James pov
I wake up and find myself on Beth's couch. She's still asleep beside me, looking adorable. I get up slowly, careful not to wake her up and go into the kitchen. There, I find Beth's dad and her brother Kyle.
"Good morning, Mr.McKenzie. Morning Ky. " I say, sitting down beside them.
"Morning Jay." Kyle says, not looking up from his psp. I remember having one like that when I was younger, only this one was way cooler.
"Good morning James. Have a nice night?" Mr.M asks. He's always been so cool about me hanging around Beth and us sleeping in the same room and stuff. He's really happy about the baby too.
"Sure did." I reply happily.
"Good to hear. Is Beth still asleep?" He asks.
"Yeah. I should make breakfast for when she wakes up." I say, getting up.
"She should start getting up earlier. You do have school in a couple of days." He sighs. I know he's right. Unfortunately. School starts in three days.
"Yeah. I wonder how she's gonna manage waking up at six thirty a.m." I chuckle. I get a the requirements to make banana pancakes, Rileys Favorite. You know what? I think I'll make nutella pancakes instead. I start making the batter.
Rileys pov
I wake up the next morning, still on the living room couch. I get up and rub my eyes. I yawn while walking to the kitchen.
"Morning." I say.
"Hey Ri." Emily yawns.
"Where're mom and dad?" I ask. They're usually up by now.
"Dad won a vacation to Hawaii. They had to leave as soon as possible." She says, as if its nothing.
"What?! When did they leave?" I ask.
"Four a.m yesterday. They left a note." She says holding up a small piece of paper. I snatch it from her hands. She shrugs and continues eating her cereal. I unfold the paper.
Dear Em and Ri,
Your father won tickets to Hawaii for two people. I'm sorry we didn't tell you sooner, but we didn't know how. We'll be back in a week. Please don't burn the house down by then!! You can have your friends over but no parties. And remember, you have school! Please take care of eachother and don't argue while we're gone. We trust you!!

Sometimes, I think my parents are brain dead. I throw the paper, sigh and prepare myself a bowl of cereal.
After I finish my breakfast, I go up to my room and start listening to music and jumping around. Getting pumped. Then, Emily knocks on my door.
"Come in." I say. She peeks her head through the door before opening it and coming in. "Hey."
"Hey, can I borrow that grey top you have? Pleeeaaase!?" She says, making her famous puppy dog face.
"Fine." I laugh. "But why?"
"Oh, I'm going to Eldon's to surprise him. Jeff, his other brother Isaac and I are planning a birthday surprise for him. Wanna come?" She asks.
"Sure. Beats sitting around here all day." I shrug.
"But, I gotta warn ya, James' going to be there. Beth too, probably." She says. I flinch a little, but then smile again.
"Who cares about them? I'm going to see Jeff and to have a good time." I say.
"You go girl!" Emily laughs, high fiving me. "Let's get dressed."
"Yeah.. what should I wear?" I ask.
"You wanna impress that boyfriend of yours, eh?" She laughs, joking about Jeff.
"He's not my boyfriend," I laugh. "I don't know what he is honestly."
"Why not ask him?" She shrugs, sitting on the bed next to me. "Boys like it when you're straight up."
"You're right." I say. "But I gotta look good, right?"
"Yeah. Those pyjama pants are not gonna do it." She laughs.
By the end, I'm wearing a turqoise and white strapless dress with white high heels. My hair is curled and my make up is done. Emily is wearing my grey top with a floral skirt and a cute belt with white wedges and a brown purse. She straightened her hair and I did her make up. We both look great and are ready to go.
"Looks like someone wants to make their ex jealous." Emily laughs. "He doesn't know what he's missing."
"Thanks. But I don't care about him. I just wanna look good for Jeff." I laugh.

"Riley's in love! Riley's in love!" She teases.
"Yeah yeah whatever. We better get going, we're gonna be late." I roll my eyes and try to change the subject. I know I'm in love, but its not with Jeff.
"You're right. Let's go."
James pov
"Do you have to go?" Beth whines after breakfast. She pouts. I chuckle and kiss her on the tip of her nose.
"Yeah, I do." I sigh. She furrows her brows.
"But I have the house to myself today. Kyle's at a sleepover and my parents are at work." She tries to convince me, but I don't give in.
"Beth, Eldon's my best friend. I can't miss his birthday party." I say, she pouts again. But then I get an idea. "Why don't you come too?"
"Hmm." She considers it. "Yeah sure."
"Okay, let's get dressed, then we can go?" I suggest. She smiles and nods, leading me to her room.
"What should I wear?" She asks. Oh God! This is going to take forever... sorry Eldon.
