decide. I didn’t want to face anyone else, but I was going to have to eventually. Liam and Danielle walked off to Liam’s bedroom to talk so more, or do god knows what, leaving me in the main room alone. I plopped on to the couch and flipped on the TV. I must have sat there for an hour because I watched a full show. I spent the whole time thinking of every possible way this lunch could go wrong. Finally, I turned off the TV and walked over to the dining room, where Danielle was setting up lunch. Liam was in the kitchen making drinks. I wandered around until I heard the buzzing of the lift. Liam heard it too, because he was already by the elevator by the time I got there. I held my breath.
The doors slowly opened and Harry stepped out cautiously. Liam nodded a hello to him.
“Liam.” Harry said seriously. He made no move to come into the flat further or to acknowledge me. Liam stepped closer to him and pulled him in for a hug. Harry looked shocked, but patted Liam on the back. They pulled away.
“Are we good man?” Harry asked hopefully. Liam shrugged his shoulders but cracked a small smile.
“If you can forgive me for punching you, I think that I can, er, EVENTUALLY forgive you for dating my sister.” Harry cracked a smile, too. No one was going to bring up the fact that Harry had taken my virginity, but I think that it was for the best.
“Danielle,” Harry greeted her over me. I stood there silently as he gave her a quick hug and peck on the cheek.
“Susan,” he nodded to me. I smiled at him, but looked over to Liam, who was watching us. I followed Danielle into the dining room. Liam sat down first and motioned for Harry to sit across from him. Danielle winked at me and plopped herself next to Liam, forcing me to sit next to Harry. I sat down slowly as Liam looked at Danielle in disbelief. She smirked at him.
“So, we need to discuss you two.” Liam cleared his throat. I scooted over closer to Harry. He looked uncomfortable at first, but reluctantly put his arm on the back of my chair. I saw Liam’s eyes zero in on Harry’s arm.
“If it counts for anything, Liam, I really truly love your sister and if we could, we would love your approval to keep dating.” Harry said seriously. Danielle smiled, but stayed quiet.
“Well, I know that when Susan gets an idea, there is no stopping her. I figure it is better to let you two do what you want. Otherwise Susan would hurt herself trying to get to you,” Liam responded, a note of affection in his voice when he spoke about me. Danielle and I sat there quietly for the entirety of the conversation. We slowly ate our food, but Harry and Liam were to distracted to eat.
“That seems reasonable,” Harry commented.
“I need all of the details, though. I was hoping you could summarize for me, Harry, because I know that Susan tends to, er, edit things for me.” Liam shot me a dirty look. Harry sighed before starting.
“Well, I first met Susan when we got grouped together on the X-Factor.” He started. Liam held up his hand.
“I didn’t mean from the WAY beginning, Harry.”
“No, I know that, but I need to start from the beginning so you know all of my intentions…”
